Škoda Fabia 1.4 TDI 2015, 77kW, 3 Cylinder, 5W-30, VW 507 00, Germany. Want to try 0W-30 with the next change. Oil change according to cars computer around 25-30.000 km and 1-2 years. The car now has 207.000 km and doesn't consume oil (around half way at the dip stick when it needs to be changed, so it consumes max. 0.5 l over 25.000 km or so). Never had an oil related problem in all family with sticking to the engineers maintenance plan also with long drain intervals...
The complexity of an ICE is really amazing. It's one thing to design it and put it on paper, but to then manufacture a working, reliable, durable engine is amazing to me and I worked for a diesel engine manufacturer for 31 years. The casting of a cylinder block and cylinder head is complex as the cooling jacket needs to be cast in then oil galleys need to be machined, etc. Pumps, coolers, filters located and installed so that all passages connect and don't leak. Not a small task. I got to work as a laborer in an engine foundry for five summers and saw how castings were formed, it is difficult to describe as you see the internal passages as hard sand forms then the outside formed around them and then the molten metal poured in and what comes out after cooling is a cylinder head or a block.
You made a really clear and understandable 3D modelling and which can be compared as those big RUclips channel having millions of subscribers. So please keep doing it and make more videos about other topics related to automobile enginnering!! That will be highly appreciated!! Thank you!!.
Your videos are great as they provide a clear visual to put the theory or concept of something into how and why it works. I love your videos! Please keep making them.
Thank you so much for appreciating it. Good feedback is inspiring:) I will continue for sure. Soon there will be a video course with more of my videos. But there will be more videos on the channel as well;)
Appreciate this educational video. The simple, easy to understand animation and explanation helped me understand how motor oil flow throughout the engine and other additional components related to the engine.
Engine is a Mazda MZR or Ford Duratec 2.0L, 2.3L and 2.5L 4cyl. 4cyl Ford Fusion ('06 to '20) and Mazda model 3,5 and 6 4cyl ('04 to '13) Alot of other vehicles used this engine too.
Great video! I would like to add, the bottom most ring of a piston is usually left blank for oil to be sprayed into the gap for further lubrication, right?
Remember, oil seals are an afterthought in all German cars. Some brands (Audi, mostly) also like to consume oil, like a 2 stroke. So remember to top that oil off once in a while.
VAG engines went for fuel economy and more power by using loose piston rings. End result is higher engine oil consumption as it's burnt in the cylinder. Not a problem when engine oil is cheaper than fuel ;-)
oil control ring is not for removing oil from the cylinder walls . the second piston ring is what scraps the cylinder walls and removes most of the oil . great video animation and good explanation other wise
Look at your vehicle's manual.. search for it online if you dont have it... but generally 5-10k miles you'll change the oil AND oil filter. It's difficult to determine when an oil change is actually needed and color wont help. So routine changes is the best way to ensure oil has not gone bad.
@@MedicalStudentChannel They are wrong. Don't trust them. They also say transmission fluid is for life which is not true . Use the recommend oil viscosity and use 100% synthetic oil and change it at 5000 km or 7000 km max. Every mechanic recommend this.
Im accidently start the engine without oil filter fit on this happened when i draining the engine oil. Now after fill on new engine oil..my car goes lagging..what happened??
i have a BMW F22 218d (2015) and i'm changing my engine-oil every 2years or 30.000km. since im interested in this engineering-stuff the last couple months i will now lower the mileage and change it every 15.000km ( driving 20.000km per year) the oil is 5W-30. maybe i will test 5W-40 in the future and watch out if there is a difference.
Oil changes after 30k? I'm surprised your engine didn't blow up yet. Never *EVER* trust official BMW intervals, always half the number they give you. They say, 15k miles. So do it every 7500 mi (12000 km). I don't drive that much so I simply change my oil every year.
Engine timing is for the intake and exhaust valves for the cylinders in your engine. This is driven by a timing belt or timing chain connected to the camshaft that has lobes that push against the exhaust and intake valves for each cylinder at the correct time. Depending on how far off the engine timing is, the engine could run poorly, incorrect air fuel mixture, bad compression, etc, or it may not start at all. If the timing is severely off, the valves that let air in and exhaust out could get bent (combustion happening when valves are open or piston hitting a valve), and then they would need to be replaced. There's also ignition timing, which is the timing for electricity to the spark plugs. In modern engines this is determined by sensors for the crankshaft position and camshaft position. Older cars may have a distributor to "distribute" spark to each cylinder, and the distributor is mechanically driven by a connection to the camshaft

I'll say it once and I'll say it again. The Engine is one of the most genius inventions ever made.
Yes. It’s insane how long engines can withstand all those explosions for so long
Airplane engines are even more insane
It’s looks complicated but once you see how it works it’s makes so much sense
Driving the whole world.. 😌
@@KingStepside that is very very true

another great video, oil radiator cools the oil on its way back to the oil sump? I noticed most diesel engines are equipped with it.
interesting great work 🔥
感恩,謝謝分享!
Thank you very much. I like your personal page. I ask you to know all the car's sensors and the parts of the car
great animation...is the any chance to have a diesel engine anymaiton? great work and much appreciaton cheers
Oil change every 150 thousands kilometers, right?
Sir it's easy to understanding ☺️ sir thank you 💕 waiting for more videos ☺️ 😍👌👍
These are great
Very good videos.

How often should I do an oil change?

Every 5000 km to 7000 km if you use full synthetic oil. Don't change it at 10.000 km.
@@mossab8209 why not change it at 10.000 km ? my VW Tiguan bluemotion 2011 model, says 20.000 km

U have a mistake for photos of external gear pump and internal gear pump . U changed the names of pumps
Sir plz make a video on fuel supply system
loved it.
doesn't transmission also need lubricants?
Best video
How does the oil go down to the oil sump...? I can't see how and where it does that.

Engine timing is for the intake and exhaust valves for the cylinders in your engine. This is driven by a timing belt or timing chain connected to the camshaft that has lobes that push against the exhaust and intake valves for each cylinder at the correct time.

I have big curiosity about how this works in Oposed piston Engines Like the achates power made one recently
Thanks
What about the friction inside the piston?
Bravos
At 2:05 the labels for external and internal gear pumps are wrong and should be swapped.
How does the oil not burn up in the combustion chamber when it lubricates the pistons?
There are rings on the pistons responsible for scraping the oil down from the cylinder walls, if those malfunction the car will burn oil
but does not lubricate the rings???
bravo
Oil pump= volume, Main/rod bearing ect... clearance= pressure/resistance!
Directions not clear. Head gasket blew
oil separates metal surfaces
❤❤❤
;)
So basically oil is a cars condom
👍👍
Lubricate system returning to mobile chamber
Hiiii
Not clear
the car book say to be chaynge oyle evéry Ýeâř
if i changed my oil once a year my car would be long dead for now
!
Ai voice vid.
This does not explain why no oil get combusted. If oil lubricates the valves, some oil should dripped into the combustion chamber.
It is mentioned though that the valve stem seals prevent this issue of oil falling into the combustion chamber.
thank God to made neodymium and lithium to avoid this dumbass boom-boom motor that weights 1000kg and need to change oil and also need benzene
I eat lubricant
👍👌
