Tip 21: Stop overthinking, just play the game. Eventually you will get better the more you play the game. When I say the more you play the game, I meant the more you play it by time, in a year or two you will see the difference.
Yes , I said a year or two. Let's be honest here, unless you are talented and can easily learn stuff, you won't really reach platinum,diamond,immortal,radiant.. those four ranks where the game starts to actually become competitive.
Iron to Gold is filled with a lot of egotistical people, people who just want to prove something rather than have fun playing. Instead of having fun they end up being toxic and overwork themselves.
You won't become like TenZ or ScreaM or etc in under a year.. don't forget, these people have played CS GO for almost their entire life.

It’s amazing how much all these online games have in common, like I’ve played ranked pretty decently in both siege and dota 2 and now I’m getting into valorant. The quickest way in all is to always support your team and kinda boost them forward and set them up for success, it’s kinda the dirty job and it’s not glamorous but in all competitive games it seems like the way to go especially if your not the best with aim or whatever, just learn maps and smokes or whatever the “support” role is and you’ll be going places 🤷‍♂️

The thing that got me out of the plat mindset is
    1. Don't be scared to lock in duelist
    2. Try not to fill unless you have to
    3. Its ok to lose a match, you feel like you've wasted your time but it's just time to improve
    4. Play other games to refresh your brain and have fun (i often play apex to reset my mind)
    5. Don't think that you lost ONLY because you top fragged, chances are they just had a bad game
And the last thing is, if your low elo and is scared to botfrag and get Trashtalked just trashtalk them back by saying "it's just a gold game bro, are you a pro or something? "

Coming from Rocket League, I tell my teammates all the time that they make me look good. They could be the same rank, lower rank, higher rank, but they played their part so well, they literally spoon fed me a goal.
Same thing applies in Valorant. I may not be the best aimer, but if my teammates set me for a nice little 3k-4k, I look insane to spectators and the enemy team. I did nothing special, my teammates did the work, and I stole the credit. I know, it sounds really bad. But to the trained eye, they know that the person only got that insane 3k-4k because of a teammate's play.

ssl in rl and i can tell you rn it differentiates so much from what end of the rank system you're at (most of the time). iron-gold is all solo play and high gold-radiant teamwork can help sooo much. valorant is also a game where you can just stomp if you play reyna and 1v4-5 every round. it's not the most consistent but i feel it's the most consistent in super low ranks. realistically once you hit plat it's a lot harder and team play is a lot more important. my duo says the exact same thing you say lol

Regarding number 12 and communication: I've noticed that the better I personally communicate in a match, the better my team as a whole communicates in that match. It's like someone just needs to break the communication ice by doing it first. As arrogant as it might seem, many people aren't natural leaders. They are much more comfortable following someone else's lead. Be the leader in effective communication by doing it first.

The only thing I would add to the bit where you talk about Viper being necessary on Breeze and Sage on Icebox, I would say KJ is a MUST on Ascent! It's just too hard to push B site that has a KJ setup, unless you have a KAYO which you can't always anticipate. The amount of times I've died to KJ on Ascent because of the specific lineup with swarms on Lane and her Bot across main is just INSANE. But thank you so much, this video is amazingly helpful, and I'm going to utilize lots of them in my gameplay! :) Keep it up.

this goes kinda in the direction of play something you know instead of filling, but try to play like you want and play agents that reflect that.
    Don't avoid you weaknesses.
Don't play a agent like sage, because you might have more impact now by healing, stalling and never actually get in a gunfight. Do the opposite: embrace your lack of aim and play agents with flashes like training wheels. You get a bigger window for aiming at the enemy before they kill you so you get real engagements

    • @notgaphafn4614
      @notgaphafn4614 3 года назад +3

@@bananabuscotch8226 , the reason ur inconsistent might be because you rely too much on a gimmick, an example is jett, jett can get out of a ridiculous amount of situations, she has smokes for cover, a broken dash and updrafts which allow her to take weird angles. It might be you're relying too much on your utility which allows you to survive in situations other agents couldn't, I play brimstone mostly, but also jett and reyna, with a more passive playstyle and by not trying to make unnecessary plays when they are not needed. Yes I don't get 30+ kills even though I could since I have very good aim for my rank, but instead I play it smart and let the enemies be with a disadvantage

I’ve been playing video games in general for around 12 years and started playing comp around 12 years old (not official tournaments but just some random tournaments here and there that people host) and the thing with valorant is yes aim is important but with val it’s different type of aiming it takes a different kind of skill you need crosshair placement and know the spread of the guns because when I first played val it was so incredibly difficult cause I’m use to call of duty and apex aiming so it was major hard to get use to it

    • @Kingkhan0440
      @Kingkhan0440 3 года назад +10

But now I feel like I’ve gotten pretty decent at it I can get like 10 kills on average a game and the biggest thing to take away from val is that you gotta learn callouts and the maps cause that will reflect on your aiming big time because if your good at aiming but don’t know the maps your not gonna know where any of the corners are or what angles you can take advantage of and so learning about the game can generally make you better

Sure, I'm still bottom frag, sure my ratings are super low, but I learned more about the map, I'm getting better at using my gimmicks, I'm still giving my team useful info even if I die, and I feel content getting assists because it means I am contributing SOMETHING, lol.
Pretty certain my elo is wood, but I can only go up from here, ya know? 😅

Got some teamate that wasn't playjng optimally (instalock reyna then proceed to die super fast on defense round) im at bronze 3, my team and enemy are a mix of silver and bronze. Suppressed my rage and tried to play best as i can. Come out with a comeback with 40 kills :v. The reyna listen eventually as long as u dont blame and tried to give advice instead of orders. By round 17ish we became a solid team and win the game. ( I was using viper based on the tip to have at least 1 controller)

That's awesome, being toxic loses way more games than you think. I used to be on both sides of the spectrum of toxicity and when i was toxic but played really optimally I was losing games because my teams mental was broken from their own teammate breaking them down from the inside. And when i was playing optimally and praising teammates for doing well or giving advice when needed then most of the games i played like that seemed to be won really easily or have a really awesome comeback.

There's a strategy video I saw that filling a smoker for your team is more important than choosing your own preferred agent because there are maps that makes smokes very essential, and you just have to deal with your agent by doing more with frags since it's the staple skill every player should have.

I have some questions if any comment readers are willing to answer!
Okay so I’m not necessarily new to shooters, but Valorant feels like a whole new world. Not only is the game extremely different from others in the actual strategy and game play, people use terms and names that they just expect others to know, but new players like myself do not understand.
Like I understand a “wide swing” probably means taking a corner widely, but is hat correct? Is that bad? when do you do that and why not? What is swinging together and how to do it well and when?? Trading??
Baiting teammates? I actually don’t understand this one, I’m assuming you basically make your teammates think you’re covering an area but you’re not and then they die?
Counter strafing. “Most players know what it is but-“ umm okay so what about is that don’t? How do you do it well? In the clip of the strafing it looked like they were not hitting the center which seems counter productive. The goal is to hit the target in front of you, correct? So how is that beneficial? Also I thought you weren’t supposed to move while shooting??
When to push smokes! Do you just sit and waste time for the 15 seconds or what? I’ve been watching so many Valorant videos and I can’t find one that is actually discussing this stuff. It’s all extremely basic knowledge like “you buy guns at the beginning of the round!” Or they have more intermediate knowledge but it’s very vague. Someone please help me lmao I want to go into comp as a semi competent player

10:00 yea this is me. I practice counterstrafing for around 20 mins before going into games but I find myself rarely using it in game because I hit on or two shots so I just instant commit to the kill instead of counterstrafing, or the enemy will hit me a few times so in my head there doesn’t seem to be a point in moving to stop shooting because they will just kill me, but I’m sure if I actually start doing it I will end up winning more fights

Like if i ask a teammate to swing with me and we both die because of it without any progress ill feel like crap

    1. Aim isn't that important
    2. Bad teammates can still be good (play off teammates dumb pushes)
    3. Teamplay is important
    4. Play less = Rank up more
    5. Controller is a must have
    6. Everything else doesn't matter
    7. Crossfires are important (esp for 5 man pushes)
    8. Crosshair Placement is the Whole game
    9. Baiting teammates is really easy (to do unintentionally)
    10. Dying from the map
    11. Pushing smokes is often a bad idea
    12. Communication is really hard but really valuable
    13. You need counter strafe more (the point of counter strafing is to make yourself more difficult to hit)
    14. Don't rely on gimmicks too much
    15. Pay attention to pro play
    16. Record your games
    17. Play with people better than you (challenging
    18. Toxic players won't say anything useful

Maybe it helped that i had 300 hours in CSGO before and watched a lot of pro tournaments and my game sense developed, but i got an ace with 2 breach flashes, and a faultline in a 1v5 on haven on attack because of 70% luck, 30% peeking 2 blind enemies at a time.
