We got to have more of these with Ricky Morton. The man respects Ric Flair so much probably more than any wrestler I have seen. Ric Flair and Ricky Morton are very good at tellin old wrestling stories they can just grab your attention. These two guys are great.

It’s fun listening to legends like flair and Morton talking about other legends. I got to watch them in the prime of their careers. I watched both Harley and Andre in the twilight of their careers. One of my favorite videos on RUclips is a compilation of people who slammed Andre before Hulk did. Harley made it almost look easy.

Harley would say, "I called it (the moves/spots) in the ring like I always do." Flair tells the story of the big Japanese wrestler over in Japan who did something in the ring to Harley that Race didn't like during a match. Harley came back to the heel dressing room after his match and said to Flair (referring to that Japanese wrestler) "damn rookie, Ricky (talking to Flair) let's go." They both went over to the face dressing room and walked up to this large young Japanese wrestler and Harley smacked the crap out of him. Then Harley said "don't you ever do that again without checking with me first." Then he walked out with Flair and went back to the heel dressing room. Walked right by Giant Baba who was a seven foot wrestler sitting in there (smile) too. Baba might have been the booker that night.

  • @mattgtr1

In '78 or 9 at Eddie Graham Sport Center in Orlando Florida, I saw HR pick Andre straight up and slam him just like Rick said. Only thing was, after he did it, he slid out of the ring holding his back and stopped and shook his fist at Andre, still holding his back! And then they turned the lights on and that was the end of it. Always wondered if he really hurt himself that night or not!

That’s why the story is even better. Harley in the middle of a match knowing that was such a bad ass he told Andre what to do and knew he’d do it. Versus hogan who said he asked Andre and was worried forever and up until it happened didn’t truly know if Andre would do it. Huge difference in that alone. One guy tells him on the fly it’s happening another spends an entire day worrying if it’ll happen.

You are correct , I am a retired cop, a co-worker had to arrest Andre the exact reason I can’t remember . But here is the deal my partner could not arrest him without his permission . My co-worker asked him kindly to get in the car for a ride to jail. Andre was not handcuffed because they were not made for giants . According to my co-worker who was very afraid of the Giant, Andrew told him he would not hurt him. To connect with your story my co-worker would not have been able to arrest Andrew if Andrew did not give permission . This is a true story. To be honest I would have been afraid of the Giant despite being a former kickboxer and martial artist. He was one of the few wrestlers that I was afraid of, because I was an Athlete at one time I knew a few of the boys . I teased a few about whipping they Arse in a real fight, but be not mistaken Andrew , Black Jet Mulligan were guys I wound not dare fight. Unless I tip the scales in my favor I.e., a weapon . Lol
