Hi. I’m from Canada. We just bought an apartment in this very building. We gutted and renovated it. We absolutely love living here part time. Have been coming to Tropea for 10 years. Everything is walkable. Food is amazing and groceries are cheap. It’s pure heaven❤❤❤❤

I have been thinking of buying a cheaper propery somewhere in italy rather close to the beach, I live in the north of europe so i could drive there even if it would take many hours. I have been to tropea two times and its and awesome cozy little city. Especially the beach and surrounding area. Im just curious to know how much is rent?
@@linusperez2158 I'm really not sure Linus. I haven't looked at rent prices, only property purchases. I would assume they're quite low compared to northern Europe.

Of all the Italian Property RUclips channels yours is by far the best. I want to buy a place in Italy now. I would ask if you could feature some properties that you don’t need to buy a car. Something you can walk to the train that connects to a major airport. We are thinking of buying property as a vacation home prior to retirement down the road in 5 years. Of course a beach view is lovely. We have been looking at Scalea. I love how you feature character homes and places with beautiful views. Thanks for the excellent job you do in your production and useful content! I subscribed and like every video. I just wish I could give more stars🎉

This apartment is in a great location. It needs alot of upgrades starting with new furniture and appliances. Is there an elevator or is it stairs to the apartment? That makes z big difference in renting.
Pretty sure there’s a lift.

very nice that there seem to be some private beaches in town. Some places in Italy are nasty in that local corruption has led to all beaches being privatized, and you have to pay around €20.00 rent for a lounger and umbrella, since there is no space left for folks with a straw mat or a beach chair.
I didn’t know it cost that much.
@@traveltirementit was supposed to end when the EU stipulated that all such privatized beaches needed to be subject to a transparent public tender.
But the new neo-fascist PM, Ms Meloni, went out of her way to support local crooks, so no improvement in sight.
We have been living here part time. We never pay more than 9€

The cliffs and the color of the sea. If you are dreaming of buying this place, why share it with anyone who might beat you to it? I get that that the Italians hope for a solution to their housing situation but if demand is too high, it will make it more difficult for others to buy.
I’m just sharing cool spots I see. This place actually sold after I’d made the video. But there are tons of places coming and going on the market.

For cheap flights I'd check Google Flights or sign up for Going (formerly Scott's Cheap Flights).
Some condo/apartments have HOA fees, yes. But not all.

There are no volcanoes in this area of Italy. The active volcanoes are to the south.
Earthquakes are extremely rare. You're more like to die driving to the local grocery store.

Not to nitpick, but I think it's 21% for the first rental, then 26% after.
And this is only if someone chooses NOT to set up a business to do the rentals. Which could provide tax benefits depending on the scale and how much expenses are.
@@traveltirement interesting... i didnt know that. I know they recently raised it and i know some italian cities are stopping short term rentals. for example, i read that in florence you can only rent it for part of the year. So, that togther with the high tax, makes many properties innoperable as pure investments.(i would think). and i some cities they are restricting the number of allowed rentals.

It's very difficult for non-Italian, non-EU citizens to get a mortgage. That's why I like looking for properties you could buy for cash.

You have to figure since it's in a tourist/vacation spot, penthouse, walkable to beach, it's going to cost you.
But a similar place in the US would be $750,000 or more.
Cheap is relative I guess!
@@traveltirement You are spot on totally correct in what you said. With all this location offers, the price is astounding. Incredibly good buy and unlike the $750,000+ house in the U.S., where I am, you don't have to worry you are going to lose money on it. Ain't no way the prices of these homes are going down significantly, even in a horrible global economy. Matter of fact, I could see these kind of places increasing in value in very bad times. Italy is the only major country I know of that as of this very moment, housing prices are rising, when every major country sees their housing prices starting to crumble. Better yet, it makes perfect sense why.
