a couple hours ago i saw there was a new video but i made sure to get dinner in front of me before watching because watching these videos while hungry is so stupid
Thanks for the explanation. I watch all kinds of shrimp catching videos but no one ever explains the gear and how you set things up in such detail as you. Man I'm loving this channel.
I am 74, but when I was a kid myself, my dad, and my grandpa used to to the Indian river, around The incoming, or outgoing tide at night, and shrimp net. Had a blast, and dipped a lot of shrimp, a couple of 5 gal. buckets in 3or 4 hours. Good Times!!! We hung gas lanterns off the front, and back, so everyone was dipping. Oh no you got to have cheese grits, and shrimp!!!?!!!!!
I have a shrimp and grits video a few months back! I remember my dad telling me about snook fishing with Coleman lanterns lowered to the waters edge. Thanks for commenting and watching Gary
Green lights draw plankton and zooplankton . Shrimp love to eat plankton . We done an experment about 10 years ago off the end of the SC Springmaid pier at night . We dropped a 4 foot green magnet light into the water . After about 10 minutes things started to pick up , after about 20 minutes shit got crazy . Around 30 minutes later we had lots of shrimp as well as bait fish, ribbon fish, blue fish and many others . The shrimp are not really scard of the light but they are scared of the other fish and will jump out of the water . We ran it for about an hour and security made us shut it off.
Man your show is awesome! I just found the channel last night. Bringing back memories. I used to fish with my Grandad at Blount Island and Beacon 34 back in the 1970's. Keep up the good work. I love how your wife and Daughter get involved also. Back then there wasn't so many regulations. We used to keep about 12 bull reds and freeze them. If they didn't want to get ate, they shouldn't have bit our hook!
@@TugTrashOutdoors And the salt run flounder gigging when we would take 60 or so... We used to walk out onto the Mayor jetties and catch sheepshead with a cane pole and our bait was barnacles we scraped off of the rocks
Hey Tug! Started watching you a while back because of Bluegabe. Now my whole family watches. I was in Scotland for work a couple weeks ago and my son made me promise not to watch any of your videos until I got home and we could watch them together. Great content! Keep it up man!!
Tug you are a good teacher of life and my grandfather always told me the best things of my life. For you teach many things of life it self. Love you bro, always keep on keeping on the best things since slice bread .Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC.
All the video came out bad in the dark unfortunately but we did ok. I want to come back down and run the red headlamp. Hey my buddy in Louisiana is looking for a shrimp net, he may call the shop. I dunno if you could ship? @outside_the_levees
Ian, I'm learning so much binge watching your channel. Unfortunately, living up north, I'll likely never have the chance to catch shrimp, scallops, clams, or crabs BUT at least I have some idea how it works. Keep grinding brother.
The wee ones are great for ceviche! Love that you took us through the circle...prepping to net, netting, cooking (even stock!) If you're ever out in Mims area, come on by, we'll trade an overnight stay for a shrimping field trip ; )
Hey Tug that was cool. I’m from the west coast and it’s always interesting to learn new recipes. I’m going to try making that with Carolina Gold rice. Great video.
Brother, just a couple miles north of me, and I just got off the river last night shrimping, 🦐🦐 did pretty well, plus a half-dozen nice big crabs as well. 🦀 Keep it up..🎣🎣
Yep, Ziploc those heads then wrap that in a plastic grocery bag then out in the outside trash. Or Ziploc em in palm size bundles and freeze for crab bait with other fish heads and whatnot. If you're really feeling the oats, have a fish head or two, handful of shrimp heads you already did your stock from in a mesh bait bag. Drop the bag and a pogy into the bait basket for your trap. When time to pull up, just dump the bag contents rinse it repeat as needed.
Ian, that was another good one. I would love to taste your cooking. I hope y'all are doing well. Keep up the good videos . God Bless you and your family. Sammy
Great video Capt. Tug , there is a difference between a brown shrimp & a pink shrimp ( Spotted Shrimp ) the pink shrimp has the spot on the side and a brown shrimp has no spot .
Ian gettin all fancycadid talkin about tail tale sign and opaque usin them other big words too 😂. That shrimp dish looked delish ( perloo )🦐🦐 keep em comin Tug . How is Crystal's ankle doin ?
@@TugTrashOutdoors Yep, alot like the creole jambalaya we cook here in cajun country. Nice touch there with the bacon. I'm sure it adds one more layer of flavor. I'll have to give it a try.
That's what it's all about right! A super cool layed back family that just decided to put on video the things that they do having a great time. Doing the stuff they love to do!! Right on
Hey Tug, thanks for another great video. I really liked the instructional video at the beginning. I will defiantly be try the shrimp Perloo recipe out.
What a great night shrimping. We have all the equipment and know how to do it, it’s just a matter of getting out on the right night and being in the right spot. I know we will figure it out in time. We are waiting for the weather to warm up a little more and the shrimp to start running at Port Orange, then we will cast net a few.
Wow dude!! Now you've given me a new recipe to try. Looks like it tastes good. I can probably try it with Crawfish too!! Hope ya'll get a turkey or two.🦐🌴

Ian I feel for you doing the one month away one off deal been down that road and it's tough on any relationship. You're lucky to have a girl that is cool with you being away that long at a time. I know it pays the bills but good for you brother!
