Balatro is one of my FAVORITE roguelikes ever made, and it is one of the most addicting games I have played in a very long time. This video is a deep dive into WHY IT IS SO AWESOME!

One of my favorite things about balatro is just how quick it is; a full run takes about 20-30 minutes tops assuming you're not going super fast, which is so refreshing compared to other roguelikes which can take almost up to an hour

One of my favorite singleplayer games this year, roughly 100hrs in and still not tired of it. Also, after watching the whole video: Great overview of the game, maybe the best I've seen so far.
It is addictive on another level, unlike anything I have ever seen before.

@@chuck176 I'm very late but I picked this game up yesterday with extremely little knowledge of poker and I'm loving it. You definitely don't need to know how to play poker to play this well, the game does a great job teaching you and honestly figuring it out as you play is the fun part. Plus, there is so much extra stuff that expands upon poker so it feels like a whole new thing.
This is by far the clearest and well laid out videos on Balatro. You set out the premise and mechanics in a way that made it clear and simple. Great vid!
I've got 100 hours on this game and I am still loving every second. Trying to 100% the game, it is so addicting
I never play card games but for some reason I bought balatro. It is basically always loaded up on my steam deck. I love just sitting down and playing to relax for a bit.
That first comment, “burn out on gaming”. I fit the same criteria, been pushing through Elden ring because there is nothing else out and this hooked me for 5 hour straight today

Thanks for the recommendation, been meaning to check out more "card video games" but most that I've seen were RNG heavy and not fun to play because my choices didn't matter in winning. Love the shiny colours here too lol
1:39 is true. I knew Balatro was right up alley, but my wife has never been into a deck builder or roguelite before and she got HOOKED on Balatro lmao
the simpler the base premisse is, the more addictive it ends up being, I'd say. It's basically Luck be a Landlord on steroids for me... equally as simple, if not even more, and 10x more juicy

He mentions slay the spire which is another good option if you have any nostalgia for any trading card games. Into the Breach is also a great option. It’s a tactics game that works more like a puzzle game with levels that just take a few minutes each.

this game hooked me like when i first played vampire survivors when it came out probably even more, 80+ hours in and i just cant get enough of it
Dude you stole the words right out of my mouth! I can’t even begin to explain to people how when I’m 80 I will still be playing this. I sank 22 hours into the game within the first 3 days I’m 47 hours into the game in less then a week I need help lol I still can’t seem to get past the red deck! This is so Hard and unbearable fun and frustrating at the same time. You are amazing for making this video 😂 I can just send this to my friends and say dude. Just watch this

I wouldn't be into card games - I'm more of a story game kinda guy - but still interesting to see this
Man, I should get into this but I have hours into the demo of Dungeons & Degrenerate Gamblers, I don't want to overshadow that blackjack game
Tarot cards are actually VERY VERY good. Jokers like Vagabond can lead to some insane deck manipulation where your deck might end up being all Kings!

Great to see more exposure to Balatro, I am not kidding when I say that I will probably think about this game when I think of my game of the year later this year. It's just so good, and do not sleep on the tarot cards, they are so useful to modify your deck.

Just downloaded it and played it for the first time today. Immediately hooked has such a satisfying feel bouncing combos and mults off of the jokers man what a game.
Your review made me pick it up and give it a go! It was on my radar for a while but never looked that appealing - I don’t really play rogue-lites.
Well, guess it was worth it - 16 hours logged since getting it on the weekend 😂

I've played 5 or so hours. It's fun, but I thought it got stale for me. Maybe I'm just not good at it.
I get why it's compelling, though, and it's in no way a bad game.
One QoL I do want to see is the jokers showing when you hover over a card that it's affecting, or have chosen a hand before playing it, and the jokers show that they'll affect that hand.
When having multiple runs, destroying jokers, buying new ones and such, it gets a little tedious constantly hovering over the jokers to see their effects imo.
Just here to push this one up in algorithm. I love your game reviews man. But i can't deny how much performance of a video mean to someone like you. Hope this one perform well.

Great video. The only thing I've heard about this game was that it was good. I hadn't seen a legit review and explanation of the mechanics, until now. I definitely need to get into it.
I've been the same no motivation really to play games especially for longer than an hour recently seen my mate playing this on ps5 share play and can't get off it since

I just want to ask if you think a newbie who knows little about poker (doesn't play poker) can get into this game? I'm willing to learn if the in game tutorial is good.
You can definitely play it if you don't have any knowledge of poker, but don't expect to learn actual poker by playing this game.

We can all agree Balatro is awesome. But, if we could just come to a consensus about how to pronounce it. Is it Bala-tro or Ba-la-tro? I organically pronounced it as the content creator here has, until I watched another video in which it was pronounced the latter way. lol
(edit) Also,since you showed a clip, Loop Hero is an absolutely slept on gem!

Sounds a lot like Slay the Spire with the deck mechanics and RNG which, frankly, wore me out, though I'm willing to give this one a try :P

I mean, people literally have for centuries. In fact, some people so notoriously played card games so often, they were called “Gamers” (this is legit where the term originated, from poker and casinos).
