Great video. You hike and make videos faster than I can watch them, incredible. I didn't see that wire bridge by corryhully bothy, nice one. I remember that bog on the way to the forest, you really battled through it and finding your go pro is almost unbelievable, well done. That section from Achuil bothy to Sourlies is really tough, fair play to you for going so far so quick and doing such a great job in documenting the drama of the trail. love it.
Well done Hiker Sheep!! Hope you are still going and more importantly enjoying it. That’s a very STEEP hill after Sourlies on way to Barrisdale!! Some nice sun in the forecast sooon.
When walking where there's few tracks. Keep to the higher ground, even if it's only a couple of feet or so. Any big tussocks are usually solid enough to keep you from going into the bog. Use those poles! Poking things with your sticks is the best way to test solid ground! You're doing fantastic, and the scenery is just incredible (despite the bogs!)
You will soon become a expert on boggy vegetation and which plants grow on the more solid areas - it is a essential skill. I will be walking in Torridon in two weeks, you will pass that area before I get there and I will watch that section with special care!
Smashed it! Thanks so much for the video - I hadn't recorded this bit as I was afraid I'd drop my phone in the bog, so really grateful for your memorialising of the absolute challenge of it!
I fell in the bog more or less exactly the same place that you did wanting to cut through the forest, immediately after the main bridge and to the left is a path that leads upto a stone path which leads round to a chuil bothy
Fantastic effort. I was exhausted just watching you. You put in a lot of miles over very challenging terrain. Well, at least now you know how Doctor Foster felt when he stepped in that puddle !
@@hikersheep Ahhh....English nursery rhyme. Doctor Foster went to Gloucester in a shower of rain, He stepped in a puddle right up to his middle and never went there again. Google it. Apparently refers to King Edward I of England who fell off his horse into a puddle there.
Maybe you should tie an orange flag to the bottom of your pole, so if you sink in the bog, you can have your pole sticking out so someone can find you! 😂 What a challenge!
Thanks! :) Yes, when i first started hiking, I wore boots. I didn't like them cause they're heavy and they don't dry out fast when i got them wet. With trail runners, they are light, I can just walk 20-25 miles a day through bogs, rivers, get them wet, and they will dry. And I never get blisters. My feet breathe better in them.
@@hikersheepI have boots that are sneaker like, but I’ve never tried hiking in running trainers. What brand do you prefer? Im going to give your method a try
I read it. But it's just so much infonand too overwhelming I couldn't remrmber all the details. Dont worry...im.coming back to do the Scottish National Trail in April and redo CWT
Thanks!

Great effort today! Amazing stuff.
"The route has the reputation of being Britain's toughest long distance walk" watching your video I think I agree with this

Great mileage solo in tough conditions. Respect 👏. I’m willing you on!

Hehehe, youre welcome. The bog tried to stop me memorializing it by swallowing my Gopro
well done brilliant viewing for me sat at home lol
Your rocking this journey 👍

You found the forest path??? I couldnt find it. The area outside the forest was soooo boggyyyyy

Who is Doctor Foster??

Being in Scotland in May is not good. I applaude your bravery.
Bogs .... You'll become quite adept at figuring out where to step and where not to ... bright green is usually deep :)

I got lost several times in the forest, with a gps, walked past and completely missed the bothy. This section was not my favourite memory.
Epic day Christina. Have you thought of applying to join the Royal Marines?
Go well, tread carefully!
Pete
I wanted to join the US Air Force but already too old. :(
@@hikersheep Me too! Way too old now :O(
@@sydaitge4577 hahahaaa!!!! My son is active duty USAF so i am so proud
smashing it
Great job! One question: why are you wearing sneakers in such a boggy landscape? Do you ever hike in boots?

If I go there I will bring some oil for that gate
Why are you not reading the guide book ???????
