    In a free state you decide certain rules of engagement; however, in other, more blue states, his response in that last scenario was spot on as we cannot use deadly force if we aren't in immediate fear for our safety. Wish it weren't so, but explaining certain things to the courts in such states is an exercise in masochism. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, but no need to tempt fate if one doesn't need to.

    So coming from the medical field there is two things I want to point out. First: in the first ex, the bat holder actually touched the soldier on the hand. Since no injuries are able to be sustained in this, its a freebie. But I wanted to point it out. Also, the hand would be injured if not sustaining broken bones.
    Second: the raised arm guard that was suggested. Not a bad idea, but again, if the bat came down BEFORE the defender could fire, that arm is going to shatter. And it only takes another second for a following swing. Swing down, shatter the arm, then a quick swing into the temple. Done.
    To people who are going to dislike me over this.... It is just from the medical point of view.
    Now personally: I love watching these. Reminds me of my good days. So to the guys producing these: keep it up.

    That .38 S&W Bodyguard revolver is a snappy SOB. Bought it for the wife last year and it pounds the hell out of your radial nerve. Even tried using different grips with no difference. Ended up selling it and getting a heavier .357mag with more comfortable grip that made shooting the .38spl rounds much more pleasant.

    • @GunTalkTV

      Yep. Small revolvers can be good tool but it's not for everyone. Many less experienced shooters are more comfortable with a full size semi auto 9mm.

  • @SuperOpinion8ed

    Glad to hear the first analysis. When he went outside (which is what a lot of people would do), I was thinking the right thing is to fortify inside. Lock the front door, lock the back door, clear the house. Where'd the other guy come from? How'd he get in? Fortify. Call 911. Defend. Going outside was bad for a dozen reasons. I've seen a lot of these FPDs where the student always walks up on the threat like when a fight is happening near her car. I never heard Cerino or others tell her "why did you keep going to your car?" "why didn't you just walk away and avoid the confrontation?" Like abstinence is to pregnancy, avoidance can be the best defense.

    I hope that you and everyone else makes sure that no clear threat gets within 2 feet before firing. In fact, if someone is within around 20 feet, it means they can hit/stab/get on top of you in a blink. In the last scenario, the homeowner seems consider that line to be around 2 feet. I hope that if I were in the same position, I could could make 20 feet the breaking point.

    I do enjoy these videos. Obviously you can’t practice every scenario, as it’s infinite in scope. This channel focuses on some different general situations. It’s great to think about, prepare and build a foundation on. Having some really good general situational practice will be something to use even if the situation is slightly different. It’s something we can adjust on the fly having already some experience to something similar. I have made some major adjusts to being prepared and having my home plan. I believe this channel will continue to grow. They have some really good content that makes you think. It also gives us some things to train on. Thanks!

So I dont have to worry about someone sneaking around the back. I always make sure my guns are loaded. My rifles I have to remove the safety then I can shoot my 12g is always ready no safety and always loaded with wax slugs I made. As a european these case scenarios are funny to me, we avoided this decades ago by simply creating houses with one door, or if the house is a Chalet like in these case, they have a tall wall all around and again 1 door, and these doors have a glass sight to see who is in the other side without even opening, plus no guns around.
    But i guess in the US these are interesting case scenarios to know.

    My question is, who's carrying a gun on them 24/7... I understand going out, or I understand having it in a spot in your house for it to be safe....But not carrying it on you going from watching TV to answering the door. Then the risk of leaving it somewhere can allow it to be stolen by an intruder and even used against you.

    This exercise all though great. Nothing can really prepare you for the real thing. Notice how he doesn't even draw on a random guy in "your" house. Think about it Armed or empty handed if someones in your house closing the distance... shit even just chilling on your couch, you're almost instantly going to pull your gun and or shoot them if they are walking up on you. I mean I'd mag dump them. Great exercise still.

    "Cocked & Locked" is fine for the 88% or so that are right-handed...but there are STILL very few handguns that are "ambi" or 'reversible'. A reversible mag release is a start, but flip-lever 'thumb-safeties' -- and one-sided slide locks as well -- can literally be DEADLY for lefties!
    Even from a tactical perspective, I Really WISH more firearms were "Ambi" ... because we should ALL be able to shoot from either hand -- whether our 'strong hand' is engaged with an assailant or gets injured, or in order to take best advantage of available cover without having to expose our entire head and upper body to lean out to the left of cover to shoot with the right hand...

    • @immikeurnot
      @immikeurnot 6 лет назад

      So learn to shoot right-handed. I've mastered my AR left-handed, despite being a righty and having absolutely zero ambi crap on my rifle.

    • @BucketWheat
      @BucketWheat 6 лет назад

      Yes, there are several models that are 'ambi' or even LH configuration. But my point is really more of a "tactical" matter than it is about "Whining" (smile) about the plight of being left-handed. If you are in a physical encounter, and using your 'strong side' to keep them from choking you to death, or you are behind cover that is 'open' to your weak side and you want to present as little exposure as possible (rather than having to lean your entire upper torso and head out from cover to take a strong-side shot ) or even if your strong-side is injured and disabled!
      Sure, if you are Sport / Target shooting, then 'specialize' your firearm any way you want, and no need for dual-side levers or mag releases or any such things. BUT for a Street or Tactical situation -- and I would think for ALL Military weapons, so that any Soldier or Marine could take up any weapon and be 'ready to Go' -- you can NOT predict every situation you might find yourself in...and which hand you might have to shoot with!
      [Of course, I totally struggled with this as a Marine... I guess the USMC assumes that NO Marine should be Left-Handed! ] (-;

    here in arizona we have stand your ground AND catsle doctrine. meaning if my life or safety is threatened i am in no way and in no situation forced to retreat from a threat. if i know that not only was there a guy in my house that is now critically inujured or dead and another threat outside, i am 100% clearing my entire property and anyone elft on it will endure the same fate as the shitter inside.

    It really would suck in that position to have to kill someone just because they have a bat. True he could kill you or knock you unconscious and seriously harm you but it sucks that most of the time you can’t just slow down time and take carefully placed shots at his arms and legs to disarm him and ask him wtf he was thinking and deliver some whoop ass. I pray no one here including myself has to be forced in a situation to take someone else’s life that could or could not be avoided with different means for stupid reasons

      I keep an old police baton hanging by the door, but then again I usually home carry...if anything because between walking the dog and running errands I usually leave and come home several times during the day. It's easier to tool up in the morning and remain so until bed.

      I'm not most people, but you're right! I carry a gun 14 hours a day (own a gun store; don't strip down as soon as I get home; etc). But most people probably disarm and even unload when they get home. Most people don't have 15 guns all hidden around the house (neither do I). And this is why you also get a dog. My dog barks when someone enters the yard. Come in the house? The fight is on. At least, he's barking. At worst, he'll bite you. And if you take a swing at my dog with that bat, you're getting shot anyway. And then chopped up into kibble. No police. No 911. Just future dog poop. But seriously, a dog is a wonderful companion and can help with home security and situational awareness. Bad guy hiding in the house? My dog will know long before I do. My dog can hear me open the refrigerator when he's upstairs. He can smell a package of bacon being opened from outside. The nose knows. Get a dog.
