    Just some information. You can indeed machine cast vinyl. I wouldn't machine printed vinyl but almost all decent single colour vinyl is cast these days. You can also heat the vinyl as it has some self healing properties.

    Cracking job done on a very smart motor. I visited Infinity Wax last year and picked up a couple of wheel cleaning products on my way to St Andrews from Glasgow. I found the products very good but I predominately use Mitchell & King products as they are 5 minutes from home and John the owner is always very approachable and helpful. I am also a huge fan of waxing cars and he manufactures great waxes. I always think a coating is the way to go on white cars as it is not so easy to see where you have been with a wax I had a white Fiesta ST and a white 208 GTI so I have plenty experience but they do look good when detailed properly. Ceramic coating is not something I would do but I guess it is not much more difficult than using Garage Therapy CS as it needs to be leveled and buffed with great results but not the durability. I like to change my protection regularly and have a few waxes I have not tried yet so a 2 year coating is not for me and I regretted putting a 5 year Gyeon coating on my Mini JCW and a wash, decontamination & 2 stage polish and coating was £750 but it was in for 4 days if I remember correctly. I liked and subscribed as I like to follow Scottish content..

  • @gges1605
    @gges1605 Год назад +2

    probably not a good idea to advise people they will get the same results at home as a professional will give the ceramic coating only a small part of the overall process car has to be ready for the coating to start with and not everyone can clean a car so it’s swirl free ready to put the coating on and most ceramic coatings need to stay dry for a good few hours after they are done so doing in a driveway is not ideal

    • @HomeBuilt
      @HomeBuilt  Год назад +1

      Hi Gary, I do talk about preparing the vehicle during the video and also mention machine polishing so I’m sure people get the idea. The great thing about Synergy is it is designed to be used in any conditions, you can do it in your drive at home. You can even machine polish at home fairly risk free these days with the tools and products available so I do believe that if you take your time and follow the steps you can get the same results.

    • @gges1605
      @gges1605 Год назад +2

      @@HomeBuiltI will need to give those products a go currently use Rupes polishes and pads and Bilthamber products they are very hard to beat on either performance or price I do like Meguiars quick detailer I’ve used a lot of their other products for a number of years until i found Bilthamber. Most ceramic coatings need to be kept dry for several hours after they are applied so trying to do them on driveway could be very risky they do not harden straight away and if it rains and car gets wet it is going to make a mess of paintwork and be very difficult to sort out. I have had a look at Synergy website however and their claims that this product can actually be used outdoors due to a sacrificial layer that's a major breakthrough in the use of these coatings as before you had to wait at least 24hrs before you could even drive vehicle which was the main reason I was skeptical about advising someone to do on driveway.

    • @HomeBuilt
      @HomeBuilt  Год назад +1

      I love Rupes, id love to invest in one of the polishers one day.
      My main attraction to Infinity Wax is the way they formulate the products. They make professional grade products that are designed for the guy in his driveway.
      Also not too expensive.

    1:20 - You should be carrying out chemical decontamination procedures before using any sort of clay bar or mitt, this reduces the amount of marring you put into the paintwork considerably, however you should always machine polish a car following any mechanical decontamination as regardless of the paints condition, the use of any form of abrasive (yes a clay bar technically counts as a form of mechanical abrasion, even if it is extremely mild) will leave marring in the paintwork.
    Not only is machine polishing a good idea following mechanical decontamination, but it is a good idea prior to applying any coating - even if just a very light polishing compound is used - as it will remove any remnants of previous protection products and allow for a bare and clean paint surface for the prospective coating to bond to (after panel wiping of course).
    Just a few tips from an IW Accredited detailer👋
    *Edit* - I also feel the need to state that the quality of work you would get from a professional detailer will ABSOLUTELY be miles above and beyond the quality you would get by having a crack at it on your driveway with a few beers and a quick wash... I have utter respect for people wanting to take a swing at it themselves, but I think its wholly inappropriate to say that anyone can do this on their driveway and get the same results as a professional who will without doubt provide a noticeably better result.
    Its not cool to deminish someones livelihood so casually, that poor chap wasnt even charging a lot of money and you're basically telling people he's ripping them off because "anyone can do it themselves".
    For the record, my coating packages *start* at £399 for a one year coating and single stage correction, and carry on well into the thousands for multi stage correction and long life coatings.
