So what was the effect this had on the tone. It would have been really useful if you had recorded it first without holes then rerecorded it with the holes and give us the two track to run through some software that would allow us to analyze things like harmonic analysis and sustain in a rigorous way. BTW great playing!

His left hand is crazy strong to do the pull offs and hammer ons he's doing. If people hate reverb thinking it covers for lack of talent, they must really hate distortion.

I don't see how the holes would affect the strings at all, but I imagine it increases the resonant frequency of the body. That would boost the highs a bit, boost the mids a bit more, and lose some of the lower range. That would make the guitar brighter and sound more detailed, which is what you're going for in this track.
You could probably get the same effect by using a smaller body or putting something in the body to temporarily make the cavity smaller.

There's lots of other percussion instruments the skills translate fairly well over to.
And once you learned one instrument learning another one isn't so hard.
Also, a huge plus is you can get an electric set and practice almost completely silently. Not disturbing neighbors or your own self consciousness.

After watching this… I don’t know what to say… I don’t know if I have words to describe how amazing and beautiful this music is. I felt this instant calming effect, like I was being carried away on a breeze. This is just phenomenal.

I drilled holes in my room mates guitar.
She was a LOT less impressed.
It might have been that i also filled it with expanding spray foam and exchanged all the strings with knitting wool.
Personally I thought it sounded MUCH better afterwards [as she smashed it against the stair rail in frustration]
    I love the classics.

Sound holes release internal pressure inside the cavity. When the strings vibrate, they move air in all directions, including into the guitar. When there are few holes, you increase your sustain, because the air pressure sustains the movement of the string. But when you put sound holes in. That internal pressure is reduced, and the strings can vibrate more freely. But, since theres less pressure moving through the strings, you'll lose the sustain. ~ Your friendly neighborhood Luthier.

@@XX1SICKNTWISTED1XX That's a vitriolic reply, if I ever heard one. I agree with the former guy; take a simple piece like the eternal 'Lagrima'. You can work on that tune forever without getting tired.
That's one thing that, say, a pianist never understood with our instrument. A piece like the mentioned; we'll hardly get any cred from them, for whom a similar tune may be played easily like a breeze prima vista. Few other instruments are so welcoming for a beginner, but so demanding for the keen student - said guitar tutor Frederick Maurice Noad. Question to you mate: what's the pitch of the natural harmonic slightly above the 3rd fret, 4th string?
