Love this! Inspired me to play around more with these mixes. I think what I need to do for interviews is actually use one of the other mixes for my headphones, and then NOT send the USB audio back to he stream, but just my mic. 🤔 Mixers can sure be confusing! 😁🙏
What software do you stream from? I used to send an analogue mix to obs on the l-12, allowing me to pick and choose what I send. I’m sure there’s a way to mix the multitrack signal into a virtual stereo source.
I couldn't quiet understand much. I have an L8 but I haven't used it for a lot of complex events. can. give a practical example for me to understand once again. Thanks
Castaway on some of my phone interviews they can't seem to hear mic 2 and 3. I am using the right cable. Any idea why that might be? We have a podcast where 3 of us are on mics and we do a lot of interview over the phone.
So I tried your method and I ran into the issue of my onboard sound card picking up internal buzzing from my cpu, but I found a workaround that is much easier: on the master mix, turn your mic up and everything else down. On your other mix (for me I did c) turn the in game audio up (channel 7) and mix your own voice in (I like to hear myself so I’m not yelling and run that to your headphones. This is essentially a mix minus without needing a second sound input. For added fun, you can set channel 8 to the sound pads and turn that up on the master to be routed through your mic.
thanks bro very infomative videos it helped me a lot. I just have some thoughts if ts possible. Im using my L8 in OBS studio with ASIO. both my mic and loopback are perfect. Is there a way i can broadcast the onboard fx. tried using L8 as my output but my mic also in the same loop plus my input mic in line 1. I hope there's a workaround. Thanks in advance and more power! 😁
I cannot put this into a video but I did what Zoom said in this email and it worked. I wanted to use the L8 in Discord without the USB looping back into Discord. No other connection to computer (iMac for me) other than USB. It worked. If you figure it out and make a video (remove non-essential cables for single mic and USB and single headphone), I’m sure you’d help a lot of people like myself. Here’s the email from Pete at Zoom. He had same problem and contacted Japan. You would want to have everything set as normal on the master fader mode, except for the USB return on channel 7. Then on Mix A, you would want to set channel 7 to receive the signal from USB. You would also want to have your microphone enabled and levels raised in Mix A. You would then want to monitor your headphones from the headphone output set to Mix A.
Just read your comment and I am surprised that zoom suggest this in an email, but not in their how to videos (and did not find any video about this). Came up with the same elegant and simple solution myself - and put it into a video: ruclips.net/video/RHPrh5Pw0fo/видео.html
Thank you for the video :). I tried to replicate the process so far but no luck (my fault). We use this device mainly for podcasts, but lately we've been using as an audio interface. When you say: "and that goes all the way to the front of the pc" Can it go to the back of the pc? Where does it go specifically? (side, rear, c/sub, mic, line out, line in?). After that, when you go to the desired program (discord, zoom, meets, fornite, etc) What should I select specifically in the settings? (usually Input Device and Output Device) Thank you!
Can this be done the opposite way? Meaning, if I have a mic plugged in to capture room noise, can I keep that out of the master mix going through the main outputs, but still send that signal into one of the headphone mixes?
Hello, I just brought the LiveTrak L-8 and I have a question. I can’t hear myself through the headphones. I have it plugged in and when I tap the microphone I see that it’s connected right but I cannot hear anything. Can you help?
So working headphones plugged in to the master output and turned up at the knob at the top. Move the channel slider all the way up and down before setting. In case someone has been Messing with the settings.
YUEN KA SHING 5C-24 possibly you haven’t set the sliders in the particular output channel you are plugged into. Also check you haven’t set the pan on your input channels. Then check the cables are intact and plugged in correctly.
@YUEN KA SHING 5C-24 sounds dumb but, try to check if the master level fader,The Red one, is not all volume down, sounds stupid but this happened to me like 3 times
Very nice video, but I have a question: What should I do if I want to do a live streaming using my Ipad/Iphone on Instagram? I have been trying to, but I couldn't yet. Could you please help me? Thank you Oscar
Hey, I watched almost all of your zoom L8 videos, Then I bought one lol. Well, the problem I am having I already contacted zoom but they never replied back the situation is as follows... When I am using zoom meetings conferences I use zoom l8 as my microphone and my audio output. After a while in the meeting, the sound from the computer that is going to channel 7 stops working so I have to change inside zoom meeting settings to the main computer sound out. after I do that I automatically change back to zoom l8 audio and it starts working again until it stops eventually. the other time this happens is when I am using OBS to stream to Facebook live. I go to OBS settings and change the output to main computer sound then I apply, then change again to zoom l8 sound and it starts working again. The problem is that the people watching the live video I am streaming tells me that there is no sound and that's the only way I find out.
So what I will try is to take a cable from headPhones from computer front and put as a channel on the mixer, this way the sound that comes from zoom l8 will enter back to computer with people's voice. And on the settings from zoom meetings and OBS I'll just choose output main computer sound
Fantastic vid. Answered my question in no time!
The analog mix-minus cannot be done by the RODEcaster! Getting an L-8 and selling the RODE. Thanks much.
Thank you! That's what I needed!

Noted!
hello need help why if i streaming i can hear great but the viewers from app the listeners can hear like ugly sound.
So, I need A PC to live stream with the l-8?
Thank you for sharing this information keep up the good work
No worries. There’s a lot of ground to cover but we will get there eventually.
Is there a way to get echo effect to mic?

Yeah you can decide exactly what goes into each headphone channel.

Thanks for the feedback
Could this be done on a laptop as well or just PC? I'm not sure how similar/different their sound cards are
Yeah for sure. Essentially the mixer is the sound card. As long as the laptop van handle the workload of streaming you are fine.
when i try to run my L8 through my PC, the minute I start up OBS the system crashes?
Oh dear. Is it a powerful pc? Are your resources being stretched? Does the multitrack work into a Daw?
@@CastawayStudios It just may be time to upgrade. It does work going into the DAW (audicity) but OBS it crashes

Strange. Sounds like maybe your computer is switching sources for some reason or the drivers are crashing.
@@CastawayStudios thank you for writing back i believe i will uninstall zoom l8 driver and see what happens.
its simply a AUX output as most mixers have :)
