My Dad loved Harry Nilsson, especially this song, he was a medic in the Vietnam war, born in 1948, he would have been 74 in 2 days. I lost him 11 years ago and I play this song and sing along as if he is right here with me. I won’t let him leave my love behind ❤️
Jeez... that's a little scary. I'm 74 now and yeah... at some point, your life ends. Sigh... I just want to live long enough to watch the US explode in 2024... lmao!
I close my eyes and let this music flood over and through me and I'm not 70 I'm 18 again. Just graduated from high school with my whole life ahead of me. Where has the time gone?
Dear Lydia, your words touch me deeply. Your words are my own. And Soldier is correct... damn, it has been one hell of a ride. I'm going now to hear George Burns sing I Wish I Were Eighteen Again... and the tears that want to fall now... will flow. May I close with a saying from the old times... Peace. (No one uses that word that way anymore... not even me, and I use to use it all the time. We need it now... more than ever.)
I was 18 years old when this song was released. The Vietnam war was raging on and I was scared that I would be drafted. I had a beautiful girlfriend. Hearing Nilsson’s incredible voice singing this incredible song takes me back to 1968 and a pivotal time in my life. Thank you Nilsson. I wish you were here with us
I'm only 52 but as a child in the 70's, my mom played this song all the time. She's 74 and her health is failing. It takes me back when I was a tot living in our 2 bdrm apt. Dad always at work or fishing so that gave me a lot of time with her. My mother made me love all kinds of music. This one is one of my favorites. ❤

I always loved this song and often felt people "talking at me" and not to or with me but more themselves, beliefs or perceptions whether true or not. A note to self would occur where I could navigate my own reality while not becoming scripted or constrained by other people's fears or limitations.
I grew up listening to Nilsson because of my Step Father. We also loved the point, had the album and loved the animation movie. He was so talented. Still love him now

What A beautiful song from an amazing artist 😊 even the Beatles thought 🤔 he was exceptional left us too early 😢we always lose the best and brightest Rip harry Nielsen 😢 gone never forgotten
For me, this song always brings back a particular moment in time. I remember this song playing on the radio when I was a toddler, on an overcast day, at my grandmother's house.
That's so beautiful, thank you for sharing that. I was also just a tot when it came out, and share a fond nostalgia for that time. And for some reason, an overcast day puts me in mind of this music; being in the house instead of playing outdoors...maybe because back then it was an actual act to play an LP on the stereo, or to turn the radio on and have it fill the house, instead of just pressing "play" on the appendages we've grown i.e. our smart phones. xoxo
@@just4music687 Thank you. And yes, I agree. At my nan's house, the radio was what she listened to only her music on, and if the stereo was on then it was my aunt's or uncle's music playing. So many of my earliest music memories are attached to a particular moment in time, such as where I was, what kind of day or night it was, etc.
My dad had his greatest hits on vinyl. I’d pop it on the record player, put the headphones on and listen over and over. This and Sound of Silence were my favorites in the late 70’s, early 80’s.

Nos compraban ropa solo para el 18 de septiembre o en navidad si es k había dinero si no, no. One of the most under rated artist ever bec of stage fright … if I had his voice I’d be strutting like Tina Turner .. he was GREAT and this song will never grow old ..
This song tugs at my heartstrings more than most. Harry was a multidimensional singer, but this was my favorite. Remember Lime in The Cocoanut? That man could do it all. Harry called the doctor and woke him up. :)
I remember this in 1969, my last year of primary school, Neil Armstrong said, “One small step for man, I giant leap for mankind!” The Beatles' last public performance was on the roof of Apple Records, First Concorde test flight was conducted In France & the Vietnam war ravaged our country. Meanwhile the Archies sang “Sugar Sugar”. What a memorable moment!
I spot on!! I was a young Marine in NAM, I bought the cassette through the PX. I just loved it. Among others, that period of music was/is unequaled !!! The weed in NAM matched the music !!! Dam what a time.
@@arlingtonhynes Yes, it is !!! The song "The lime and the coconut" and "Without You" come from that album. It has a black and white cover. You can bring it up on UTUBE.

Música simplesmente maravilhosa!
I was living in Germany as an Army Brat in 1968. Beat Club was on German TV. I saw this on their show. Good times👍
What a memory
Congratulations
Brilliant song brilliantly sang
What A beautiful song from an amazing artist 😊 even the Beatles thought 🤔 he was exceptional left us too early 😢we always lose the best and brightest Rip harry Nielsen 😢 gone never forgotten
For me, this song always brings back a particular moment in time. I remember this song playing on the radio when I was a toddler, on an overcast day, at my grandmother's house.
🌹🌹🌹
Was this song in the croods trailer or something?
God this is as good as it gets. All of the sudden obsessed with this song.😊
WHAT AN AMAZING VOICE,I'M CRYING NOW

Just gorgeous. Soul-wrenching gorgeous.
My dad had his greatest hits on vinyl. I’d pop it on the record player, put the headphones on and listen over and over. This and Sound of Silence were my favorites in the late 70’s, early 80’s.
I'm so mad that this man is not still with us. He was talented.
Don't be mad. Be grateful he was ever with us.
*Such beautiful music, and the year we arrived to this beautiful country, life was good, and it just kept getting better.*
Now that a good story welcome to the USA hope you come in peace.

Ay me desahogue JiJiJi

The genius is in the songwriting and the performance too.
Ah!

That's one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
One of the most under rated artist ever bec of stage fright … if I had his voice I’d be strutting like Tina Turner .. he was GREAT and this song will never grow old ..
So glad that I grew up in the greatest eras that we’ve ever had!!! Our music is priceless!
great song
The flowing ,rippling sound is exquisite
I was 3, very hard to listen to the beautiful past 💔
One of the best songs of the swinging 60's.
Among many !!! The 60s and 70s produced unequal music for everyone !!!
Cool guy with an amazing voice. I hung out with him in the 80's a few times. Some great talks at a local watering hole
What a year !
The album Neilson smeilson is a masterpiece, top 10 album of all time, give it a listen!!!
I spot on!! I was a young Marine in NAM, I bought the cassette through the PX. I just loved it. Among others, that period of music was/is unequaled !!! The weed in NAM matched the music !!! Dam what a time.
You, was supposed to be first word !!
@@arlingtonhynes Yes, that is his best Album.
@@richardalexander4300 There is no album by that name.
@@arlingtonhynes Yes, it is !!! The song "The lime and the coconut" and "Without You" come from that album. It has a black and white cover. You can bring it up on UTUBE.
