After cleaning everything I could think of to help the igniter work again, I watched this gentleman, saw the reference to the small hole on the burner head, took a Q-tip to gentle wipe that out, thanked the burner for all the meals it has cooked for us, and asked that we be able to continue to cook with that burner. Next try; immediate ignition! :-)
Ammonia works great on the grate. Put it in a large ziploc (per grate of course) and pour ammonia till its all covered and let it sit for 12 hours. Make sure you do this outside
I poured boiling water on the burner lids, followed by baking soda and plastic blue abrasive spounge. Took a while but it looks like new and I did not damage the finish!
I sure hope this works, since I have to do a very deep clean to prepare for an exterminator......nearly every surface in my apartment is infested with roaches and I need to almost take the dang stove apart!! Tks in advance.
1:43 I would like to remove all the dark stains afflicting one burner base. What will get it off? I've tried soap and water, baking soda and bar keepers friend (oxalic acid) all separately but none of this works. I thought about vinegar but that is weaker than bkf. Only other thing that I can think of is oven cleaner which I hate using because of the fumes.
You can lift the main top and clean underneath it on most ranges and cooktops. Follow the directions in your owner’s manual to lift the main top. If you don’t have your owner’s manual, you can likely find a copy here: www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals. If you can’t find your manual or the manual doesn’t show how to lift the main top, let us know the model number of your range or cooktop and we’ll try to provide you with some specific directions to lift the main top on your model.
We recommend that you use a damp cloth and additional tools as shown at 1:18 in the video. Using cleansers can clog the ignition port unless you thoroughly rinse off the cleanser residue (which is somewhat difficult on a sealed burner such as the one we show in the video).
Give us more information about the plates you're referring to and include the model number of range. We'll post some advice once we receive more information.
this guy is amazing, he needs a raise!
I agree
I'm glad it was subtitled!
I could seriously listen to him teach me how to do basically anything.
Thank you so much ! You saved me money with all theses videos.

Use a needle or some pin, once you clean that hole, your burner will ignite the way it the very first day.

no our stove didn't come with a convenient packet of gas grate cleaner. what's in it?

I've never found anyone or anythinug who knows how to get it back to looking new.
very helpful as it saves money&time.
I put mine in the dishwasher
Can the gas grate cleaner harm me if I get it on my skin?
What lubricant can be used to keep burner mounting screws from rusting & seizing?
Graphite lubricant will lubricate those screws and that type of lubricant can handle the high heat without deteriorating.

Can you clean under the top and burners like if you spill grease in it
You can lift the main top and clean underneath it on most ranges and cooktops. Follow the directions in your owner’s manual to lift the main top. what do you use to clean the base burner?

Sears PartsDirect can you clean under that

Give us more information about the plates you're referring to and include the model number of range. We'll post some advice once we receive more information.
