I haven't played Magic for decades and even I could see this card was a bad idea. And being forced to use proxies because your cards are self-marking is the most Hasbro statement I've ever heard.
As someone only just getting back into Magic after playing Japanese TCGs for the past decade or so, it's absolutely shocking to me how awful Magic's foiling is, and how not only are people okay with it but most players actually like to have foils
Wizards has experimented with a bunch of new foiling styles and techniques over the last 4 years. I think they are looking for something new that sticks with everyone. But most people are just happy with how things are right now; except tournament players of course :P
What's even funnier with the last couple years of doing so many collectors and special treatments that the foil version is the cheaper version than the non foil version of the traditional MTG style.
"He had to use proxy cards in place of the curved foils hand of fate cards so they wouldn't stand out in his deck and disqualify him from the game" Or.... and get this.... you could just.... make foils illegal to play.... or even just release non-foil versions of hand of fate....
@@NikachuMTG Yeah, card games can be pretty weird sometimes. And I don't even play Magic anymore, i never even played a TCG in person before, only in online simulators like MTG Arena.
This is why I advocate the need for a time clock similar to chess. Because many control players will take about 5 min on their own turn then another 5 min on their opponents turn as well!!!! So while you are playing 2-3 min per turn they are using twice as much time...... and then the game runs out of time!!!!
That’s not allowed via policy. Only cards printed in foil-only or damaged beyond sleeve playability in that event can be proxied by a judge. Everything else is a divination
@@NikachuMTG I'd get really unlucky playing against it - one time my opponent only had one copy in their deck - they found it, cast it, then shuffled, and I cut the deck, putting the card right back on top for him. Probably wasn't that unlucky. One aspect of foils is that when you cut the deck, it is more likely than not you are cutting to the foil card and placing that pile on top.

When Magic becomes Solitaire, geesh
I mean, how could they not have forsen this?
What would Nikachu's Grandpa think of Nexus of Fate???
A balanced card for the times.
I have a deck built with this card and omniscient temur spell slinger combo Deck... and my deck is edh legal.
This card text sounds a little bit like a banned card Primal Seed in Yugioh.
Well i guess good news that nexus got a list reprint in nonfoil so sleeving it won't be a problem anymore
btw, that David fella n the first game looks very similar to that poker player hm... could he be a poker pro too?
David is in fact the poker pro!
@@NikachuMTG oh man, i remember he had diamond earrings and seeing him on poker after dark and wsop many years back. Cool.
I love these stories soooo much! Nikachuuuuuuuuuuu /hug
I haven't played Magic for decades and even I could see this card was a bad idea. And being forced to use proxies because your cards are self-marking is the most Hasbro statement I've ever heard.
Anybody remembered Tempo from Spell fire?
Anybody remembers Spell fire?
I played this on arena, it was pretty much unbeatable lol.
YESSSS. IVE WAITED SO LONG. ❤❤
My fav videos about mtg!
Love to see your hair looking younger!
I'm aging in reverse now
@@NikachuMTG I can ship textbooks for High School curriculum next week 😎
Seems fine. The deck has a plan and it did it.
Oh boy emblems! I will forever love how you can't interact with them /s
This might be partially true because foils are so heavily printed that they aren’t so rare and special like they used to.
"He had to use proxy cards in place of the curved foils hand of fate cards so they wouldn't stand out in his deck and disqualify him from the game"
Or.... and get this.... you could just.... make foils illegal to play.... or even just release non-foil versions of hand of fate....
Or even allow checklist cards to take its place.
@@NikachuMTG Yeah, card games can be pretty weird sometimes. And I don't even play Magic anymore, i never even played a TCG in person before, only in online simulators like MTG Arena.
People who played Nexus of Fate, are probably the same people who play Milling Decks on MTGA. Which in my opinion is equally boring to watch.
Elite anarchist and Nexus of fate. Ya welcome
He’s back!
So… proxies are okay now?
Only if approved by the judges! (But you have to prove you own the real card)
4:13 what in the unholy hell
There are...whole ass companied selling anime proxys 😂
And YES. Theres also un-H-oly anime art...😂❤yw
This is why I advocate the need for a time clock similar to chess. Because many control players will take about 5 min on their own turn then another 5 min on their opponents turn as well!!!! So while you are playing 2-3 min per turn they are using twice as much time...... and then the game runs out of time!!!!
1. Join a vintage tournament with 60 islands
2. Have judges make your block lotus and power nine proxies 😂
That’s not allowed via policy.
Only cards printed in foil-only or damaged beyond sleeve playability in that event can be proxied by a judge.
Everything else is a divination
ouf i forgot the probleme online my got i was just pist
Were you stuck in a Nexus of Fate loop this whole time? Is that why you’ve been gone this long?😂
I finally broke free
YOOOOO FINALLY!
Smh nexus of fate has been out for a while why make it such a huge issue now?
lol, this is like a historical video. The card got banned where it was a problem.
I played through Standard when this was legal. Yikes.
You're a survivor! Personally I was playing mono blue tempo and it wasn't that big of a deal for me.
@@NikachuMTG I'd get really unlucky playing against it - one time my opponent only had one copy in their deck - they found it, cast it, then shuffled, and I cut the deck, putting the card right back on top for him.
Lmao. I don't care about losing though, I just like playing the game, but man was that unlucky.
Probably wasn't that unlucky. One aspect of foils is that when you cut the deck, it is more likely than not you are cutting to the foil card and placing that pile on top.
I dont care what anyone says, nexus of fate was my favorite deck.
