  • @MFEGoingDeep a nice early morning look below the surface at Schoodic Lake. As I started out I found there to be all kinds of smelts probably the most I’ve seen at one time searching the different lakes since I’ve been doing this, they seemed to be everywhere along the bottom and not real deep either 30’ to 40’. I was thinking wow there has to be some predator fish lurking nearby there’s just too much bait here and sure enough a pack of lake trout emerged from the darkness feeding their way towards me which I thought was pretty cool! Found some more lake trout a little later on in a different area and was able to swim along beside them, I couldn’t believe how fast the last one by itself sped off into the lake with just a quick flick of its tail!
Also recovered a few old bottles here and there. The last bottle I pulled from where it drops right off at Norway point, it seemed almost vertical with how steep of an angle it is. When I went to grab that bottle and needed to readjust you can see it drop down another few feet just from tapping it. It was nice to see the smelt population looking robust and some lakers as well!

SO interesting. I thought the temperature inversion (warmer when deeper in one spot) was quite surprising. A spring maybe? Quite a bunch of togue. Thanks.

I think potentially the temp gauge just hadn’t caught up and dropped for that bit of video. There’s usually a lag, especially in the beginning then it catches up. Could be wrong though! 🤷‍♂️

Very interesting.. how about Lake Megunticook along Rt 52. Obviously the mountain used to go straight down into the lake before the road was built

Fish are interesting, but lets find some sunken boats and a revolutionary war cannon.

I have a few other videos with sunken steamships in Moosehead Lake, but yes there will be some more of that type of thing as well!
