I had an identical one when I was a kid, must've greased it 50 times - I was more interested in disassembling and reassembling the reel than catching fish with it.
Excellent video. 😊 Very good breakdown. 🌻 I loved the simple mechanics of that reel. 😛 Thanks for showing your art of restoration. ⚘️ Best regards from DK and Argentina ! 🙋♂️ JH 🇩🇰 JOSS 🇦🇷
I know right. Don’t know what I was thinking.i didn’t have a lot of tools and supplies at the time and didn’t want to infest into it. I have since changed it. Hopefully you subscribed I will be releasing a lot of cool vids soon.
Why did you reuse that ancient grease? I can see maybe using super-thick grease on the gears to make the reel feel smoother, but the cross-wind system? Reel came out nice! Good video.
it's ironic how simplistic these reels were yet they were used to pull in some of the best fish on the planet. But now it seems you need an engineering degree fix these new models.
Grammar, spelling, and punctuation that bad within an insulting comment leaves a negative impression of the worth of your opinion. While you don't value this type of reel enough to do a restoration on one, the same clearly can't be said of other people. Rather than trashing other people's values outright, maybe you should seek to fully understand before rendering an opinion. I find such discussion to often be enlightening and productive. YMMV because, you know... value is subjective. With that in mind, please clarify a few things for me: 1) What factors lead you to conclude the reel is a piece of junk? 2) How much did the reel cost when new? What years was the reel in production? 3) What is the market value of these reels now? 4) How much money in parts, paint, consumables, and wear on tools do you estimate was put into restoring this reel? 5) What is your spare time worth to you, in dollars per hour? 6) How many hours do you think were required to restore this reel? 7) What kind of reel, if any, would you personally consider worthy of the time, effort, and expense put into restoring the reel in this video?

Your video was excellent and your passion to resurrect a piece of angling history is laudable. Well done!
Thank you very much!
Gotta love a good fishing reel restoration 👍👍

Very nice restoration... Beautiful..i enjoy restoring old reels
Thank you very much!
Can’t fish much any more these days, but I love a fishing themed restoration. You did a great job with that reel mate. Thoroughly enjoyed your video.
Thanks mate 😊 had trouble at the end I got the flu 😷 and was struggling with the end filming. 👍
Beautiul result! Thanks for sharing your video.
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice work. I wish I had the patience to do that with an old reel I have.
El diseño es del siglo XXII, es reduccionista y funcional. Yo lo pintaría de naranja tostado perlado. Para que los peces mueran de envidia.

I definitely enjoyed taking it apart 👍😊

@@steverudkins8137 glad I could bring back some memories😊👍
Man, now you have to test it on the bank! 🎣
That's the plan!👍
Excellent job, but I'm curious why you reused the old grease?

Reel came out nice! Good video.
I have changed it since you sent this message I was wondering why it didn’t move smoothly 😊👍👍
great choice of colours, but i do not think that that paint will last as long as original. only if reel will be only for display purpouse. good work!
Yeah I Should of used hammerite that’s what they originally painted it with. 👍 thanks for the comment 😊👍
Good effort in restoring but when you tried to spin it yikes 😬🤣🤣
Yeah real tough.😉I use the wrong grease inside.much better since I changed it learning as I go. Thanks for the comment 👍👍
