I own an '07 and I love it, it's everything you have said. I first drove one (an '06) in 2007 my dad had, and fell in love with these cars. My son has the platinum triple black edition (2010) and THAT was my dream car back in 2010 (no way I could afford it though). They are wonderful cars. They are still around today but thier numbers are dwindling. Love your presentation on this car.
I used to own a 2009 DTS with the front bench and the factory navigation system. Pearl white with the cashmere leather interior, I loved that car but it got stolen a few weeks back and I’m just left with my 2011 Escalade right now. I miss it.
Love this car. I just sold mine and realized I can't do without it. Consequently I'm looking to replace it with a newer low mileage one like a 2010 or 11. Looks like you found a good one.
I have a 2007 DTS Silver in Color. I do not drive it everyday but I love the car and plan to keep it. They did better improvements on the Northstar and I have seen them with high miles especially in these years. I love that fact that people are scared of them because I can buy them cheap. I have 94,000 miles and the car is in outstanding condition for $4750.00 out the door from a private owner.
We've had Caddy's for decades. Recently, we had a used 2006 DTS Performance with the HO Northstar engine and a new 2007 DTS Luxury. The '06 had the oil leak issues, the 2007 was a new car so no issues. Don't count out the XTS. We had a new 2013 XTS Luxury, a used 2013 XTS4 Premium and now I drive a used 2016 XTS Premium. I wish it were all-wheel drive as I really liked that about the 2013. It's been a great car so far, only 56k miles and I don't drive as much as I used to so am looking forward to driving it for a long time!
I've got a 2006 DTS Crimson Pearl with the NHP motor. Needs work but I love it! Parts are middle of the road for cost but I do all my own work too. Barely touch the gas pedal and it literally takes off..scary fast. A wolf in sheep's clothing.
It's only because the cars had got a bad rep about the overheating, but without that problem you just end up in love with these cars, they are simply fine made, not perfect but its own its own and the Northstar has this sound that you fall in love with, it's a strong mild bold sound that they all make, you have to own one to know smh ..
Had a 2006 DTS, 2002 Seville STS, and 1999 Seville STS. Although the 2002 Seville STS is my favorite of the 3. I liked the remote start factory feature in the DTS
I'm a Town Car Crown Vic fan, and all those cars require exhaust manifold replacement, and it's hard to find a low mileage car that isn't selling for top dollar. These cars are value for the money. Strikeout the headgasket issue and if you can find one with a good body, you're laughing. These and the 06+ RWD STS are good cars. Thankfully the DTS doesn't have the electronic door handle. I saw one with over 250,000miles/400,000km so they do stay together. Undercoat the chassis with oil, do yourself a solid and undercoat it because rust is what is killing these cars. You can spray a can of PAM up in the fenders and bumper seam if you are too cheap to take it somewhere. LOL!! The rust always seems to be the rear chassis, to the front of the rear wheel. Front mudflaps are a must on these cars, yet few ever have them installed. All that water and road debris (and salt, if applicable) ends up at the back, thus what's causing the rust forward of the back wheels.
Im 55 years old i remember the okder cafillacs from the 70s and 80s , they was the best realible cars , i never even think about buying a 2007 20010 cadillac dts , then one day i was passsing by a nieghborhood, i see a 2007 cadillac 3 way black ! I had a 89 and 99 Deville, they had what was called a governor which prevented the car from traveling over 85mph. Another great car was the Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite from 1991, it was known as a Cadillac without the high price tag, same parts.
Just bought my first Cadillac..an 08 DTS. Little old lady owned, only 17,600 miles on the odometer. My great grandfather owned one before he passed. I couldn’t believe the miles and picked it up immediately.
@@spiriteddrivesunreliablecars totally. Really enjoying it. Keeping my eye on the oil when I fill up. I’ve been using premium fuel only. Balanced and mounted the tires.. new engine air filter and cabin air filter.. going to moisturize and protect the seats with some 303.. it sat in a garage most of its life. As far as ride quality, just as good as my 22 Silverado RST on 20’s.
Good tour. Well said! It's neither super firm nor obnoxiously soft. Really a happy medium in most every area. The nav radio is definitely tragically under-equipped on this model (nav wasn't standard with any trim until maybe the last couple of years, sadly). Most of the used examples of the DTS that I've seen are the middle-class, (with ventilated seats and heated steering wheel, but the base-level sound system and leather wheel) but what you've got here is the best one (adds wood steering wheel and better sound system, but without the "performance" trim's expensive active suspension system). It's a delightful balance of performance, efficiency, and practicality. The 4T80E transmission is also said to be far more robust than the 4T65E that made its way into the other GM cars of the era with less "scary" engines.
Bought a 2008 DTS, retired it. Bought a 2016 Cadillac SRX. Drove it 2 years until I could find another DTS. Driving my second DTS the last few years. I prefer it over any other car, even my XLR-V parked in storage.
Add another great road car to add to your short list. I had an 87 Olds Aurora and absolutely loved it. I was covering 14 state territory as a sales person. Lots of long miles. 250k with no problems. Sold it and I’m still kicking myself.
It's crazy because I find it a normal thing for one to decide to sale the car only to end up wanting to get another one it's like you end up missing the car, it really does that to you, it's not just me, it's common to most owners who ever had one ....
Ben: I had a brand new 2007 BMW 530i. It was in the shop all the time!! I found myself driving their PT Cruiser loaners sometimes for weeks while they had my car. I traded it in 2 years. I couldn't take it anymore. The car was $60K!!! The sad thing is I had traded my 2003 Cadillac Deville that was awesome. Cadillac had fixed the issues with the Northstar and the leaks, and even replaced the piston rings! I was such a fool. That's life I guess.
You have my sympathies! Been there, done that as well! I gave in to the wife's desire and purchased a BMW 735iL. I admit I loved the sound, interior, the ride... all of it. BUT it almost immediately gave us mechanical issues that were, frankly, ridiculous. I turned around and sold it fairly quickly.

I have almost that exact same car great car. My dad bought it in 2008 when he was 88 he passed away the next year so it’s the last of the eights I’m keeping it I only got 89,000 miles on it so far it runs like a top. The only bad part is when the front lightbulbs go out it’s a big job to change the bulbs
Good to note. I may have to change the covers on both, not sure yet. That annoying yellowing thing. I'm going to try a couple tricks I've had semi-success with in the past on other cars I own first. Fingers crossed!
Hi I just started watching your videos like your videos I bought a Cadillac DTS new in 2008 I still have it now the car has 34 thousand miles on it I don’t drive it much but it’s been a great car
Man I hear you I was the same way about Cadillac. But then my daughter totaled her car and I decided to give her my old truck rather than getting her something newer to wreck. That put me in the market for a used car and like you said that sucks right now. Long story short I scored a 2011 DTS, looks just like yours, with only 30K miles and I freaking love it! I get happy every time I drive it. Like you I was concerned over the NorthStar but after talking to a few guys that know and doing my research I was comfortable with the later models, wouldn't touch one before 2006. But man I am so jealous you have the column shift! I don't know the numbers but you rarely see them but man I like that in a Caddy so much more than the floor shift. Enjoy the ride man I know I do every time!
I have a 03 deville ,with 140 k that wasn't maintained but I love it ,I have found a 07 dts that I'm going to look at with 70k I'm so excited and they still get 21 ish mpg around town and can pull almost 30 on the highway if your mindful I would love one of the last Eldorado
I love my mint condition 07 DTS on Vogues with only 55k miles. Garage kept and it does not see rain or snow. I have it on top of a 3 inch rubber mat that covers the length of the car to separate it from the concrete….I call it Pharaoh’s Chariot💪🙂
That's exactly how I end up with a 06 dts lol I really didn't want it because it was my 3rd cadi 97,01 some how I bought it anyway smh now it's growing on me sheesh but the ride is exactly how you explained it but have to say it spoiled me,it's like a love and hate relationship with it long as it don't start hitting me to hard in the pocket I'll hold on to it as long as I can because of the ride...
I have a 92 Coupe DeVille I hope to RWD convert someday. 02 Deville, parked due to severe oil leaks. 08 DTS, parked because I have to deal with a moisture issue due to the sunroof. Oil leaks are starting. I'll be resealing that one eventually. Currently working on my 00 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi beater then I have to put an 07 Colorado back together. Then I'll be starting to work on they Cadillacs. I think my 08 is around 190k miles bought with 56k. I beat the crap out of the 02 and 08. Especially the 02. Probably going to steal the throttle body and brakes to put in my Bonneville from the 02. I modded my Bonneville to use the same style cabin air temp sensor as my 08 with the little blower fan instead of stubs that goes to the HVAC box.
After 2005 the northstar became a little better with head gasket issues, however not 100% i absolutely love love these older cadillacs just wish they gave another powertrain option 😐
We are becoming a Cadillac family. My dad owned 10 of them over his life and although he passed away in 1994, my wife picked up the tradition in 2002 buying a brand new White Diamond Deville. She still has it- That's our number 1. Then she bought a 2017 CT6 black over black. Then she goes to a garage sale in 2021 and finds a 2011 DTS that's being sold by owner. Only 32,000 miles. Cherry Red .She buys it. Now we are up to three. Then I see on Bring a Trailer a beautiful Silk Green 2006 DTS with a dark green canvas top. I buy it. Now we are up to four. The favorite? All three 'old school' Deville/ DTS's. You can have the CT6- too much 'performance suspension' for us- it's just not a Cadillac anymore. Still a nice car and beautiful too but give me the old ones with the Northstar. By the way my wife's 2002 has 161,000 miles and she's running strong with only minor repairs in 22 years! AC Still blows cold too.
Whats not to like about this car? I get that the Northstar is questionable but by 2008 they were much improved. At one time you could get these very reasonable but everything now is priced way more than they are worth. I would have no problem having that car as my everyday driver.
About the nav screen....it is rare to find one with the screen and the column shift. But on other trims like the sport with the front buckets alot of them have nav!
IMO that head unit is junk. Interference when using the auxiliary port. GMs solution was a ground loop isolator instead of making a quality head unit to begin with. GM headunits generally suck in my experience. I'm not too fond of the one in my 2019 Equinox either. I did like the one in my 07 Colorado with 6 disc changer integrated in the head unit. Swapped it out for my old school Pioneer though for nostalgia after I refurbished it.
Also the nav is mainly useless at this point in time. Not even sure if you can get update DVDs for it anymore. If you can I'm sure GM still wants a stupid price for them.
Fuel cuts off at 120. I've had it cut out at 119, 120, and 121. I removed the limiter but haven't topped it out since. Just went above 120 to make sure it was disabled. Had my Bonneville up to 137. That was rather sketch with suspension that is shot. In Mexico of course.
Gday I am arriving in Orlando and staying in the U.S for 3 months and I am looking at buying a car for around $5000 max I could buy a pick up , a toyota yawn ! but the Cadillac DTS keeps catching my eye but that Northstar engine plus front wheel drive concerns me. But a big thanks about letting me know that Gen 3 Northstar has finally been seen to :) I want a car to tour the U.S and be comfortable in,not bounce around in like a pick up or be bored to death in a Toyota . I'm currently in France on tour from Australia and I bought a Jaguar XF 2009 3.0 diesel for $5000 U.S, so far no issues at all. I wanted something that was comfortable to tour France in and it has met that criteria. So it's the USA in two weeks so it looks like I'm buying a Caddy DTS 🤣🤣🤣 (It's better to buy a car than rent because I will get something back when I sell before I head on back to Australia)
Keep that antifreeze clean, cause that's the biggest problem on them northstar engines, they will blow head gaskets, and only use DeX cool antifreeze .
I like them Lincoln town cars especially the cartra top of the Lincoln think the cadillac rides smooth the Lincoln rides like a cloud great cadillac though
Hopefully the previous owner kept up on the fluid changes as it has 100k mi on it. I've had mine for 8 years and the only major repair I've had was the fuel pump, otherwise it's been just a few minor things like a power steering line and my radio went out. It's recommended you have coolant flushes done every 4-5 years at the GM dealer because this car can't use anything but DexCool. Green coolant or universal causes problems with this engine. Transaxle service should be done every 50k mi at the GM dealer. 10:1 compression means High Octane gas is recommended, Full Synthetic oil is required. The dash screen was standard on Platinum, optional on the lesser trims. The dash screen with bench seat is rare which is what you have.
You are 100 percent right on bmw. Very very expensive to maintain. On the Cadillac DTS, Head gaskets. Put 2 motors in my wife's 2011 DTS. American car manufacturers still don't get it.
That touchscreen is dumb. Get aftermarket so you can get CarPlay plus streaming Bluetooth. I’m looking at buying a dts and will rip out the screen if it comes with it
My only regret is that I didn't buy one of these sooner! It's been a GREAT car! Now it's rocking as a daily down in the Texas heat and doing just fine :)
Unless you have driven the preceding Deville models you can't truly appreciate this car. Having driven Devilles exclusively for the last 2+ decades I consider the DTS to be a sport model. The handling and cornering are much better and the acceleration feels almost race car level.
Are you saying that this car is much better than the 2000-2005 Devilles? I currently own a 2000 DHS and I’ve always thought this new interior in the DTS looks like what you’d find in a Buick.
@@Samuelfish2k That is the only generation I've not owned. 2 years ago I went from a 1996 deville straight to a 2008 dts. Interior is adequate but driving/handling is better.

I would work 3 jobs to get in a nice, classic one of those,... is convertible coupe deville a thing? Im still learning , and I'll be 35 in March.. Thanks for reading. It's kinda a moment for me, gang. nuthin but love from H,TX
The undercover brother pic is hilarious cuz I completely understand! Lmfao
I Have a 2007 Cadillac DTS and man it is very fast with the north star V8 take care your car and it will take care of you love it.
We had a Cadillac STS years ago, northstar engine, no trouble. Would own again one day.
I’ve got a 2005 SRX with Northstar 4.6 VVT. I ADORE IT! 2005 is when the head gasket issue got fixed and these things are good to go.
I own a 10 and I'm very very happy
With it n9 repair issue
Thanks Cadillac
I used to own a 2009 DTS with the front bench and the factory navigation system. Pearl white with the cashmere leather interior, I loved that car but it got stolen a few weeks back and I’m just left with my 2011 Escalade right now. I miss it.
I can't give a "like" on that comment. Oh no, I am SO sorry! Very sad! I hope your insurance company is helping you out!
Got my 06 DTS muffler and resonator delete and it never fails to turn heads
Love this car. I just sold mine and realized I can't do without it. Consequently I'm looking to replace it with a newer low mileage one like a 2010 or 11. Looks like you found a good one.
They really are cheap .Nice ride.
I own an 08 performance pkg with 75k in white diamond. Bought it for $1000 for the same reasons. They are definitely available for great prices🤑
@@cadillacandy3582 u got real lucky bro. I’m currently in the market for one as my first car, can’t find one for less than 6000
i am one of those people lol i would love to own one but i am scared of the maintanence. i own a '12 eskie
I worked at PoleTown plant in Detroit and built many of those DTS....
Now you are definitely somebody I'd love to talk to over a beer!
I've had two of them Cadillac DeVilles 2005 and they're excellent cars
New subscriber here!! I love your review and that is the last of the big luxo bars, I love it! Hope to see more videos soon!
Reliability is pretty good on this year.
Have fun with it!
Great video I owned a buick road master miss it
I always tell my son,
"Every Cadillac will break your heart."
Why
Dude, nice video! I have an 07 with 110k miles and looks brand new and rides better than a 2007 Mercedes S550!
Or you could just find one from California or Nevada. Those are great cars to find if you’re looking for something rust free
I had a black one back in the day. Low miles, it was a great car...with low miles. Now I will only ever drive towncars
I have three 2005 five ......best ride ever!
Im 55 years old i remember the okder cafillacs from the 70s and 80s , they was the best realible cars , i never even think about buying a 2007 20010 cadillac dts , then one day i was passsing by a nieghborhood, i see a 2007 cadillac 3 way black ! Icant lie the car looked amazing lol so i knocked on thr door ask if its for sale he said yes i bought it and love it , they are great running cars they do break and its exspesive to repair but hey iys a cadillac lol
I got a 2012 srx I’m loving it
I had a 89 and 99 Deville, they had what was called a governor which prevented the car from traveling over 85mph. Another great car was the Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite from 1991, it was known as a Cadillac without the high price tag, same parts.
I drive a 2003 Deville, it has 170,000 miles on it . I really like it.
Just bought my first Cadillac..an 08 DTS. Little old lady owned, only 17,600 miles on the odometer. My great grandfather owned one before he passed. I couldn’t believe the miles and picked it up immediately.
That's wonderful! So far so good? Happy with your purchase?
How did it treat you?
Fabulous video I'm buying a 06 dts black real nice I'll have it Saturday I love big cars I also have rims raptor 19 inch rims tires been sitting in garage new for years just so happens they will fit 5.115 so lucky so wipe the dust from them get them ready I'm going to chrome out this car all stainless
Just got one with 100k km for my first car and it’s awesome so far you feel like a pimp.
Hey so I'm looking at a 2010 dts pearl white Cadillac chromed out rims around the mirrors etc . All black interior with the caddy emblems sewed into the seats. Wood grain wheel dash an doors. Mint condition outside an in. No rips dents scrapes. .I love that she's a 2000 area an she has that classic look. But ppl who claim to no cars tell u forget it if it's a north star. But she's so gorgeous an everything I want. She has a sun roof heated cooled seats. Has the screen in the dash. It's the. Platinum version I think. 97k on the dash he's asking a lot at the used dealer. But I love that it has the elder school caddy look inside an out
love the looks of the 06 and up dts
I have almost that exact same car great car. My dad bought it in 2008 when he was 88 he passed away the next year so it’s the last of the eights I’m keeping it I only got 89,000 miles on it so far it runs like a top. The only bad part is when the front lightbulbs go out it’s a big job to change the bulbs
Good to note. I may have to change the covers on both, not sure yet. That annoying yellowing thing. I'm going to try a couple tricks I've had semi-success with in the past on other cars I own first. Fingers crossed!
@@spiriteddrivesunreliablecars if you do that have the camera running
Hi I just started watching your videos like your videos I bought a Cadillac DTS new in 2008 I still have it now the car has 34 thousand miles on it I don’t drive it much but it’s been a great car
You think the 08 DTS is a Euro-killer, test drive an 01 Eldo with the same 4.6. Romp on the throttle at 80mph and see how fast the speedo maxes out.
The ones with the floor shifter supposedly are the performance package. So you should be proud to have it😎
An owner of a new to me 01 for a week and 1 day 😢- these bad reviews and soul crushing
I have one with the nightshade in the back
I love my mint condition 07 DTS on Vogues with only 55k miles. Garage kept and it does not see rain or snow. I have it on top of a 3 inch rubber mat that covers the length of the car to separate it from the concrete….I call it Pharaoh’s Chariot💪🙂
I've had a a Cadillac since 78/02/06/10
Thanks for info i almost catty cts but was nerve. Got 2011 lexus 60k mile. Hope everything goes well with it.
Pretty much 100% as far as the head gaskets after 2005
Rear seats are only heated not cooled
I love it!
I'll be watching for the sale ad when you go back :)
Keep that antifreeze clean, cause that's the biggest problem on them northstar engines, they will blow head gaskets, and only use DeX cool antifreeze .
Purchased my 06 DTS 1SE from
I like them Lincoln town cars especially the cartra top of the Lincoln think the cadillac rides smooth the Lincoln rides like a cloud great cadillac though
I have the 08 platinum performance edition 😎
i think thats the antenna you heard in the back sir i could be wrong. bough a 08 dts with 16k miles love it.
This car doesn't have a power or full antenna. Just the small satellite stub antenna on the roof.
@@spiriteddrivesunreliablecars I hear the same noise in my car it seems to me that’s the sound
Correction I stood outside the car and the noise came from the area of the back right exhaust tips who knows what it is 😆
Fuel pump.
@@youheardmeright7294 thanks!!!
You are 100 percent right on bmw. Very very expensive to maintain. On the Cadillac DTS, Head gaskets. Put 2 motors in my wife's 2011 DTS. American car manufacturers still don't get it.
Did u gave to replace 2 engine s??
I have the 07 dts I love it and also had the 04 century it was a beautiful car for my 2nd car
My brother has a 2007 DTS. Hopefully you don't have to do the headlights. $2k. It's a beautiful car but it can get pricey.
I paid 300 for a crappy one from the junkyard after hitting a deer.
Nice cadilac
I made that growl better by removing my mufflers and replacing the resonator with a magnaflow magnapack, the sound is unique.
Where are you guys located at
Currently in Texas but we move about the western side of the US :)
That touchscreen is dumb. Get aftermarket so you can get CarPlay plus streaming Bluetooth. I’m looking at buying a dts and will rip out the screen if it comes with it
Do you have any regrets? I am looking to buy one
My only regret is that I didn't buy one of these sooner! It's been a GREAT car! Now it's rocking as a daily down in the Texas heat and doing just fine :)
@@spiriteddrivesunreliablecars how many miles do you have
@@thomasdill88 A little over 110k right now :)
Nothing pleased more

thanks for the video. very helpful.
Thank you for watching!
Cadillac And Lincoln’s Are Much Better Than European Cars. Lexus IS A Close Second. Experience. 💛
