  • WR Christian Kirk is a valuable member of the Jacksonville Jaguars WR corps. Lost in all the talk is how his injury changed the trajectory of the Jacksonville Jaguars season. He is WR1, if there is such a thing for this organization. Why is it not recognized? Is he good enough to be that? These are legitimate questions that we have the answer to on this episode.

    Trevor has literally said he would take a Brady type deal if they get him WR and Oline help. Trade next year's #1 pick to Cincy for Tee Higgins ND send them Zay Jones to free up space. Use pick 17 to trade back to 20-22 to draft Mims from Georgia so you have a monster to lock down that tackle spot. Move Antwan over to left guard for a season to help cam and have Ezra and Brandon alternate to stay fresh. Mitch is at center. Leave Walker to help out at tackle when someone needs a breather. Then draft Max Melton or top CB available in the 2nd rd and grab a top edge or maybe a Dewaybe Carter at 96 and watch the difference it would make. But that's just my opinion. I played Wr in college and safety in high-school so I'm no guru. Just want to see our team firing on all cylinders. Go Jags!!!!

    Christian Kirk is our #1 WR, strictly out of necessity, because of a distinct lack of talent in front and behind him. Don't get me wrong. Kirk is one of the best #2 slot receivers in the league, but there is no excuse for us not to have that big, "go to" receiver in front of him that can be a true #1 option for Trevor. Gabe Davis is not a #2. He was brought in to replace Zay Jones as the #3 WR, but when Baalke messed up and Calvin Ridley left during free agency, we had to keep Jones. Davis went several games in Buffalo where he never even got looks and that was with a top 5 QB throwing to him. There's no way he's going to miraculously get better here, with a QB who is still good, but not to the level of what Allen is. Now, we are left with a #2 WR and a pair of #3's. We currently have the worst WR room in the division. Houston is now 3 deep at WR with the addition of Diggs. Tennessee is 2 deep with Ridley and Hopkins and Indianapolis is even better with Pittman and an emerging WR in Josh Downs. I don't care how much better our O-Line plays, that won't effect the passing game much when the talent level of the WR position is sub-par. Unless we do something drastic by injecting elite level talent at the WR position by trade or trading up in the draft, I don't see this offense leading the team to anything better than a third place finish in the division. No. Having Kirk at #1 is NOT enough. Not even close.

    • @carlrickerson5360
      @carlrickerson5360 Месяц назад

      I think you are wrong on with this post. Gabe Davis can be a number 2 he went games without being targeted because Josh Allen was so focused on getting the ball to Diggs just like the trap we fell into when we tried to force Ridley the ball. We didn't start our win streak until we started giving the ball to Kirk and Engram spreading the ball around. Davis will be used much different and will have more opportunities because this is offense that wants to spread the ball to different receivers not just focus on 1 receiver. Also we don't know what level Trevor can get to and Davis is a weapon that Trevor has yet to have a legitimate deep threat big body receiver. Davis can be very effective if given the opportunity people were saying the same thing that you are saying about Kirk. Then he came he and balled out. You can predict what these guys can do in different offenses. I think Gabe will be a huge addition and add an element this team has not had. I also think they will draft a WR with that player being groomed to be the true #1. How is the Colts better with 2 receivers that was there last year when we swept them. You are underrating the Davis addition and how impactful Kirk and Engram is to this offense. You are looking at player names and not how schemes and gameplans impact how well players perform in offenses. I think you are really underestimating this offense and the fact that they have mostly been playing together now going on 3 years. Ask Mahomes do you need a whole bunch of big name receivers or is it more important to have guys that know how to play together and where to be on the field!!! Jaguars are fine but I do think they will add to receiver.

    • @jayshupp5971
      @jayshupp5971 Месяц назад

      @@carlrickerson5360 The Bills tried to make Gabe Davis a #2 and he failed. He had 7 games last season where he was only targeted 3 times or less and he was working with a top 5 QB. Allen was not forcing the ball to Diggs. If you watched any Bills games, you'd know Allen spread the ball around to the TE's a lot last season. Gabe is a #3 WR at best. He is a poor route runner with suspect hands who fails to create space and get open. Just ask a Bills fan. I have talked to several and they all said the same thing. They said losing him was no loss at all. Unless we trade up, it's VERY unlikely we find a #1 WR in the draft and I don't see us being able to trade up. You keep mentioning Engram, but he is NOT a WR. He is a TE. If you include the TE's in the AFC South, we still have the worst receivers in the division, because we lack talent at WR, specifically. I'm tired of being barely above .500 at best. I wanna take big steps forward like other teams and we can't do that unless we add truly talented players at skill positions. You can't keep expecting Trevor to improve when you downgrade his weapons and losing Calvin Ridley and replacing him with Gabe Davis is a HUGE downgrade. You can't just say, Pat Mahomes doesn't need a #1 WR. Guess what? Mahomes may be the best QB to ever play the game. He's not Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence is good, but he's the kind of QB who needs help. Mahomes can do it on his own. He's special. You cannot compare the two. I truly hope we do trade up and get a young #1 WR like Harrison Jr., Odunze, Nabers or even Thomas Jr., but I don't see that happening. Anything outside of those 4 guys, I don't consider a lock to be a #1 WR. Maybe Xavier Leggette or Javon Baker CAN be a #1 WR in time, but that is a longshot. Like Tony said, there may be 15 or so draftable WR's in this year, but that doesn't mean they fit what you need them to be. The top 4 guys are what we need them to be. Maybe Leggette or Baker can be who we need them to be, but as I said, they are longshots and we can't just assume they will be a hit. Every other WR in the draft would be more of a replacement for a guy we already have. We're not looking to replace Kirk just yet. We need a receiver with size, speed and the ability to get open to compliment Kirk.

      What u say doesn’t really add up tho.
      Gabe lost targets ok. But the Bills #1 WR in Diggs only put up 1100 yards on 100+ catches.
      U use the pieces u have the best way u can. Diggs does a little what Davis does but he’s a more consistent threat underneath. So he got the most targets. Sounds like Kirk to me. Zay was good when he was a legit downfield/redzone threat.
      Ridley was never that. His numbers woulda been a lot better if he was because the jags gave him every opportunity. He was good as a number 2 for the Falcons. He was a good number 2 for us. WE expected number 1. That’s why we didn’t pay him. Kirk already brings us a lot of what he did.
      I think Gabe could go off if Zay stays healthy. That’s 2 legit downfield threats with two legit underneath threats in Kirk and Engram plus ETN in the pass game.
      I’d still take a receiver in those top 3 picks tho. Neither one has been THAT dependable.
