Hey Chat Show 👋 Your show is incredible. Thank you for making such quality podcasts with such quality guests. I listen to this Bill Hadar episode and the Larry David episode AT LEAST once a month.. Hanging out with you guys is a great way to pass the time!
Everything about this interview and exchange is captivating. Flag it because I think this may be the first time the internet offered up 2 and 1/2 hours of guilt free hypnosis.
Does anyone else think that the first ten minutes of Pineapple Express is one of the FUNNIEST things Bill Hader has ever done??? I do, it has me in tears every time. One of my favorite movies as well!
The entire interview Haders foot is tapping at a million miles an hour. But above the table he’s so calm. If that’s his anxiety he’s incredible at compartmentalizing it.
Saw the Tom hanks interview what an educational experience and the two hours flew now I’m finding about Hader’speanut allergy hilarious and scary story comic fodder and movie magic!!
Love that format. "So we'll have just like a table and uncomfortable chairs from some shitty small business break room in front of a black curtain, and 2 kids off to the side planning the Hillel freshman mixer."
Love the format of this show. Two hour+ allows for an open and interesting interview. Enjoyed the twitter game (even though I "lost") and the randomness of the Larry King Game! Bill Hader was a great guest. Thanks KPCS.
I absolutely loved the Fart Face sketch. I've always been surprised it's not one of the more talked-about sketches of recent history, it's so damn classic. I literally clapped alone in my apartment at the mention of it. I would have loved seeing the Kacey/Jacey Kasem sketch, maybe they'll do it on Second Chance Theater on Late Night.
21:12 What's truly amazing is watching this line kill, as it should, it's f'ing hilarious, but then go watch the sketch, and the line just bombs. Audiences suck, amirite? 27:15 Hader humbles himself, Pollak lifts him up. What a couple of classy guys.
I honestly think that "sassy asides" line bombed because it sounds like he said "save your sassiest sides" and by the time you realize what the line was, it's too late.
I could just listen to Bill Hader, doing "one man show" versions of funny moments (from his life/career) - especially when he's doing Seth Rogan - nonstop...indefinitely.
Is it just me or is the funniest moment in this is in the beginning when Jaime is talking about Disney and Sam looks like he is just trying to maintain some feigned interest while making bewildered expressions?
Very good.. as candid as bill burr's and funny as Larry Davids... the 4th fav is Tom Hanks so ty to all. Hope you are still doing these especially with Top tier guests
This is the best KPCS episode hands down. Bill Hader is the funniest man alive and that is not an opinion, that is fact my friends. And don't mess with Sam.. come on, come on.
I listen to the KPCS as I walk around Brookline, MA in search of something interesting (no luck so far). I may have looked crazier than usual as I was laughing out loud (is there an abbreviation for that?) listening to Kevin and Bill Hader exchange stories and spot-on imitations. My only complaint was that it was half as long as it should have been. It should be at least as long as a Cubs/Giants rain delay.
I work at Barnes and Noble, and I can testify that the cashiers (and managers) do have a gun to their head to sell those memberships. We're read the numbers every morning. Sometimes I think our book sales could fall by half, but if our member card sales doubled, there'd be a party. Figuratively speaking, of course.
I grew up on the comedy boom and really enjoyed that bubble while it lasted. Enjoyed SNL during a good period of that, and afterwards (personally.) it receded a bit, but Hader has always been a favorite. Nice to get to see him out of character, and kinda where he's at.
I worked as a PA on a Japanese beer commercial shot on the WB lot that was starring Schwarzeneger back in around the year 2000. It was a 5 day shoot, and I think Arnold worked about a cumulative 8 hours on it (that's including a portion that was just a photoshoot inside a soundstage). If that camera wasn't literally close up on his face, it was his stunt double doing the work (who was, if I remember right, a German guy named Dieter, he was actually really cool and nice). But yea Arnold had 3 massive trailers all parked in a row: one was his "living quarters", one was just a kitchen, and one was just a workout/gym area, and we were explicitly told as the lowly production workers we were never supposed to walk in between them. I know this so well because I got in trouble violating it once lol.. I was in such a rush to find and say something to the production manager (HE was allowed between them), I'd forgotten and I get like 20 feet into the "no walk-zone", he sees me and starts freaking out, waving his arms telling me to go around.
