4 Beeps means connections issues. The beeping is because you’re pointing the antenna of the transmitter directly at the plane. I read in the manual that came with mine and read that there’s a cone of reception with a donut hole right in the middle in those volantex transmitters. I hated the beeping with mine but now I just keep the controller on an angle or pointing down and it’s fiiiine.
They use the same protocol as the 400mm birds. I'm using the TX16S with mine and it flies great. The receiver has ports for Futaba and DSM satellite receivers, though not a lot of room in there for placement. Like the 400's, the prop can go on improperly sometimes. I mark mine.
The protocol used was compatible with my sport cub 500 unlike the other warbird controllers with connection loss alarms. The sport cubs transmitter was so bad and didn’t have any alarms. Now I can fly it like a whole different plane.
volantex makes an excellent product line, got a few, I definitely trust this company. my first was the ranger 2000, big camera plane, and its one of my favorite cruisers still after four or five years of perilous missions. not sure why they call it a glider, mine now has a big gorgeous motor and big batteries, and tremendous endurance and stability and capability, an all weather long range forever flyer. I'm going to try their boats too. and seems prices are super competitive, with volantex. its an understated rc company, imo
great little plane and looks very realistic....your a great father and very natural with your sons....loved the way you handled his crash others should learn from your approach. impressive :)
Thank you, and keep in mind, I want so badly for my kids to love this hobby like I do, so I try really hard to make this fun for them. I tend to lean toward over-bearing and "hard" on them, kinda like my dad was to me, and his dad to him, and so-on and so-forth...not trying to raise soft men, but at the same time, I realize this is a hobby, and they could be turned off by me if I'm not careful. Crashes are part of the hobby, and especially with the RIGHT PLANE, it's no biggie. If it were a faster, bigger, more expensive plane, I'd have to and gladly buddy box to help them build up muscle memory and get where they need to be. I love that our youngest and oldest are into it, but my older daughter wants to be "good" before she'll be comfortable, which is impossible, as you know...so trying to take every opportunity to help her get there. That's why I love heli-drones, and these cheap, simple small airplanes...you can take them on with very limited to no consequences, so it's actually less frighting to the new kid.
Just discovered your channel and I absolutely love your content. Informative, friendly, and fun! Your flying is just great, and the camera crew is too notch! This plane looks beautiful. I think this will have to be my first RC plane...
Looks a lot better as the years go by especially the brushless motor now greetings from the uk Brian and Megan, have you seen the new xfly f15 twin 40mm I’ve just ordered from Ali exspress I now have all 3 in 40mm series f18 f22 and now f15 this is the hobby that just keeps giving lol or addiction more like 😂great review guy’s , G🇬🇧
Nice review! I was really pleasantly surprised with this one since I'm allergic to UMX apparently 😅 Thanks for showing the 2s batt capacity also. Mine came blank.
Brushless baby! Awesome looking paint scheme. My 400's (Spitty & Corsair) need more powwwer to fly grand in manual mode.. Have to do loads of trimming in the tx, but they hold level and true from mid mode to "all me" mode. Fantastic vid! P.S. I'm one of those pinchers. Never played video games.... Thumbs never felt natural. Either way, I can crash it into the ground or tree as good as anyone. Lol😂
I have that exact one! Test flew it and landing is the hard part. I pull the power all the way back and the plane bounces and crash lands. Do you think I should land it in intermediate mode or beginner since you said intermediate you have more control on the elevator?
tough call. depends on where you're landing. I can put down in tall grass, or runway, but if you're on short grass, you can just glide it in, and stall it into the ground, if you wish (gear off) or for wheels up-wheels down on pavement, just fly it to the ground...don't get out of the power too much, and just keep her level and flying and once you hit GROUND EFFECT, then get all the way out of the power and wait for it to land...it's hard to hold off that elevator, and don't try to FLARE on this little guy.
The first landing I had with mine I underestimated its weight and tried landing it like the 400mm warbirds. It ended up being too rough and snapped off one of the landing gear panel hooks. I hope there’s a way to replace it.
Pretty good (to excellent) video and review of this for you let the kidos do some of the review for you. You should do a comparison of this one with the WLtoys A280 P-51 mustang. Sounds like a good one to do something like that, though it's been out for a while now.
Hey Brian, yes, that’s understandable. A friend gave me a couple old balsa Hobbico high wing guys with .60 OS evolution engines, and I’m toying with the notion of giving it a try. My only experience has been my Apprentice, so I should be able to handle it. Any plans in the grand scheme of things to build a separate structure that is attached to the house to store All the planes and.associated gear? As always, thanks for getting back to me. Anthony
I have a couple in the basement that belonged to my late Grandpa, but have never flown them. I would like to do this at some point, but we're spread too thin to add another layer to our mix at the moment. I'd also like to have a few turbine jets too, but that's kinda out of the question without more space, and a few big ticket items first on the property. Once the Aerodrome is done, or more done, we will start back at some of these things. It's just a time and space issue, for me.
Seems the transmitter has a center notch i.e. not optimal if the transmitter is pointed directly at the plane/receiver . Beeping is a warning signal. Have fun flying!
Brian have you ever thought about designing your own airplanes I know myself if you had your own airplanes that you design I know I would buy one anyway I wish you would give it some thought. You and camera crew together I bet could design one heck of a RC airplane
Hi sir. Ive been binge watching your video past few weeks and im taking interest joining the hobby but i never have any experience flying rc. I really2 wanna fly edf jet but i know thats is not for beginner. Would this one is suitible for me who absolutely have no experience playing rc plane?should i get fms 1220mm ranger instead?or should i just play with rc plane simulator like pheonix rc5 first to train?
I hope they KEEP both sizes, and just upgrade the 400mm with smaller brushless motors. I'd love to see a slight improvement in the GIMBALS on the cheap controllers, and two servos on the wings, and possibly some flaps for slow speed flight. Also, I want to have a mode where I can turn OFF AUTO-LEVELING without shutting off the Stabilizer. We'll NOT be holding our breath, but if they do it, they will have a UMX killer at this price point!
@@BrianPhillipsRC First of all I'm so amazed you responded to my comment. You're my favorite RC RUclipsr. Second, I agree I hope they keep the 400 largely as is and maybe just add more plane types and liveries, brushless power and steerable tail wheel (and prettier looking landing gear). On the 500mm a servo on each aileron would be fantastic. It is a bummer about the transmitter. Maybe they will sell PnP version eventually. Also the idea that these companies could make affordable RTF EDFs someday is a cool thought and wouldn't surprise me to see it
NO. It is a "different" value, BUT they're getting CLOSE to the UMX, but it's still BLOWN AWAY from the more expensive UMX P-51. Gotta keep in mind, RTF makes a big difference in cost basis. bprc.me/P51 - UMX VS bprc.me/Volantex_P51_500mm bprc.me/Volantex_P51_500mm_Amazon
For people with an open TX radio, would you recommend the IMX p-51 or this one? Is this one that much more durable (you said you would never toss a UMX like you did this one)? Is there much difference in flight performance in expert mode? I'm still fairly new, so the durability is certainly appealing. But if I'm not able to practice flying in expert mode, I'm not sure this is a good next plane for me. As always, thanks for the great reviews! 😊
A very good video, but a bit over the top with the sales pitch--A total novice to R/C flying will find many of the comments on offer a minefield and very difficult to understand, especially towards the end of the video.Flying the model safely for the absolute beginner is somewhat lost along the way.!
That's because we don't ONLY speak to total novice pilots. We speak to a wide variety of pilots, and we don't know that ahead of time, since we have no idea what the audience expectations will be. We've been at this for so long, and have learned so much, but one thing that never changes - we try our best to answer the unanswered questions, and help as many rc enthusiasts as possible.

Do you mind me asking what channel is the gyro on? I have a Radiomaster Boxer I've managed to bind it but can't figure to switch off the gyro

We have bought several of these plane's. They are an absolute blast.
They really are...some more than others, but this one was really nice!
As always an AWESOME review Brian ! Thanks ! This looks like a great plane for my grandkids to learn on. Thanks camera crew too ! :)
Very cool that it is controllable in expert mode..
Looks a nice upgrade from the more basic versions. Love your detailed videos. Best wishes from the UK!
Thanks Brian thanks Megan .

Love it when the whole Pham Damily gets involved with some flight demo!! Awesome video! 👍
Great to see your kids flying ! Fun stuff !
Very nice. Like the army green.
You are awesome, I watch a lot you're videos and I have bought a lot of my planes with your recommendations. I just purchased the new volantexrc p51 .
Just ordered one!
Awesome! Good luck, and enjoy! These ones are getting really nice!!! Glad to see brushless motors finally in this size class.

@ I usually land it on concrete.
I just bought one lol, thank you for the info!
Better quality than a umx.
Hell yeah ❤
Thank you for your review! Can you confirm if the plane is below 250g?
I just ordered one of these, transmitter etc included, could I have just bound my NX8 to it?
The first landing I had with mine I underestimated its weight and tried landing it like the 400mm warbirds. It ended up being too rough and snapped off one of the landing gear panel hooks. I hope there’s a way to replace it.
Same issue here, weak landing gear assembly
My family owns the real version of "Never Miss" it sits in the hanger behind my house along with a few other warbirds when there not being flown

Parts are hard to find.
Looking for spare props and no luck always getting the 400mm parts
Any luck? Uk

Hey there, great Video.
Is it possible to bind this Plane with a Spektrum NX8+ ?
Greatings from Germany Michael
This plane does take 3s batteries
Hello Brian, unrelated question, ever do any gas planes? Thanks, Anthony

Or for people that like flying planes that if you crash... SO WHAT!? lol
I believe these will become the standard and replace the 400mm birds someday
