Can you list steps to get to that? Theres not a single video on youtube. This is the closest we get on the xf

This is a pretty easy one:
      1. Jack up car at jack points, after unbolting the negative terminal on the battery in the trunk
      2. Locate starter (which will be near the passenger side underneath, in the open)
      3. There are two ways after removing all the easy bolts on the starter:
      a. You can use a half-moon wrench to reach the top bolt which is hidden behind the starter
      b. Unbolt the motor mount across from the top bolt and use extensions to reach it from the place that would have been restricted due to the motor mount being there. Some type of support will have to be placed on the engine to remove and install the mount.

Thanks bro, didn’t think you’d actually respond. Is there anything in the way if I go with option A? Or once I raised the car, I should see it somewhere on the passenger side?
& besides needing a half moon wrench, what size, and any other tools you suggest?

@@Greenlightgangs sorry I forgot, but it should be between 12mm to 14mm for that top bolt. You can use a mirror to see it up at the top. I believe in theory it should work and the forums online said it should, but I did it the motor mount way. A 4x4 block of wood, Jack the engine by the extended oil pan just slightly enough to loosen the bolts holding the engine mount, slide the mount over and you can use a long extension. That beats small turns over and over again with that rarely used wrench

Is this for the 2.0 turbo or do all of them use the same starter.

How did you mess up the oil pan?

Jacked it up more than necessary and didn't make the wood block wide enough😭
