@@dr_redbanRL same, I went from play 3 div 4, (and when I play with friends who are high plat and low-mid diamond, I am still able to play pretty solid in this lobbies), but now I went to gold in both 3v3 and 2v2 because solo queing and the play ranks just being a mess. Even in gold I see people hitting a flipreset, or I see like 1 smurf with 1k points 3v1 all of us with his teammates having 60 and 80 points.

I just won my first champ tourney today! Very happy that despite the state of rank right now I still seem to be improving. Biggest take away so far this season is: play more 1s. Crazy how much better game sense and mechanics get after a 1s sesh. Cheers!
The lower ranks keep improving, and psyonix/ epic keeps adjusting the MMR system, keeping us at the same rank. Forcing you to grind more if you actually want to rank up.
I genuinely just kept rhyming with it and came up with Leth-a-queer (could be a dank photoshop somehow lol ). Don’t hate me! It was just too funny not to comment. Definitely don’t think Leth is a queer. He is my all time favorite RL content creator and by far the best Workshop creator love you Leth.
Love the idea of how you should only be (depending on possession) on the ball 1/4 the time in 2s and 1/6 the time in 3s, and it is a great way to view it when new to the game so that people rotate off when they should. The saying “on the ball” doesn’t really work as well while the other team has possession though. Shadow defending, tackling the ball (50/50), and otherwise applying defensive pressure, at least in my mind, is also “on the ball” as the first defender. But it’s such a fluid switch from defense to offense in this game, as well as between the different positions in rotation that it’s really hard to cover all at once. Love the series so far, looking forward to seeing my rank :)
As a high champ player that watched my plat two friend play yesterday... These lobbies were way better than the lobbies he was playing in. The entire time i watched him (around 2 hours) i saw one decent aerial touch, very few solid clears and 0 wall touches. Good episode as always though! Very excited to see you go through champ to see what kind of lobbies you get as well!
I started playing like 4 months ago I’m stuck plat 1 never been over plat 3. I play 1v1 and 2v2.. I can air dribble anytime and 1/10 shots I can flip reset off the ball, I rarely ever miss the ball. The people I play can sometimes hit flip resets multiple times a game. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong these lobbies he gets in are unbelievable bad for gold and plat. I’ve never been out of plat yet I can get in bad lobbies rarely and will have people say I’m Smurfing the lobbies have to be messed up
@@deryckbrendel8785 You keep that mentality you're gonna keep your rank that way. You can't air dribble ANY time. Flip reset attempts are going to leave you awkward unless you're consistent, and you don't need them at your rank... at all. You really don't even need them in champ lobbies. Who knows maybe you're a plat god and i'm wrong. I'm curious to see some of your gameplay.
@deryckbrendel8785 There is only one change you need to make if you are not lying about your good mechanics. In lower ranks, you need to always make sure that you never rely on your teammates to defend. If the ball ever goes behind you, you lose. It's as simple as that. You need to stop chasing the ball as much and only chase the balls that will lead to you scoring, making the opponents uncomfortable, and relieving pressure from your teammates. I guarantee the mistake you're making is you are relying on your teammates to save the ball too much. You aren't keeping enough pressure on the opponents which means your rotations are slow.
I’m champ 2 and I didn’t realize how bad it was until I look back at gc gameplay from a couple years ago. Like the games in champ 2 right now are better than gc games were only 2 years ago

Well yeah plat has gotten a whole lot better. A year ago I was comfortably in Diamond 2 in 2s and Plat 3/Diamond 1 in 3s. Don't know what season it was but at one point I just suddently fell down to Plat 3, and Plat 1 respectively. Got the feeling they readjusted the ranking system. At this point it's a struggle to peak long enough to even reach Diamond rewards. I have not gotten worse. (Though admittedly I haven't got much better either)
I just started playing again after not playing for a few years and the constant AFK'ing in matches is like... it's crazy. I don't remember it being so consistently bad before. I was in a tournament with a random today and I swear to god he kept going AFK multiple times every single round, and we made it to the finals and got 2nd place. He was a better shooter than me by a long shot, but I couldn't count on him to be there. ever. because he'd just go AFK randomly for no reason, with no warning. It felt like I was 1v2 the whole tourney, with a guy who'd come in and get a goal sometimes. So frustrating. I'm not good or consistent by any means. I'm stuck in gold but I have fun trying. It's just so annoying when you're trying to play the game and they just disappear. repeatedly.
yo i think a cool idea would be like a road to video but for a viewer where you get someone who is in plat/gold and you coach them to champ/high diamond. so it'll almost be like how you would do in replay review but your goal is to get the hard stuck player to 2 ranks above their peak

I feel like you may mess up your teammates by being so inactive when you have possession, they are probably trying to play fast especially in advantageous fastbreak scenarios, but you slow down the pacing and they crash too soon/have to rotate out
Plat II is my 2s rank. The range of ability is HUGE, some people have positioning down, and some can ceiling shot and many are just like terriers and always behind the ball, it's wild. @lethamyr can you talk about what you do when you're breaking away with the ball with 1 guy to beat. Because hitting it right at him or putting the ball in the corner, which seem to be the only 2 things I'm capable of, aren't really working for me. Thanks
I havnt played for about two years until a month or two ago and i went from c1 to c3 two divisions off of gc. I feel like people are way faster to the ball and give you way less space. People also have way better mechanics now and i still have average mechanics. I would say it is slightly more difficult to rank up bc of that. I dont feel i deserve c3 bc i think everyone i play with is way better but im happy to be there lol

D3/C1 player here. If a team is imbalanced I’m happy to trade off 1v1/2v2 between kickoffs or even the teams by playing for the opponents. I’ve had tm8s get SO mad that I don’t just wanna wreck someone for a free W. But at the end of the day this is just a game so if you don’t wanna have fun playing a competitive match, what are you even doing? Unbalanced wins mean nothing

You should look how plats play in 1s nowadays. I'm getting flip reset on every 4-5 games and curiously most of my opponents run default car default goal explosion...
I’m mid-high diamond currently and I see a SHIT TON of champs and even GCs in comp. I feel like everyone got bumped down from their usual rank recently but idk when
I know it probably feels unfair to win a 2v3, but remember nothing could be more unfair than unnecessarily staying longer in a rank you don’t belong in. I don’t think you need to feel bad for “sniffing” because it’s legitimately for educational purposes but you are still effecting the balance of the games. All that to say don’t allow yourself to lose for “fairness” because it will only increase the amount of time you are there. Keep up the great content here and on the second channel. I’m looking forward to more phantom abyss with the 1.0 release. :)

Idea for upgrading/adding something to the road. You were saying that this series probably isn't for new players (or not so much as first edition) because more skilled players are watching right now. So maybe (at least) try to educate players/randoms that you are playing with? Lets say give them 1-2 max advices during the game (in team chat?) like no running after the ball all the time, no stealing ball from team mates etc, some basic stuff (depending on the rank). And just see whats gonna happen. Are they say thanks and try to apply that or say duck you and dont give a duck about that... but it will be up to them :). But it is just my opinion that it would be something new/fresh for the series. Side question: what controller are you using and why? What are yours top 3 best and worst controllers and why? Cheers

Once getting into Diamond, it was smooth sailing to my Champ 2/3 where I Will sit for every season Lol

I would say start cutting the ball to the side and either try starting a bounce dribble, or just swing wide and go for a hook shot

21:31 I agree that champ is the graveyard of gcs, a few of my buddies who used to be gc are stuck in C2-C3. But the ssls being all over gc I can't really see considering I have peaked higher than I ever have this season. Just my thoughts.

D3/C1 player here. If a team is imbalanced I’m happy to trade off 1v1/2v2 between kickoffs or even the teams by playing for the opponents. I’ve had tm8s get SO mad that I don’t just wanna wreck someone for a free W. But at the end of the day this is just a game so if you don’t wanna have fun playing a competitive match, what are you even doing? Unbalanced wins mean nothing

I big question I have is how and/or why do you get SO MUCH mmr when even your teammates only get like 10 while you get almost 40. And it can't be when you get MVP cause even when you don't it still happens.

Those titles mean nothing. I got to the finals of an SSL tourney getting carried as a D2. You do realize the premise of him doing this series is to play LIKE and give advice to the people in the rank he's playing in. They weren't even playing too well.

You should look how plats play in 1s nowadays. I'm getting flip reset on every 4-5 games and curiously most of my opponents run default car default goal explosion...
Honestly watching GCs in 1s seems easier than plat. Plat is a sweaty mess and no one respects anything it's just challenge constantly and get lucky.

I know it probably feels unfair to win a 2v3, but remember nothing could be more unfair than unnecessarily staying longer in a rank you don’t belong in. I don’t think you need to feel bad for “sniffing” because it’s legitimately for educational purposes but you are still effecting the balance of the games. All that to say don’t allow yourself to lose for “fairness” because it will only increase the amount of time you are there. Keep up the great content here and on the second channel. I’m looking forward to more phantom abyss with the 1.0 release. :)

I'd argue that most people that play ranked actually care about getting better and trying to grind. The casual playlist is for the not caring about skill crowd. This is coming from a barely diamond.

Nah fr I started playing like 4 months ago I’m stuck plat 1 never been over plat 3. I play 1v1 and 2v2.. I can air dribble anytime and 1/10 shots I can flip reset off the ball, I rarely ever miss the ball. The people I play can sometimes hit flip resets multiple times a game. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong these lobbies he gets in are unbelievable bad for gold and plat.

Idea for upgrading/adding something to the road. You were saying that this series probably isn't for new players (or not so much as first edition) because more skilled players are watching right now. So maybe (at least) try to educate players/randoms that you are playing with? Lets say give them 1-2 max advices during the game (in team chat?) like no running after the ball all the time, no stealing ball from team mates etc, some basic stuff (depending on the rank). And just see whats gonna happen. Are they say thanks and try to apply that or say duck you and dont give a duck about that... but it will be up to them :). But it is just my opinion that it would be something new/fresh for the series.
Side question: what controller are you using and why? What are yours top 3 best and worst controllers and why?

It's crazy how many smurfs there are in Plat, getting through plat was the worst lol, I had people doing flip resets off the ceiling/ball, insane double taps, honestly I understand how people get stuck there.. Once getting into Diamond, it was smooth sailing to my Champ 2/3 where I Will sit for every season Lol
Getting out of d1 legit took me 1.5k+ hours, then I hit c2 same day I got out. d1 has more smurfs than actual diamonds...
