    This guy did a textbook job of receiving critique and tweaking his technique to fit the situation. He even went as far as to throw his weight against the wall to his right as to not hit the lady behind the assailant. Amazing work!

      Judging by the dialogue, that wasn’t the scenario at all. A man in the woman’s bathroom saying “how could you turn me down at the bar? This is gonna happen whether you like it or not!” And the woman screaming for help, is not a spousal argument. A normal, moral person, cannot stand by and listen to a woman get raped crying and screaming for help and do nothing except call the police, even if you’re unarmed.

    Not sure I agree with waiting to "go for your gun". As soon as you believe the situation is threatening to you or someone else, I feel you should have your hand on your gun and possibly drawn. If you don't need it, no harm done by having it ready. If you do need it and you have waited until the threat is drawing his weapon, you are now in a quick draw battle that you may very well lose. That being said, every situation will have it's nuances and require discrimination.

    • @depletedyourcranium
      @depletedyourcranium 6 лет назад +5

      Not just a threatening situation, but a deadly threat. Going to your gun is escalating force, it should be used only when a deadly threat rears its head. Also, don't forget, yourself can be perceived as a deadly threat. We don't have halos to signify were the good guys. You walk in on a situation you don't fully understand with a gun in your hand and someone else might feel you're about to hurt them. Keeping your gun concealed until you know you need it prevents someone mistaking you for an aggressor.

    • @canineconsigliere806
      @canineconsigliere806 6 лет назад +4

      I completely agree that the “good guy” can be perceived as a threat with gun in hand. This is why the nuances of every situation and the skills of discrimination you use are vitally important. In the situation in the video it is made to appear that the perpetrator is pinning the woman up against the wall in a threatening manner. Not in a manner that, let’s say, an officer would use to execute an arrest. Therefore a deadly threat OR a threat to do great bodily harm has already been presented. Attempting to stop the threat to the woman and drawing the attention of the threat to yourself without your weapon drawn and possibly in a low ready, I believe is simply giving the threat and advantage over your life. Again, the assessment of the situation is what is most important. Because, in full agreement with you, once you have INCORRECTLY assessed the situation and taken action you may not be able to correct your actions.

      @@caffeinefiend1217 So, you prefer the alternative? Because the Mythbusters tested that. Drawing second in a gunfight normally means you lose that gunfight. Remember that stopping the rape itself is actually escalating the conflict, from coercive to violent. You have to be willing to escalate... or just don't get involved at all.

    no witness on his side. in dysfunctional relationships the victim usually exonerate the perpetrator because of the dysfunctional aspect. hence he could have her the victim as the perpetrator's witness that the shooter interfere and murdered her spouse, boy friend or? Then its his word against her word that she was in immediate danger; the shooter could say yes and she say no. He needs a witness from the eatery: employe; customer, or ? This puts him in prison blues.

    A more realistic scenario in part 1 would've been for an unarmed perp to rush and try to take the weapon from you. If you shoot, then you have BIG trouble. You've possibly shot an unarmed man. Whatever the story after that point, you'd better lawyer up and pray to God.

      Not at all. As soon as screaming and threats of rape occur, that guy will surrender at gunpoint, or die. Really terrible advice, telling him to try and fast-draw an armed rapist. Do you want to get into a quick-draw duel, betting your own life?

    • @dcheard2
      @dcheard2 4 года назад

      If it's not aggravated.. then you can't pull your gun. They teach that in CCW class in Texas. Unless the perp has a deadly weapon.. it is unlawful to pull your gun. You can't escalate a situation if your life or another person's life is not in danger and in this scenario.. you don't know. As a concealed carrier.. you have to be 100% sure.
      You don't know what that guy is doing in that stall and you can't assume he has a deadly weapon.
      What happens if he pulled his gun out and this guy is unarmed? There will be witnesses and surveillance. Best case.. he gets a brandishing charge.. worst case charged with aggrevated assault and facing 20 years.

    In the second scenario should have stayed outside and not gone into the fatal funnel of the door way. Real life I would expect both guys to have holes in them. Use the entry way to conceal possible cover 80-90% of your body. Smaller target for him means maybe you do not start leaking.

    Home defense guns should not be suppressed. You want your neighbors to know you are in a gun fight.

    • @JohnW-yv6yp
      @JohnW-yv6yp 5 лет назад +1

      A suppressed gun is still really loud, it just won’t make your ears bleed. Unless your neighbors live a half mile away, they’ll hear it, especially shooting super sonic rounds.

  • @vanivanov9571
    @vanivanov9571 6 лет назад +1

    Err, not great advice here. He reacted perfectly reasonably the first time, only improvement was to be more careful with the door. He drew his gun just soon enough to win in a close quarters knife fight, and even then it was a close-call. If you hear screaming and threats of rape, don't hang around and call 911... not unless you're simply unwilling to intervene.
    If it were simply an argument, that's different. This was blatant coercive rape, threatening to become very violent, and you have every right to stick the guy up at gun point and order his surrender (shoot him between the eyes, if he resists). No, you do NOT have to get into a fast-draw contest with a serial rapist. If you feel that is necessary, don't get involved at all.
