Hello, I installed in front Bilstein B6 shock absorbers on my Passat B8 2017, but after short time front strut bearings got broken (cracks in the plastic part). The symptoms are as you described - knocking noises and poor suspension. After 3 changes of strut bearings, from Bilstein suggested the strut bearing notch to be aligned with the upper end of the coil/spring and mounting to be in this direction otherwise the coil/spring applies uneven pressure on the less thick part of the strut bearing and brakes it with knocking sounds coming back again. Tomorrow I will try to follow their advice with 4th change of strut bearings.
