- Could someone read any of the Arabic qurans easily without any assistance? Did the early Qurans contain diacritical markings or vowlizations? How many different possibilities can one come up with in reading just any work without the asstance of these vowlization system markings? Are all the early qurans read identically? Does the 1924 Cairo edition match any and all early Quranic copies in reading? How many different readings of the Arabic Quran do exist? How many different Arabic Qurans one can find today?

Dots aren't only the problem but there are also vowel movements which can be placed above or under a letter to change the pronunciation. For example if we place a hamza on top of the alif أ its pranounced "a" but if we place the hamza on the bottom of the alif إ its pranounced "e" and there are 4 more letter movements in arabic that can be placed under or over letters to change their pronunciation or meaning.
that is true, those small things to non arabic speakers is nothing, but to the ones that knows the language knows that those can literally change the whole scripture just because of one misplaced vowel, or dot, or whatever tiny thing you wrote, that is why the lord is jesus, and we shall worship him and i have had many dreams and visions about the end times, and it is coming very very soon, repent and give up your life completely to the lord jesus christ before it actually gets too late and walk as holy as possible, preach the bible everywhere, to family friends strangers, neighbors,... and read the bible. the end times will be very crazy and the quran is not the way nor muhammad but the only way is through the lord jesus

A fellow Muslim here who knows to read Arabic, the video just shows 15 different qira'ats of the same quran. Technically, they are the same. Sorry if you've been thinking otherwise.

There is only one quran - 4 different Warsh quran, 7 different Hafs qurans, qaaluun quran, al-doori quran, Al-Susi, Shobah, Ibn Ammar, Al Kesaa, Khalaf quran, Khallad Quran, Ibn Zkwaan Quran, Jamas Quran, Qunbul Quran, Ibn Kathir quran etc etc = ONE quran

These are NOT DIFFERENT Holy Qur’ans that these people are showing.
These are the different Qira’aat that the Holy Qur’an was revealed in. Different Qira’aats can have different spelling, different pronunciations, different recitation, but the meaning stays the same. Different Arabic Qira’aats are spoken in different regions of the Arabic World.
Just like the English language. English spoken in England is different from English spoken in Australia, which is different from English spoken in USA, Canada, Pakistan or India.

an Arabic speaker here, there are no differences dude these are qiraat differences, or recitations. for a native speaker the dots don't matter. most of us dont even write with the ahruf bro we can read and write without them🤦♂️ living in some wonderland

Quran was revealed in verbal form...later on it was compiled in written form....thus you may find different ascent of same language....

Firstly :
you should note, may Allaah bless you, that the Qur’aan was revealed in one style at the beginning, but the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) kept asking Jibreel until he taught him seven styles, all of which were complete. The evidence for that is the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Abbaas who narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Jibreel taught me one style and I reviewed it until he taught me more, and I kept asking him for more and he gave me more until finally there were seven styles.”
(narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3047; Muslim, 819)
Secondly, what is meant by styles (ahruf, sing. harf)?
The best of the scholarly opinions concerning what is meant is that there are seven ways of reciting the Qur’aan, where the wording may differ but the meaning is the same; if there is a different meaning then it is by way of variations on a theme, not opposing and contradiction.
Thirdly:
Some of the scholars said that what was meant by ahruf was the dialects of the Arabs, but this is far-fetched, because of the hadeeth of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab who said: “I heard Hishaam ibn Hakeem reciting Soorat al-Furqaan in a manner different from that in which I used to recite it and the way in which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught me to recite it. I was about to argue with him whilst he was praying, but I waited until he finished his prayer, and then I tied his garment around his neck and seized him by it and brought him to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, I heard this man reciting Soorat-al-Furqaan in a way different to the way you taught it to me.’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him, ‘Recite it,’ and he recited it as I had heard him recite it. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘It was revealed like this.’ Then he said to me, ‘Recite it,’ so I recited it and he said, ‘It was revealed like this.’ This Qur'aan has been revealed in seven different ways, so recite it in the way that is easiest for you.’”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2287; Muslim, 818)
It is known that Hishaam was Asadi Qurashi (i.e., from the clan of Bani Asad in Quraysh) and ‘Umar was ‘Adawi Qurashi (i.e., from the clan of Bani ‘Adiyy in Quraysh). Both of them were from Quraysh and Quraysh had only one dialect. If the difference in ahruf (styles) had been a difference in dialects, why would two men of Quraysh have been different?
The scholars mentioned nearly forty different opinions concerning this matter! Perhaps the most correct is that which we have mentioned above. And Allaah knows best.
Fourthly:
It seems that the seven styles were revealed with different wordings, as indicated by the hadeeth of ‘Umar, because ‘Umar’s objection was to the style, not the meaning. The differences between these styles are not the matter of contradiction and opposition, rather they are synonymous, as Ibn Mas’ood said: “It is like one of you saying halumma, aqbil or ta’aal (all different ways of saying ‘Come here’).”
Fifthly:
With regard to the seven recitations (al-qiraa’aat al-saba’), this number is not based on the Qur’aan and Sunnah, rather it is the ijtihaad of Ibn Mujaahid (may Allaah have mercy on him). People thought that al-ahruf al-saba’ (the seven styles) were al-qiraa’aat al-saba’ (the seven recitations) because they happened to be the same number. But this number may have come about coincidentally, or it may have been done deliberately by Ibn Mujaahid to match what was narrated about the number of styles (ahruf) being seven. Some people thought that the styles (ahruf) were the recitations, but this is a mistake. No such comment is known among the scholars. The seven recitations are one of the seven styles, and this is the style that ‘Uthmaan chose for all the Muslims.
Sixthly:
When ‘Uthmaan made copies of the Qur’aan, he did so according to one style (harf), but he omitted the dots and vowel points so that some other styles could also be accommodated. So the Mus-haf that was copied in his time could be read according to other styles, and whatever styles were accommodated by the Mus-haf of ‘Uthmaan remained in use, and the styles that could not be accommodated fell into disuse. The people had started to criticize one another for reciting differently, so ‘Uthmaan united them by giving them one style of the Qur’aan.
Seventhly:
Your saying that Mujaahid’s different recitations meant the seven styles (ahruf) is not correct, as was said by Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah. (Majmoo’ah al-Fatawa, vol. 13, p. 210)
Eighthly:
The seven readers or reciters were:
1-Naafi’ al-Madani
2-Ibn Katheer al-Makki
3-‘Aasim al-Kufi
4-Hamzah al-Zayaat al-Kufi
5-Al-Kisaa’i al-Kufi
6-Abu ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ala’ al-Basri
7-‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Aamir al-Shaami
The ones who have the strongest isnaad in recitation are Naafi’ and ‘Aasim.
The most eloquent are Abu ‘Amr and al-Kisaa’i.
Warsh and Qaaloon narrated from Naafi’.
Hafs and Shu’bah narrated from ‘Aasim.
And Allaah knows best.

@@stuarthastie6374 I know because from hadiths they were some people selected by the Prophet himself to write it down and as well as were the best and noble people who are mention in hadiths to have memorized the Quran at the time of the Prophet. Uthman was not the best at reciting the Quran he was just a leader who commanded the memorizers of the Quran to do the standardization of the Quran in one dialect of the Quran that's the Qurash dialect of the prophet.

they were misunderstanding among even at the time of the Prophet about which recitation of which of the Arabic dialects is correct. The prophet told those his companions who were having problems with how some other companions were reciting the Quran that the Quran was revealed into seven dialect of the Arabic language and that all of them were correct to be recited.
But after the Prophet and particularly at the time of Uthman they were fighting about which dialect is correct and him being a leader decided that the Quran should be standardized into Qurash dialect. He commanded those who memorized the Quran at the time of the Prophet to do it so after that he commanded his people to dispose any theirs and come and copy from the standardized one.
So till today we have one Quran in the Qurash language of the Prophet himself. Don't let the uniqueness of the Quran makes you think Uthman or any other companion removed or added something.
When something is memorized by many people nothing can change it.
Even if today if every copy of the Quran is burnt and all soft copy are lost the Quran can be reproduce without a single deviation in over 100 countries in the world because it's a promise by God to preserve it. Even some kids of age less than 12 have memorized the entire Quran. Denying the truth doesn't mean it's not the truth. May God guide the truthful and sincere heart.

In daily writing we still don’t use haraka in writing. If ur new to writing arabic you may need it to read it, but when u get proficient, you can do easily without it. It’s the way of writing in Arabic. Back in those days they didn’t use dots too. That was the way ppl wrote and understood just like we understand without haraka today. If ppl back then agreed that it was an efficient way for writing and run their lives/government/business/communications this why, why you have a problem with that? They communicated properly and that was the standard writing and it worked.

I was told by someone while I was in Jordan for work that 35 different Arabic Qurans were available. All different to each other and all considered authoritative. I was stunned with the candid nature that this was said. How many have you found so far?
If you are able to change the spelling of a word and still retain its meaning, then you are more powerful than your god. He said no one change his words and he will protect it. Small points I know. But over the breath/scope of the different Arabic Qurans you find words changed with different meaning, words edited out or into the text. Perfect preservation of the text is a joke. If you think one of the many Arabic Qurans is the true one, which one is it and why are all the others corrupt and not the one you believe in?

@Bj D I am not muslim or Christian. But why try to dig at the muslims claim. I thought Christians are supposed to be better than that. At least muslims do not have 40,000 denominations. It's not christians place to do textual criticism against the koran. It's clear these are variant pronunciations from different quranic recitations. Due to the fact each significant quranic reciter is from various countries like nafi al- madani is from Persia, and some were from iraq or hijaz saudi arabia. Any person who speaks arabic knowns there are some words that have different meanings. Like in spanish there are words used that have different meanings between latin american countries verse spain. Even though carbon dating of ink is a bad idea, why would it be wrong to carbon date the upper and lower inks to see what the difference in age was?(Sana'a manuscript) It seems like the average age of the ingredients would confirm the opinions of those dating a script based on historical habits of form and spelling. Was there a change in ink formulation? I think there is fear of an ambiguous outcome that could be exploited. If there is oil in an ink, that could be a real problem. I would like to know how these documents were erased. Did they use plain water or water and vinegar or some other means of removing the ink?

You can see the difference in diacritics. It is striking. Native speakers say the Hafs is active ("fought"), while the Warsh is passive ("was killed"). That is a difference in meaning, my friend. You will have to save your taqiyya for somebody else.

I think you guys are only reacting. You are not answering my question. It's a fact that millions of Muslims have the Quran written on their tongues. My questions were simply:
1. How can this memorization be explained.
2. Which comparative verses of the Quran vary?
Since the Hadith is ORAL TRADITION, and separated from the Quran, we cannot use the stories quoted in hadith as absolute truth. For example; if there is a law or statement in Kbuhari not found in Quran, no Muslim regards that statement in the hadith as true.
By the way, I believe in Jesus. I just want to be responsibly educated but it seems SPIRITUALITY has become second Type of Politics in human existence.

As a speaker of another language other then English i totally agree. Accent marks, glottal marks so on & so forth even periods & commas are very important. Not using the correct accent mark can totally change a word therefore changing or corrupting the whole sentence therefore corrupting the whole message.
this version of Arabic was the standard at the time of Muhammad pbuh.

because it was their mother tongue and they knew how to read it very very well without a single misunderstanding.

@@ahmedmabdelaal441 Nowadays, there are MANY different “original” Qurans in Arabic with different qira’at, ahruf, meanings and omission of words. They are not just dialects like "colour" and "color." If your religious leaders keep it a secret to you, I can show you. Check out these 10 examples:
01) In QURAN 57:24 in the Warsh version there is the word “huwa,” but in the Hafs version there is not such a word. There in an omission or an addition inside the Quran. Which one was the original one taught by the angel Gabriel? Nobody knows. So, is the Quran PERFECTLY preserved? NO.
02) In QURAN 5:6 Ibn Kathir, Abu Amr,Shu'ba and Hamza read wa-'arjulikum وَأَرْجُلِكُمْ (your feet [genitive case]), but others read wa-'arjulakum وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ (your feet [accusative case]). The grammatical variance caused different rulings on wudu between Sunni and Shi'i (whether to rub or wash the feet). In other words, the variant grammatical cases (wa-arjulakum and wa-arjulikum) were adopted for different exegetical views by Sunni and Shīʿi scholars, such that in wudu the feet were either to be washed or rubbed, respectively.
03) QURAN 2:184 could either read “a poor person” (Hafs version: miskeenin مِسْكِينٍ) or “poor people” (Warsh versión: masakeena مَسَٰكِينَ). This has significance on the practice of what you do during the fast. Do you give money for just one person of for many people? In the Arabic, plural means a minimum of three or more and in a religion of works, you accumulate deeds and this is in the context of fasting. And if you could not fast you can substitute for that by feeding one person (according to Hafs) or at least three people (according to Warsh).
04) In QURAN 1:4 in the Hafs version is says “maalik” مَالِكِ (which means “king”), but in the Warsh version it says “malik“ مَلِكِ (which means “owner”); the meaning in Classical Arabic changed because one has an alif and the other does not have an alif. Which one was original taught by the Angel Gabriel? Nobody knows. Is the Quran perfectly preserved? NO. Keep in mind that QURAN 1:4 is from that particular chapter that Muslims read daily in prayers, about 17 times a day.
05) In QURAN 15:18 in the Hafs version it says: “ma nunazzilu” مَا نُنَزِّلُ (We do not send down), but in the Warsh version it says: ma tanazzilu مَا تَنَزَّلُ (they do not come down). “We” refers to God in Hafs and the “They” in Warsh refers to what is not being sent down by God (The Angels).
06) In QURAN 2:10 the Hafs version reads “yakzibuuna” يَكْذِبُونَ (they lied), but the Warsh version reads “yukazzibuuna” يٌكَذّبُونَ (they accused other of lying). So, are they doomed because they lied or are they doomed because of accusing others of lying? Nobody knows. Both have different messages. Is the Quran PERFECTLY preserved? NO.

10) In QURAN 19:25 the Hafs version says, tusaqit تُسَاقِطْ “[the tree] will drop” but other versions say, yasaqat يَسَّٰقَطْ “[the trunk] will drop.” This verse (ayah) has a notably large number of readings for this word (four canonical readings with different subject or verb form, and several non-canonical).

Being able to compare the 31 mushaf online side by side, highlighting the variations, would be very valuable. Some Muslims think the books simply have different covers.
Also is there any critical scholarship to call into question the hadith that supports 7 different qiraat? I suspect it was invented a later date to deal with these kinds of problems. In the story one man is violently pedantic about correct recitation, but nobody else in Arabia needed to clarify this issue? A bit suspicious.
@5115strike ibn tabari didn't believe there were 7 legitimate qiraat. His student was the first guy to propose which readings were the 7 legit ones. And that proposal was criticised at the time.
And that hadith about the "investigate" or "prove" didn't turn up until the 9th century.

If you want to evaluate books based on the time we have extant copied of them, I'm pretty sure we don't have any copies of Bukhari until from at least the 11th century, and compete works until something like the 15-16th century.
We have the writings of other scholars discussing bukhari earlier, but we don't have the text itself. Similarly we don't have compete gospels from the 1st century but we know they were being talked about, quoted and sermonised on.
But where is there any evidence or conversation about Mohammad approving multiple readings from before bukhari?

still the root words are same. and the core message is delivered. though the variations of Quran it was done intentionally for the convenient of Quran recitation. But the fact is still the main concept of every verse remained same. we could have said that Quran is changed if the root word was changed. Like in British and American English "color" and "colour", "defence" vs "defense".. still the meaning same.. here the presenter intentionally presented "color" has a different meaning than "colour" . Even though, the core message remained the same in this video where they showed the verse variations. You can study it on the dictionary of Arabic-English Lexicon by Edward William Lane.

The kick back is not because the Muslims are shocked and they did not know, but because you are manipulating your words to show those reciting differences are differences in the Quran.
All the "version" you showed are written exactly the same and they match the first written Quran at the time of Abu Baker (the first Caliph). Although you were wrong, and i suspect deliberately lying, when you said there are 31 variations, cuz there isn't. There 10 recitations, all of which go back to prophet Muhammad thorough many branches. And when you mention thousands of variations between "versions" you deliberately chose examples that can have different meanings, but most of those variations are difference in dialectical pronunciation. One example is Alef "a" pronounce with Imala as "è". This is analogous to pronouncing "Water" as "Wader" or "Wo'ah", no change in meaning, just a different accent or dialect.
This man also deliberately ignored a very important point, the word "Quran" means "what is recited", and until this day if you want to be certified for "knowing" the Quran, you have to memorize it and recite it from memory completely using correct phonology and vowel timing while following a single recitation in front a certified person. Certification grants you a name in a series of reciters that go back to prophet Muhammad. And prophet Muhammad did pronounce some words in different variations as said earlier, either in different dialects or different morphology, and the names "Hafs" or "Warsh" are names of reciters that the series of certification passes by and are chosen for ease of distinction, and again, they all end up reaching prophet Muhammad.
Written Quran is a supplementary form that aids in the learning and memorization of it, which is "Fard Kifayah" meaning a mandatory act upon all Muslims until a threshold of success is met, in thay case having enough memorizers of Quran, that's why as children we're all introduced to memorizing Quran and when we grow up some people do it professionally while others stop.
Finally, not having vowel diacritics and consonantal dots does not make reading the Quran, or any text, impossible. They were added by Abu Aswad as non Arabs were becoming Muslims and having supplemental marks makes reading easier for them. Arabic has strict rules and if you are a native Arabic speaker you can read a non accented and dotted text with relatively an easy time.

There is only one version of the quran, and the reason why these two think that there many versions of it is because they don't understand the meaning behind these variations of words. Yes, by changing the dots under each letter does affect what type of word you read, but doesn't change the meaning of the quran at all. Hafs and warsh for example are not two different versions of the quran, but two different dialects or ways of reading it. In the time of muhammad, there were many tribes with different languages and tongues. To make it easier on these tribes to read and speak the words of the quran, 7 dialects were created to allow people of different arabic tribes and accents to have an easier time reading the quran. The quran was intentionally brought down by God this way, and is a form of mercy to allow people to read the quran in a manner that they feel most comfortable in. The general meaning is still the same, as you can read it one way or another. In the time of prophet muhammad, dots representing different letters didnt exist, people knew what to read and how to pronounce the words. The beauty of arabic and the quran is that no matter how you put the dots, either it make a word that is correct in terms of the meaning of the quran or it makes a words that doesnt exist in the arabic language, in that case you throw that variation of the word out. Yes there are different variations of words depending on what dialect of the quran you read, but they don't detract from the overall message the quran is conveying. Different words won't ever cause a contradiction in the quran. An example mentioned in the video are the words مالك and ملك. The first being the owner of, the second being the king of. Are they different words? Yes. Do they differ in meaning in terms of the message of the quran? No, God is is the owner of and the king. The quran will be always be preserved, never has it been changed. It saddens me when I see videos like these being made by people who don't have the knowledge to understand why the quran is the way it is. They don't know the context, they pick and pull whatever makes it look like the quran is wrong, while not grasping the reasoning behind Allah's decisions.
