She's right that Hollywood didn't respect her tremendous abilities as a serious actress. Even films that were fairly shoddy and lightweight and required her in some scenes to "show skin" demonstrate her superb acting skills. By the way, nothing wrong with her voice.
She was very good in Wings.
@@stevenroland7472 agreed.
@@stevenroland7472 “Kid Boots” was good, “It” and “Mantrap.” There is a fictional book as her as Character in it recently, “Winging It” by H.P. Oliver. Even though it’s a fictional story it’s surprising very good. Amazon as E-Book.
The studio rushed her into talkies and didn't help her confidence. She developed a bad habit of staring up at the microphone during scenes. One time she panicked and tried to attack it.
Well said and well put. Her voice was indeed fine for talkies. During the 20s Paramount worked her like a dog and paid her no where near what she was worth. Drove her to a nervous breakdown, poor lady. She seemed so sweet & genuine. I think that's the main reason the public & her co-workers loved her. Thank you for your insightful comment.
well, she ain't kidding, he is gorgeous.
He was no Rondo Hatton but Rex Bell was indeed one handsome fella !
She was always so beautiful and radiated positive energy and sweetness.
I heartily concur !
she was just too darn cute with that accent
I agree 100 per cent !
I had to listen for an accent. Is it NY?
@@davidthedeaf that’s a slight Brooklyn accent in this film, albeit toned down for the cameras. In the few other clips available, her accent is noticeable as well, but you have to listen for it. I still haven’t found a recording of her with a consistent Brooklyn accent, though she is said to have had a very distinctive one.
Omg Rex was gorgeous.
I agree 😍
Just read a book on Clara Bow. Thank you for this chip into her life.
Clara bow you are always number one forever 😘😍😘😍
She's so adorable!!! 🌺😍
You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe !
she had the most precious smile 🥺💕
I wish I could give her a hug!
I know the feeling !
Love her.
Awwww what an angel
Fascinating ! Thanks for sharing ! I've long been intrigued by the life & career of Clara Bow, one of true icons of the Silent Screen. She seems very happy in the footage. She's put on weight since her 20s heydey but was still a lovely lady. And what a handsome hubby. CHEERS !
Definitely a New York accent. Being born in the Bronx I got a kick out of that.
In her films she always seems modern ... as if the director could call 'cut' & she would start speaking with you ... timeless ...
My Angel ❤️
Cute as a button, no foolin!
Indubitably !
Clara Bow's bungalow is at 12214 Aneta St. Culver City, CA 90230
Wonder if it's still there !??
Why was it called a ' bungalow " was it on the lot of Paramount '0r a cute garden home?
Can we tour it ??
Why did she live ALONE from her husband?
Or was this like a 2nd home for her away from Nevada
Was Her husband Lt Governor of Nevada & Clara preferred Los Angeles!?
Does anyone know answers please let me know......🦋thanks ..I just loved her
Is her other son STILL living ?
Any kin folks grandchildren !?
Can we tour her bungalow?
🦋🦋
They are so cute🩷
Aw man, I was waiting to see the pilot that risks death just for thrills.
SHE ALWAYS SAID ABOUT HERSELF THAT SHE WAS :
"JUST A NICE GIRL".
BE WELL.

Of such great 😊 times they be!
Clara said 'I would like to be known as a serious actress and not as this It Girl'. Not 'Sit Girl'. Lol.
Betty boop
I will never get over her!
I wish i couldve met her here in England, I would build a time machine just to do so.
💞
💋
She lived a blessed life
Exactly ....she was DARLING .& MR Bell loved her so MUCH..they loved ea other & had happy times two precious little boys all u hear is the bad things why not anymore happy fun things !!??
Fickle Hollywood & that's being kind of coarse they paid her$$$$ but I don't think treated her nicely ..I would of loved to be her friend.....she was precious 😘🤗🖐️💓💓🇺🇸so sweet u can tell...& Rex adored her ..I'm soooo sorry to hear something of mental break down ...we women are delicate ..I'm sure her hubby did everything he could ...& I'm sure she loved him ALWAYS maybe lived alone last few yrs to not bother Him ..idk . sacrifices we women make when we Love 💕 😓😔💚🙏loved her movies too!!!
Im shock this footage isn't on British paThe
Be a Lady!
Brooklyn girl, just like Stanwyck and Susan Hayward. And like the other two she had a rough childhood.
Be interesting to see how Margot Robbie plays her
Former "It Girl"? When did she lose her title?
She'll always be the "It" girl!
@@fadingworld5569 yes, and I find it a bit sad the industry/media pushed her in to this kind of thinking, because she was wonderful just the way she was and should’ve been appreciated as such.
@@fadingworld5569 How right you are !
Media &/0r Hollywood makes me sick...how they make you FEEL!!!!!😠
Honestly, I am surprised that they did this interview at all, as she was a “has been” by this time.
No she wasn't. She had signed a lucrative 2-picture contract with Fox. The first picture, "Call Her Savage", had recently been released and was a huge success. As a reward, Fox sent her on this 2-month tour of Europe.
@@dueroden no, it was over. Paramount dropped her, and the audience moved on. None of her three remaining films did big BO. Time changed.
@@ShadowsOnTheScreen Incorrect. Both of Bow's pictures with Fox were successful. Paramount production head Ben Schulberg (who pressured Bow to seek a release of her contract with Paramount) was blamed for the deficits the studio now suffered and was fired.
No has been never forgotten
Fooey on him.
She could have easily been a major star in sound pictures but decided not to, primarily for the reason she gave. She always had it, but couldn't escape Hollywood's pigeonhole.
A sit girl?
She was probably loaded.
@@frankgarrett9500 I wouldn't have blamed her if she *was* loaded (after what she had gone through in her life).
She said as an IT girl. What she has been known for to this day as.
@@imafgt4916 Please don't ask me not to believe my own ears. She did not say "as an It girl."
@@akrenwinkle no. It girl.
She was a bit chubby in the face in this video.
yep probably her treatments (schizophrenia)
She was pregnant. That occasionally happens when couples marry.
@@keithhyttinen8275 Men like John, men who pick apart a woman feature by feature, rarely get the opportunity to discover what happens after marriage.
@@cocokai9661 Men like that rarely have a happy marriage to talk about.
@@Delnis30 Yeah, psychotropic drugs even today often have noticeable side effects. I imagine that the situation regarding that was even worse back then.
