The shock absorber is dismantled from the car, and then the rack is disassembled using special equipment when the spring is compressed. Then the shock absorber is removed. This equipment is available at specialized services.
@@autodocuk , you might want to review your video before answering - you stated to use a "special socket" to spread the knuckle in order to remove the strut. Not sure where on earth you get the idea that a rack needs to be disassembled... It is the "special socket" used to *remove* the strut from the steering knuckle that the questioner refers to. Regards.
Center bolt holds on the strut Mount, which keeps the spring captive & under compression. You need Spring compressors to remove tension before removing the center bolt of else parts will go flying causing damage and/or harm.
@@laide3596 in this instance I do know what I'm talking about as the bolts are torque to yield so they are single use as per the manufacturers guidelines
Please forgive me if this is out of order. I have made a video about how to repair a Volkswagon Passat electric rear brake but no-one will see it unless I tell people on a popular channel like yours as I only have 11 subscribers.
2:52 Hilarious. Here it's just an 18 nut but on your anti roll bar link video it's a t30 and 18 combo, which is what it is on my car. This discrepancy totally fucked me.

is the top of the strut hold only by the 3 bolts? How about the center of the strut?

@@3lHefe91 DO NOT undo the centre nut while it's in the vehicle.
Again no autodoc videos for the Passat b6 seem to say about replacing bolts like the manufacturer says to renew various bolts on removal
Thanks for the clarification. In new videos, we will definitely add this information for our viewers.
Peter you have no idea about cars

I think the hub bolt is supposed to get turned an additional 180 degrees after reaching specified torque.
Thank you for your comment.
See this information in the technical documentation for the repair and maintenance of your car.

Why was the strut last two bolts was torqued after the car was on wheels?
always torque suspension under load
Ah I'll pay the mechanic €50 this looks to much for a driveway job. Great video
Thank you for sharing your opinion!
If you can get a mechanic do this for 50, marry him.😂
@rocknral €50 an hour for labour and I had the parts.
The music is unbearable.
Do you play the stupid music so we HAVE to put on the subtitle?
