Short and Sweet! I'm in LPN school and I am not getting enough "in depth" info , and this fills the need beautifully. Just due to the fact that I'm eager for more knowledge, I may just continue to RN school (but it is a family decision as I have 4 kids and a husband , it is a lot to take in!).

what is a proper nuring education to a DIC patient?

    • @ciennareed2622

It's an emergent situation, this is when we are using high bolus infusion pumps for blood. If there was Pt teaching, it would be after the situation was reversed or to the support system asking what happened. The patient would need to recover in the hospital until the first underlying condition was taken care of and all hematology labs were normal. DIC is like when the body is so overworked it accidentally hurts itself even more by one of the mechanisms thats supposed to fix us.
