Key tip Benny, use 'Endurance' SD cards in dash cameras. Only found this out recently, but they are made specifically to take constant read write cycles, unlike standard SD cards
In regards to battery drain, most modern dash cams have relatively low current usage over time, and they will generally have a voltage cut-off to stop excessive drain preventing the car from starting. Modern dash cameras have come so far compared to what they were even a few years ago, sick to see a bit of attention coming the way of Benny on them!
i dont know if he said it in the first dashcam video, but its also important to run the cables so they dont effect the airbags in the caase of an acident love your videos mate
Just a tip for people running cables like that cars with side curtain airbags you may have to remove trims still and make sure you don't cross the cables over the airbags. Definitely easier to pop the cable up with the trim tool if there arnt airbags to worry about though. Also I usually power up the cameras before final mounting to be sure they are facing exactly how you want through the app, cos peeling that 3m tape off to move a camera sux
That was a good Sidequest. Excel serires was a hoot. Given the money, any top tier will make a build for you, or at least point you in a direction. If it were a normal USB connector, you could press the tabs to lock them in.
Ive seen a couple of similar comments but fair enough mechanics dont like being filmed but for now on im settings up what they can see and turn off but will have a hidden constant running cam hidden in the engine bay...my mother was charged $650 for a service she parked the car were asked she walked past a good few hours later walking her dog and the car was in the same spot. She returned home and received a call not even an hour after her walk saying car is ready to pick up...there is no way you can preform what the receipt stated in less then an hour and the car was still in same spot she parked it exactly how she left it when she dropped it off. This service is part of the new car log book service and if any warranty issues arise and they see services wasnt done that cooks her warranty....I would name and shame but without proof we could be wrong so next service we will see.
@@Nutty-w2k not to defend but from a different perspective, some dealerships put 2-3 staff on each vehicle so possibly the job was done in 1 hour but by 2-3 people ( 3 hours)

Remember seeing stacks of ac units at a Toyota dealer late 90s. They would fit them to Landcruisers and others for an additional cost when you buy a car.
My AE92 has dealer fit air-con that according to the service history was fitted when it was six months old. The original owner must have changed their mind.

Nah, insurers don't give a discount on the premiums for just having a dash cam, have already checked this. It is essential for both piece of mind and evidence in the case of an incident.
Mate! Don't call it a "ute"! It is a proper pickup with a body on frame, not a unibody car with a bed. Some might even call it a truck, even though it isn't because it doesn't have 3 axles.
Mechanics are worried about being filmed because they often don't do the job. Such as Toyota not actually doing the "still under warranty" oil and filter service that I paid for. Then gas lighting you by saying "nah mate the new oil in a Hilux goes black straight away". Funny how the "new filter" still had my dates scratched into it. Trust but verify.

Thats mad that Corolla's were still having dealer fit air-con as late as 2007. Wonder why they went that late with it?
