Secret Special Stages: Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles

- This is a playthrough of the unused/secret Special Stages from Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles which I did on my phone. These special stages (with the exception of the one for S&K) are much harder to beat than the other special stages in each respective game (Sonic 1 and Sonic 3's are by far the hardest to beat).
Featuring the 7th special stage created specifically for the mobile version of Sonic 1. You can access it:
By selecting a no-save file,
Tapping "S" "E" "G" "A" when the SEGA logo appears (you should hear a ring noise).
Then on the title sreen press both of your thumbs against the areas roughly where the touchscreen in-game controls would appear (bottom left & right) and you will be transported to level select.
Then on the level select screen enter "06" on the sound-test, play the track then select "special stage" and the unused seventh special stage will play.
This special stage is really unfair.
Featuring the 8th special stage created specifically for the mobile version of Sonic 2. You can access it:

A very tough challange. You can't afford to get hit once by the bombs!
Featuring the 8th special stage from Sonic CD which can only be accessed by doing the following:
You need to have unlocked sound-test in Sonic CD by clearing all special stages in time-attack mode with a combined total time of under 4 minutes.
Then enter the numbers "7" "7" in sound-test mode and the 8th unused special stage will start.
It's a really neat special stage with Dr. Eggmans face always looking at you no matter which way you turn!
Featuring the unused 8th special stage from Sonic 3 which can only be accessed by doing the following ( I played using the Sonic 3 Complete hack):
When Sonic is on a swinging vine in Angel Island zone press: left left left, right right right, up up up on the d-pad. Then press start and A to be transported to level-select.
Then on the level select screen, enter "07" on the sound-test, play the track, then select "special stage A" and the unused seventh special stage will play.
The counter-clockwise spiral becomes insanely fast....
Featuring the unused 8th special stage from Sonic & Knuckles which can only be accessed by doing the following ( I played using the Sonic 3 Complete hack):
When Sonic is on the metal climbing frame in Mushroom Hill, press: left left left, right right right, up up up on the d-pad. Then press start and A to be transported to level-select.
Then on the level select screen, enter "07" on the sound-test, play the track then select "special stage B" and the unused seventh special stage will play.
This is a much easier special stage compared to Sonic 3.

Guys if you type 7 in the sound test and go in the special stage there whould be a word that is custom! (Only in sonic 1 mobile edition) (the word in the special stage is custom really)

Of the first 3 Sonic 3 has the only good special stages. Sonic 1 is barely controllable, and you have to have the Sonic 2 ones memorized to be able to do them
@Sir Micheal Hunt I Agree! I get all emeralds in mobile first, because it's more easier, and after i got all i tried in the original Sonic 2 because i have memorized they.
Sonic 1 special stages are the best in my opinon.
My friends think I'm crazy when I say blue spheres were so much more fair than Sonic 2's halfpipe.
Sonic 1's special stages are fine. Sonic 2's can eat a dick I never bother getting the chaos emeralds, and Sonic 3's are fun.

In Sonic 1 (2013) in the sound test if you play the 07 music and enter to the special stage, yo can enter to the "Custom Special Stage"

The 7th Special Stage in Sonic 1 mobile isn't unused. In case you missed it, in the level select, there's an option to change the number of Emeralds you can obtain in that playthrough from 6 to 7. Therefore, if you go through all the special stages past the 6th Emerald, you'll enter that 7th stage. Once you obtain that 7th, you're able to use Super Sonic.

Sonic CD is my favorite classic game
the sonic 1 "unused" special stage was never in the original 1991 version
and its only meant to be accessed when turning on the option to have 7 emeralds in the debug mode of the mobile version.
So I wouldn't really call it unused, just some secret special stage for those who want super sonic in Sonic 1
But i still don't get why an 8th special stage would be added to sonic 2's mobile version
maybe they wanted not only fix the rendering of special stages,but also update them to have these spinning half pipe sections?

Someone should hack these stages into their respective games. Also, an eighth emerald should be added to Sonic 1, to even things out.

Yeah, agreed. The twist is pretty much a reference to the Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn) special stages which sometimes had twists in them.

I knew the one from CD for a long time, but I didn't knew there was a hidden stage for Sonic 1. But the one for Sonic 2 is brand new to me. Are some of these exclusive to the mobile versions or am I missing something?
The special stages for Sonic 1&2 (in this video) were made exclusively for the mobile versions.

S3&K: not really. You can find these in "blue sphere" by locking on something that isnt sonic 2 or 3 with sonic and knuckles.
