abandon hope isn't a card you're looking for, it's a message to your opponent. Also, your sideboard has another message "everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth"
Leyline into chalice for 0 on turn 0 was crazy! If I had known exactly what you were playing then I would have tried blue+white control with "Mindbreak Trap" to stop turn 1 combo by countering the "Thassa's Oracle" after letting "Doomsday" resolve, so then you'd have no cards left in the deck = lose. As well as "Tishana's Tidebinder" as an extra way to stop "Thassa's Oracle" and shutting down Sheoldred. Otherwise if I was going in blind then I would do legacy "pitchworld" where I would try to get "Chancellor of the annex" in my opening hand to slow you down as well as "Commandeer" and then my win condition is "Blazing Shoal" to attack for lethal.
When Nika finished his rant about being undefeated on the play, I immediately thought of Leyline, then thought fast mana into Null Rod would be the play
I used to run cheerios years ago in legacy, Glimpse of Nature with Kobolds, thopters, etc. into Grapeshot. Played against Dragonstorm I go off turn one, sideboard in some stuff. He's on the play game two, I drop Gemstone Caverns. He storms off, goes through a lot of his deck, then finally casts one more Ponder; I exile Elvish Spirit Guide to cast Brain Freeze, milling him out with a card draw for him on the stack. Not the best deck, but can't beat defeating an opponent on their first turn!
Wizards needs to print more *Stifle* effects! Almost all wincons are triggered abilities or repeatable activated abilities! The rest of the color pie besides blue can counter spells albeit with downside; the same needs to start happening with being able to counter Activations/Triggers.
Once played a casual game with a friend. His deck had no creatures, so I took out all my removal for game 2. That was when he sided in all his creatures.
I start with Leyline of Anticipation and Leyline of Sanctity in play. I play Black Lotus for green and play Channel, I play mox Jet and Mox Sapphire. I spend Sapphire to play Reconstruction and bring back Black Lotus for blue. Then play Counterspell targeting Thassa's Oracle and Ancestral Recall targeting me. Hold Priority, now I take myself down to 5 life and play Blightsteel Colossus and attach Swift Foot Boots. Then, I attack immediately giving you 11 poison counters before Thassa's Oracle can even resolve.
Equipping is done at sorcery speed, and you can't attack during your opponent's turn?? Also you're countering Oracle so what is the last sentence even about D: wtf
silly question: Thassas's Oracle, it doesn't have flash or can play from top of deck yet 99% of decks that run Thassas's Oracle just win on the spot in response to their deck being Milled/ exiled, how?
@@NikachuMTG Hmmm every time i face it they just win on the spot guess im unlucky lol. so basically it's the exact same as Laboratory Maniac if they can't flash it
Or if you have enough mana Demonic consultation is an instant So you try to play Thassa's Oracle on your turn, and as long as that resolves then you respond to the Thassa's Oracle trigger with Demonic Consultation to exile your deck so then either consultation resolves so that Oracle trigger wins you the game - or if opponent counters consolation then Oracle trigger just happens normally where it looks at the top two cards of your library to help you find more gas to try again
I was thinking on first sight of the deck leyline of anticipation into black lotus and then doorkeeper thrull or similar effect on thassa's oracle cast
lol! great game!! I just added 4 Leyline of Anticipation to my mostly Blue Crashing Footfalls Modern deck now that Violent Outburst got banned today. They didn't want us cascading at instant speed? Well too bad, now we're doing everything at instant speed!! Leyline of Anticipation, Leyline Binding, Leyline of the Guildpact, Scion of Draco, Shardless Agent, Crashing Footfalls, Subtlety, Lorien Revealed, Fire//Ice... all that's left is to name the deck 12-Leyline? Scion of DrawGo? CrashingLeylines? NoPlaceLikeTriome? What would you name this deck?
@@NikachuMTGYeah, I had to ask my buddy (who has a few entries on mtgtop8) if there was an even more budget decklist out there. This one is great but those lands are so crazy. I just got hired at Card Kingdom, maybe with discount I can get them haha
It's called Magic Online, also known as MTGO. It's free to join but the cards cost money. There's also rental services like Manatraders.com which let you rent cards for a monthly fee.
@@NikachuMTG Thanks for replying. Is there any platform you can play Magic online without spending any money ? I know there used to be a game called Magic Workstation that you could play with friends but I don't think it works anymore. I am just looking for a game to play MTG online but without spending real money.
See you had the ban list on them but not the restricted list. To be honest the normal vintage doomsday may of been better in certain ways, you relied on fast artifact mana too much. Vintage Doomsday isn't normally that weak to that style of hate. I think the biggest problem was your mana base ironically. Fetch lands and one basic swamp would of made it very hard to win against you. You were too focused on the instant kill, it is just a matter of not knowing the vintage meta very well.
oh my god when I saw that leyline of anticipation I LOST MY SHIT LAUGHING

and your opponent made the most magic move possible... spending the money to play more magic :D
I've played against Toothy a few times, solid player and always shows good sportsmanship. This was very refreshing to watch
When Nika finished his rant about being undefeated on the play, I immediately thought of Leyline, then thought fast mana into Null Rod would be the play
As someone who is just patiently waiting for the blue leyline to find its competitive home this was perfect
This is great!

"You Are Already Dead" is a fun card to telegraph with Demonic Consultation.
I was the one who suggested the lotus petal, demonic consultatation. Thassa's oracle combo over a year ago on your other video
I was thinking it would be a UG deck with Uro, stax, and counterspells. But Toothy's deck works too.

I agree! They started with Tishana’s Tidebinder but it shouldn’t stop there.
Always a great watch. Thanks Nikachu! ❤
a card called 'nevermore' can eliminate a combo piece but not sure if it can be casted fast enough.
That looked like a fun challenge.

thoracle is played in cEDH?! no. nobody knew that buddy

Well it doesn’t need flash if you intent to win the game on your turn. You play it, hope they don’t interact, and win through the trigger.

How did you get two blue mana for Thassa’s with two black lotus and a mox sapphire?
huh? At what point in the video.

what is more legendary .

I would have gone for my own turn 1 wins. There is possibilities altho they arent consistant.
I saw thoracle and immediately thought he was playing cEDH
I was able to turn two in timeless
Commender seems like a fun way to beat it 😅
Didnt know you could play magic on windows 95 still
layline of antisipation
Nikachu is the greatest. 😅
Hi nikachu any thoughts on banning violent outburst in modern 😊 thanks!
It probably doesn't change too much but will bring the power level of the Cascade down a bit. Personally I'm waiting for Grief to get axed.
I would have used FoN or FoW if i was your oponent
Dont let us wait so long for new uploads plsssss :))
I'm going to take a big break from competitive Magic to focus on this channel
