And yet my rank slowly goes down over time (especially at season start) and then I'll eventually make it back to where I was, regardless of improvement... and I see people counter this argument saying "get better" or "you're just improving slower than the player base"... No. If a game doesn't reward you for improvement then the ranked system is broken. It's not like I'm slowly getting better over the years. I'm putting in time and getting better and nothing to show for it. This is how you kill a game and get your most dedicated players to quit.

I got hit so hard after the season 11 and 12 resets. I went from C1-C2 to low D1!!! D1 then was like the old C2 lobbies, so sweaty and hard but still a lower icon, which doesn't help the motivation. At least now it's not as bad as then but still it needs much more time for the ranked ladder to fix itself. On my main Im high C2 yet I struggle on my alt in D3 with my main tm8. Makes no sense anymore.
I feel like the rank resets are not helping? Maybe fixing some amount of “rank drift” but also gatekeeping players. I’m D3/C1 every season. I’m definitely not GC level but I feel like I should be C1/C2 now. My 1v1 rank sometimes is my highest rank…
lmfao yeah your rank is no longer inflating. Over 2022 the ranks got to insane levels since it season it just added mmr and we can still see the effects by looking at the rank distribution...
it's soo much better. all of leth's touches are so representative of the rank that he's in that you really get to see a high level of positioning and thought process, while squishy will just whip out a full field air-dribble but use no air roll and call it "simple"

Yeah same... Very hard-stuck diamond here, I can't decide if it's worse to play aggressively or defensively in Diamond for that exact reason. Defensive players are often deemed incapable by tm8s so they try to carry.

I finally got out of diamond and into champ by swallowing my own ego, letting my teammates do their thing, and always supporting them even if they make awful decisions, and being strong on defense.
Leth is actually crazy. Playing like a diamond, with diamond mechs is impressive. Plus he walks us through his mindset. Really psyonix should pay him to do video tutorial integration into the game

Honestly I just think the average RL grinder is getting better and better. I also feel like lots of people have second accounts they use to warm up before playing ranked on their main accounts?

I swear Champ 1/2 is even worse than diamond. Lobbies full of people with GC tags its crazy. Was able to hit Champ 3 last season but it was a struggle. Havent done my placements yet this season cause ive been playing dropshot but i feel like its going to happen to me too
oh wow, so maybe i shouldn't feel bad for being stuck d1 for a month now and I'm finally staying comfortably in d2 rn. I started playing mid december last year and before the season reset I was steadily making progress.
@@iceyzzz7476 Yeah its a cycle. Win 3 games against good opponents and you get stuck playing a smurf or two for a couple games and get dropped down again. Also if you solo queue you end up playing with someone that's boosted and should be in plat.
I have been in champ for like 2 years straight now. I have never deranked enough to touch diamond since then. All you need is play more than the average and you're eventually going to make it to champ. I even got champ 3 div 4, but I got back to champ 2 now, which seems to be my comfortable rank for now.
Me and my dad are mid champ 1 and as soon as we go up to div 4 we always play players who are a bit too good for the rank(imo) and then we drop loads it’s crazy how hard it is to rank up now
Solo q 2v2 is more often a 1v3 then 2v2 in ranked where if I go into casual 2v2 is actually a 2v2 so I just been chilling having fairly normal games in casual lol
Solo queue is a mess. I literally play ranked with a friend , we reached champ 2 together and he can't flip on the kickoff yet , doesn't wave dash , can't fast aerial, can't half flip , can't bounce dribble. Like his mechs are probably around G2 and he is still a better teammate then most random solo queue teammates.
The rankings so weird rn. I came up against an ssl smurf and he said I should be at least gc3. Currently gc1. Sadly with a broken graphics card tho so I doubt ill be climbing out of it any time soon.
As a champ 1 I agree. I am decently mechanical with being able to flip reset occasionally and can do double taps easy usually. The champs coming down to d3 are much better than all of us to the point where I had a tm8 who said he was from c3 and that d3 and c3 were the same besides c3 being faster and doing mechs easier.

I ve had quite a few games where we are losing, tm8 is flaming his own team, he rage quits and bot substitute comes in… and all of a sudden we start scoring goals lol. So many times I’m thinking “yeah, bot comes in, now we can start playing”
Im champ and I litterally have 0 mechs. I just hit the ball hard and purposely and STOP COMMITTING WHEN LAST BACK, all my teammates do this. Wait for your teammate to get back before you chall or let them chall for you. I litterally just get free goals off opponents misplays

Ive was champ 1-2 (close to 3 a couple times) from seasons 3-10, but since 11 or 12 ive beem pretty well stuck in D3 div 3-4. Solo queuing this rank specifically is like rolling the dice. You either get a solid teammate or you gotta pull gc mechanics to win lmao
I’m a champ currently stuck in d2, been running into peeps with champ season/tournament rewards since the season started (where I ended up in plat 3 after placements), what did they do to the placement ranks this season? While it seems to be slowly getting better, the skill of teammates and opponents has seemed like it’s been all over the place.
RTSSL is mostly helping me understand how to be more passive and allow my low level teammate to develop their skill a little more when we play together instead of me taking over as the higher level player.
I stopped playing for like 3 months, ( was champ ) just came back and been in diamond all week. It don’t feel super hard but definitely been facing alot of ppl with champ tournament winner titles.
"That was a bizarre lobby.." Welcome to D2-C1 area where the ranks are made up and the titles don't mean anything. I appreciate the good-faith smurfing going on with this series. Nothing is too flashy - not even the no-mechanic smart plays. It's all completely within the grasp of the players in that rank; it's just as if someone in that rank was constantly peaking that day in big brain moves. It's not like Flakes videos where he utilizes SSL-level timing and senses developed over tens of thousands of hours of play. Leth's play is just "Hey, you've done this before. Do it again right now in this scenario. The only practice you need is to think about it."
I was a GC3 back in season 3 and now im stuck in C3 loool, havent played for years though, are rhe ranks busted or have people got really got out of nowhere?
I literally said this a couple of days ago there'd been a shift in the ranks, champ is the new gc diamond is the new champ plat is the new diamond. And like 10 people just shit on me and said I was bad at the game and I don't know how to rotate when they know nothing about me or my skill level
I just stopped playing rank all together this season went back to playing casual where I'm playing with 1250 to 1300 MMR opponents go to ranked an everyone is 800 to 850 including me it's so broken I really hope they fix it one of my top 3 games
Same here. 900-1k in casual vs not even 500 in ranked. I know they are not comparable metrics but gap is bigger than it should be. I am low gold in ranked (peaked gold 3 a few weeks ago), and in casual I am consistently matched up with plats. Casual so much more enjoyable
No diamond is now what diamond should be. If champ is too full they have to get shoved down somewhere. The main reason rocket league has had a big rank issue with champ and low gc is because they arent utilizing the full spectrum they have created. Most of the player base sits between diamond 1 and champ 1. It should not be like this in the slightest. There are less people in silver and diamond than just champ 3. There is a long way to go but they really need to do a full reset of the system and hurt a lot of peoples egos. The lower ranks need to be utilized way more with the system otherwise you are always going to have this issue. The system is way too top heavy resulting in very blurred lines of what the ranks really are and who deserves to be where. A year and a half ago you could see a clear difference in people who deserved gc and as of last season there was little difference between people in low c2 all the way to mid gc1.
completely agree. i’m typically gc2 and currently stuck in c2 even when im carrying almost every game. the champ rank atm is boofed. so many ppl that should be higher than champ and so many ppl that shouldn’t be in champ are all in that rank. u get like gc level players and then get like d2-d3 level players. it’s fucked
Started the season placed c2 in 2s and lost 110 mmr in one day, ended up d3 the next day. Currently c1 in 2s and 3s. I lost so much mmr because my teammates would make stupid decisions making me awkward and pissed off the whole game, after fixing my mentality I started ranking up again. The main problem I see is people relying too much on mechs and not knowing when to use them, if you can't play the mental game properly then your mechs are practically useless.

Not only do Epic Games want to monetize items on a game that will never have the growth that Fortnite has because it's hard to master, they also want to take away the main insensitive for playing, which is ranking up. They're "Musking it"! 😂 Or something Elon those lines 🐦😂

Is Leth's playstyle here normal for diamond in the us? I'm so confused. I'm eu and playing late nights. This is the closest i've ever seen to my playstyle, decision making and (lack of) abilities, it's uncanny valley territory. yet I rarely encounter anyone playing like me. (also i'm high plat, or at least used to). what i'm used to from my lobbies is more mechanics, faster play, but less smart, more "see ball, touch ball" etc.
I've only ever played KBM on rocket league cause I've used a keyboard my whole life and it feels natural to me I like to think I'm descent at the game. I'm definitely better mechanically than I am with decision making, idk where you guys accept challenge requests so thought id comment it here. Maybe we could 1v1 while both of us are playing on KBM? Either or been watchin ya forever LOVE the content. Praying that rocket league starts to popoff soon again so you can get the viewership you so deserve.
Can someone tell me if In the new season, have they changed how close you have to be to a boost pad to pick it up? Myself, my teammate and people I’ve been against of got so close to a 100 pad and not picked it up, feels like the distance has changed or something? Anyone else feel this?

As a champ 1 I agree. I am decently mechanical with being able to flip reset occasionally and can do double taps easy usually. The champs coming down to d3 are much better than all of us to the point where I had a tm8 who said he was from c3 and that d3 and c3 were the same besides c3 being faster and doing mechs easier.

It's so annoying because if you are in a session in which you aren't playing at 100% then you will already not make it in high Champ. I ve had quite a few games where we are losing, tm8 is flaming his own team, he rage quits and bot substitute comes in… and all of a sudden we start scoring goals lol. So many times I’m thinking “yeah, bot comes in, now we can start playing”

Im champ and I litterally have 0 mechs. I just hit the ball hard and purposely and STOP COMMITTING WHEN LAST BACK, all my teammates do this. Wait for your teammate to get back before you chall or let them chall for you. I litterally just get free goals off opponents misplays

Tourney winner titles don't say much tbh. I've never hit GC but I have a gc tourney title because I won 1 gc tourney.
Leth please correct me if I'm wrong but in 2v2 if both players only goal is to give their mate a open net an be rotating out just incase that is the easiest way to win. around one demo/bump guy in net mate taps it home easy win no?
Ive was champ 1-2 (close to 3 a couple times) from seasons 3-10, but since 11 or 12 ive beem pretty well stuck in D3 div 3-4. Solo queuing this rank specifically is like rolling the dice. You either get a solid teammate or you gotta pull gc mechanics to win lmao

I keep getting bounced around between D3 and C1. The skill difference between those two divisions is surprisingly noticeable

I’m a champ currently stuck in d2, been running into peeps with champ season/tournament rewards since the season started (where I ended up in plat 3 after placements), what did they do to the placement ranks this season? While it seems to be slowly getting better, the skill of teammates and opponents has seemed like it’s been all over the place.
I wonder how many of these people realize he could go off and score at will if he tried
I try to slow down a play of the op more but I feel like I hardly get any touches when I do stop ball chasing and lose games more often
RTSSL is mostly helping me understand how to be more passive and allow my low level teammate to develop their skill a little more when we play together instead of me taking over as the higher level player.

I stopped playing for like 3 months, ( was champ ) just came back and been in diamond all week. It don’t feel super hard but definitely been facing alot of ppl with champ tournament winner titles.

I appreciate the good-faith smurfing going on with this series. Nothing is too flashy - not even the no-mechanic smart plays. It's all completely within the grasp of the players in that rank; it's just as if someone in that rank was constantly peaking that day in big brain moves. It's not like Flakes videos where he utilizes SSL-level timing and senses developed over tens of thousands of hours of play. Leth's play is just "Hey, you've done this before. Do it again right now in this scenario. The only practice you need is to think about it."
I was a GC3 back in season 3 and now im stuck in C3 loool, havent played for years though, are rhe ranks busted or have people got really got out of nowhere?
I literally said this a couple of days ago there'd been a shift in the ranks, champ is the new gc diamond is the new champ plat is the new diamond. And like 10 people just shit on me and said I was bad at the game and I don't know how to rotate when they know nothing about me or my skill level
I just stopped playing rank all together this season went back to playing casual where I'm playing with 1250 to 1300 MMR opponents go to ranked an everyone is 800 to 850 including me it's so broken I really hope they fix it one of my top 3 games
Same here. 900-1k in casual vs not even 500 in ranked. I know they are not comparable metrics but gap is bigger than it should be. I am low gold in ranked (peaked gold 3 a few weeks ago), and in casual I am consistently matched up with plats. Casual so much more enjoyable

From one game to the next it’s absolutely insane
No diamond is now what diamond should be. If champ is too full they have to get shoved down somewhere. The main reason rocket league has had a big rank issue with champ and low gc is because they arent utilizing the full spectrum they have created. Most of the player base sits between diamond 1 and champ 1. It should not be like this in the slightest. There are less people in silver and diamond than just champ 3. There is a long way to go but they really need to do a full reset of the system and hurt a lot of peoples egos. The lower ranks need to be utilized way more with the system otherwise you are always going to have this issue. The system is way too top heavy resulting in very blurred lines of what the ranks really are and who deserves to be where. A year and a half ago you could see a clear difference in people who deserved gc and as of last season there was little difference between people in low c2 all the way to mid gc1.
completely agree. i’m typically gc2 and currently stuck in c2 even when im carrying almost every game. the champ rank atm is boofed. so many ppl that should be higher than champ and so many ppl that shouldn’t be in champ are all in that rank. u get like gc level players and then get like d2-d3 level players. it’s fucked

Started the season placed c2 in 2s and lost 110 mmr in one day, ended up d3 the next day. Currently c1 in 2s and 3s. I lost so much mmr because my teammates would make stupid decisions making me awkward and pissed off the whole game, after fixing my mentality I started ranking up again. The main problem I see is people relying too much on mechs and not knowing when to use them, if you can't play the mental game properly then your mechs are practically useless.

Not only do Epic Games want to monetize items on a game that will never have the growth that Fortnite has because it's hard to master, they also want to take away the main insensitive for playing, which is ranking up. They're "Musking it"! 😂 Or something Elon those lines 🐦😂

hey leth, that username u saw on game 2 that was "user-##########" is actually given to epic games players whenever their name isnt appropriate for epic, so they just remove their old name and give them that name with a bunch of random letters/numbers
isnt it just because ppl are falling of and the ppl to stay tend to be the skilled ppl so it will move them down in rank to fill those emty spaces?

i somehow remain in the same rank have been playing for a couple of weeks. normally i feel like my rank slowly creeps up but it has been remaining around diamond 3 div 3/4

I'm so confused. I'm eu and playing late nights. This is the closest i've ever seen to my playstyle, decision making and (lack of) abilities, it's uncanny valley territory. yet I rarely encounter anyone playing like me.
(also i'm high plat, or at least used to).
what i'm used to from my lobbies is more mechanics, faster play, but less smart, more "see ball, touch ball" etc.
I've only ever played KBM on rocket league cause I've used a keyboard my whole life and it feels natural to me I like to think I'm descent at the game. I'm definitely better mechanically than I am with decision making, idk where you guys accept challenge requests so thought id comment it here. Maybe we could 1v1 while both of us are playing on KBM? Either or been watchin ya forever LOVE the content. Praying that rocket league starts to popoff soon again so you can get the viewership you so deserve.

Can someone tell me if In the new season, have they changed how close you have to be to a boost pad to pick it up? Myself, my teammate and people I’ve been against of got so close to a 100 pad and not picked it up, feels like the distance has changed or something? Anyone else feel this?

I was d2 in all season 13. I played my placement matches and got d1 and i can't rank up.... that's probably the reason.
