  • For today’s video, we’ve got another Kinksize Kover! This song was released under Dave Davies’ name as Pye Records was trying to push him as a solo artist between 1967-69, to no avail. Ray even referred to his younger brother as Dave “Death Of A Clown” Davies in concerts throughout the 1970s as a dig at his failed solo career.
This is one of the harder rocking Kinks songs post Kink Kontroversy, and I’ve always liked it. I hear a bright snappiness, which could’ve been Dave on his brother’s 1963 Fender Telecaster, but I also hear the chime of a 12-string, which could’ve been Dave on his Fender Electric XII. I pulled out the Rickenbacker Carl Wilson for this one. It just sounds so right!
Guitar is 2000 Rickenbacker 360/12CW Carl Wilson signature model, amp is 2013 Vox AC15C1-PL and effects are J Rockett Archer IKON overdrive and Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb.
We’ll be back next week with hopefully some more videos, but also the return of ‪@joeburnsphd9387‬ !
Oh and by the way, #thekinks60
