Marko and Floor were probably the most dynamic duo that ever sang together and this is one of the best examples of why that is true. Both are top notch singers and is the main reason Marko can never be replaced. Him leaving was like losing my best friend years ago. There was just such a hole there and at any minute you expected him to walk thru the door. Of course it never happened and I don't think we will ever see Marko with Nightwish again. I have obviously been moving on but its still difficult when I see things like this. i love the song but I know I will never have the chance to experience it except on RUclips.

And I love the back and forth vocals between them. Another song that has that back and forth type vocal is Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (Buenos Aires 2018 show).
I tend to crack a joke about this legendary performance (the whole Wacken conert from 2013 is the most flawless concert i have heard and seen,from the execution from each member,to the production etc) That Marco is the only man able to withstand Floors seductive powers,trying to wave him over. Because you know i would risk it all to get across that river if it was Floor calling on the other side. 😍😳 Marco really goes into character here as Floors seductive opposite,wich makes for such strong and amazing storytelling. You dont see many bands that actually tell a story with theyr faces and bodies,alongside theyr singing like Nightwish does. Like i have had Metallica as my childhood heroes,but ill be the first to admit that they stand right up and down and just perform theyr songs. There is no real "storytelling". As far as lyrics goes,yeah i can end up being depressed and anxious thinking about the full story behind this one. I tend to avoid thinking too deeply over certain lyrics,eventhough i really love the song. I remember i had a similar feeling with Linkin Parks In The End,i had to cut off a friend who went abit too deep into the lyrics. Not to be rude,i just dont deal with all that too well,doesnt take alot when you have suffered mentally since early teenage years. 7:19 Thats the picture in my head,everytime i think of this song. How I'd love to travel back to 2013 and visit Wacken just so I could be there in person for Nightwish's performance. There's not one song from their set that isn't done to perfection.

I have heard most of Nightwish's songs multiple times but I love hearing how people interpret the music and give me new ways of looking at it. I have heard that the song is a duel between a troll and a mother. The troll is trying to convince children to cross the river so he can harm them and the mother is trying to woo them back to her. I also have heard that the mother is the evil one trying to lure the children to her and the troll is a friendly one trying to stop the children from crossing. An over simplification of the lyrics I am sure but does show Tuomas's genius in writing lyrics that are open to interpretation. I get a sense that Tuomas is exposing the dark places that are in all of us and the need to stay in touch with them ( to come across so to speak) so that they don't take us over and our need to drown them so that they don't manifest themselves in the real world.

Three plus weeks ago Nightwish did an hour-and-a-half sunset concert at Hellfest 2022 in France. Every song is terrific, including several of their newer pieces. It was live-streamed on ARTE (French and German television) and then uploaded with Nightwish's blessing to RUclips by ARTE. The video already has almost 1.5 million views. It took me weeks to.perfect Marko's tongue twisting chorus! Omg.is it satisfying to sing once you master it! So fun...a total quick banger!
