  • I dropped one of my Opinel's on the garage floor damaging the edge so I decided to make a shot vid of me touching it up on a diafold diamond sharpener. #DMT #DIAFOLD #OPINEL

Super late, but nice video brotha. I am looking at getting one of the double-sided ones. I may have missed it, but did you say what you are spraying on the stone?

Opinel’s convex grind is one of the primary benefits of the line IMHO; are you abandoning that and putting on a V grind?

I have thinned it out a bit but it still has convexity.

The handle has a contour to it that is different from the ones they have on their website now. Maybe they changed the design since this was a couple of years ago.

They don't change the design too often as far as I know and they've been making these a while. The notch you see is one I put in there, makes opening it a tad easier for me especially if wet and the wood swells a bit. Also can just tap the butt of the knife on something and the blade will pop out just enough to open easier.

Thanks for the reply, sorry I guess I wasn't specific enough. I'm talking about the DMT handle having a contour where the ones I see are just straight handles. @@NORTHWESTKNIFEGUY

I have the inox no12, love it but I am not sure I have the good angle… it’s sharp but not that sharp 😅

I thought you wernt suppose slide the knife back and forth. Only 1 direction... ?

No either one will work. Just need to make sure the edge is fully apexed (most do this by forming a burr on each side) then remove burr.

Would you all recommend using a DMT for sharpening garden tools as opposed to knives?

I've used em' for that before so I see no problem with it. :-)

They are definitely up to the job. I’ve sharpened axes, lawnmower blades, a pair of limb loppers, and more with diafolds.
One day I’m going to try sharpening a 2-man crosscut saw with them.
