- This video provides an overview of EKG of interpretation and treatment of normal sinus rhythm, sinus bradycardia, sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter.
I am Gail L Lupica with over 20 years of experience teaching nursing at the pre-licensure level. I earned a Bachelor Science in Nursing at SUNY Binghamton in 1986, a Master's in Nursing Education in 1992 from New York University (NYU) and a PhD in Adult and Post-Secondary Education in 2011. I have many years of experience in NCLEX-RN test preparation and remediation.

"Big Box" method she describes for determining rate is easy to remember as follows.... 1st box is rate of 300...or divide 300 by 1(1st big box)....2nd box - divide 300 by 2 =150....third big box, divide by 3 (100).....4th big box, divide 300 by 4 (75).....5th big box, divide 300 by 5 = 60........6th big box, divide 300 by 6 (50).......7th big box, divide 300 by 7 (42.8 or 43)....see the pattern? So in summary, 1st box is 300....every other box is take that 300 and divide it by the number of big boxes you've traveled.
