Hey man, first of all, I love your channel and I’ve been watching for a while. I have both cameras. The x70 as well as the xf10. I love both of them so much. But I have to say that 9 out of 10 times I grab the xf10. I originally just wanted the x70 and I put a bid on both and won both. I was pissed and thought I’d sell the df10. I got the x70 first. It felt so familiar because it’s layout is so similar to the rest of the Fuji camera lineup. When I got the xf10 I already had a negative view on it because a lot of people have mentioned that it feels like a step back. But... I challenged myself to use each camera for two weeks exclusively. After two weeks with the xf10 I fell in love with it. It feels smaller (the flip up screen on the x70 makes it more bulky and thick) and I constantly forget that it’s in my pocket as to where the x70 also fits but I’m always aware it’s in my pocket. The focus modes on the xf10 I can change with my thumb without ever having to switch a nob in the front, the flash is set to a swipe and flash compensation is amazing. The xf10 is truly a one hand shooter. I’ve done tests with both cameras and the autofocus on my xf10 is consistently more reliable than my x70 (though in my opinion they’re both good). I’m not in anyway saying that it’s a better camera only that my experience with both of these cameras has been amazing. I do a lot of street photography and I love the xf10 for that. I do miss certain things that the x70 has and so if I think I’m gonna need the flip up screen then I’ll take the x70. Also, the xf10 doesn’t have the feature where you can program different q menu recipes like on the x70 or the rest of the x line. Instead you get a q menu and while changing the film simulations is so easy on this camera once I switch the simulation it doesn’t change the highlight or shadows to a custom preset. Only the simulation. But other than that I think they’re both really great. I’ve also noticed a noticeable difference in the sensors in regards to color. I love both and I find the colors out of both of these sensors to be exceptional but they’re different. The xf10 reminds me of my fuji x100 original camera as to where the x70 shoots closer to my xe1. All and all, I personally think they’re both great cameras. I don’t usually share so much in a comment so I apologize if the comment is too long. I love your videos and because of your video on the xm1, I ended up getting an xa-3 (the colors on that camera are amazing). Anyways thanks for posting and here is the link to a video I made about the xf10 in case you’re interested and I hope you’re all well in Canada. @@MrVietnamcycling happy shooting! Yeah, it’s great for black and whites. I also love the astia in sunny conditions. Congrats on your xf10 and your x100.
Just actually returned my silver x100v and bought one of these off the fuji Facebook group for 400 dollars I always favored the 28mm focal for my type of shooting and it's actually pocketable
I purchased the x70 when it came out right away. I had at the time only was using a Canon 60D. Needed something pocket size and went with this instead of the Ricoh GR ii. It made me turn into a Fulltime FUJI user. I now have an XT30, but still take out my x70 if I just want a lighter feel. Still a great great camera. I wont ever get rid of this one. Great review!
Firmware for xf10 1.11 deals with autofocus. What everyone is forgetting is that the highly praised ricoh gr3 has the exact same focus issue and... no flash
Great video. Apparently Sony stopped making the sensor not long after the X70 came out, which is why it was not sold in volume. The chance of an X80 is very slim apparently, again due to sensor complications, which is a shame. If my X70 ever dies, I suspect I'll have to get a Ricoh GRIII to replace it.
Thanks for a nice chatty review, Scott - but sorry to say I don't agree with your unhappy views on the XF10. I think it's a beauty in size, price and performance. With the latest firmware upgrade, snap focus setting at 2m, shutter speed 500 on a pleasant day and a street shooter's hat on, you end up with a card full of perfect shots. Mess around with a b&w conversion in Lightroom and wow! I've been street shooting for 10 years and the XF10, in terms of all the cameras I've owned, is top of the heap. But that's just me...
Love my X70 especially with the 21mm attachment, would also have loved an X80, and often looked at the XF10, besides lack of control and tilt, it is missing flash shoe to put a glass viewfinder and the ability to attach the 21mm lens
This felt like an Unbox Therapy review I loved it! I just snagged an x70 in pristine condition for a great price, I'm 6'6 so the screen will literally save my back. I use the x-pro1 normally for street and marketing shots so this is the perfect camera for me. I'm happy to finally have access to classic chrome now so I can save a few hours on editing for Instagram shots.

I feel that there have been a couple of firmware updates because I'm not finding the problems some people have found with the XF10 camera. In my opinion It's such a Power House!! ;-)
One of the beautiful things about Fuji is that they make all kinds of cameras in all different shapes and sizes. I like all the tactile features of the X70 and was hoping they'd come out with an updated version, but when the XF10 came out I got it as my daily pocket camera. I've really enjoyed the small size/image quality combo and have never had a problem with the autofocus missing, so maybe I just got a good version! What didn't you like specifically about the zone focus on the XF10? I've really enjoyed it as a way to shoot street, but maybe the 2m distance just matches up better with my normal range of shooting than it did for yours. Anyhoo, hope you stay safe and we can get out of this crazy time unscathed! Cheers!
Thanks for a very positive review of the xf 70. I want one!. I also saw your xf10 review previously as I was interested at the time but I'm pleased I somehow heard about the xf 70.
I just picked up an XF10 and have been pretty happy with it. Build quality seems really good, it has a nice heft but is truly pocketable (melts away in a front pants pocket!). If it was any bigger, though, it would be pushing it - I worry that the additional bulk of the X70's tilt screen would push it over the edge, and then defeat the purpose of the camera, for me. Other than the tilt screen, which doesn't interest me, I do prefer the design of the X70 - aperture ring, shutter speed dial, hot shoe, filter threads, plus the option for a wide-angle teleconverter and optical viewfinder (although at that point, just by an X100, because you've really killed the pocketability) - it's just more fully featured in that regard. The higher-resolution sensor is obviously a win for the XF10, though. X-Trans versus Bayer is a little more tricky and totally subjective - I would have preferred an X-trans, to be honest, just because Fuji X. Ultimately, I wanted the newer camera and it was also easier to find copies quite a bit cheaper than the X70, which seems like has gone up in cost since it was discontinued.
Worth to mention too that the Fuji X70 also has a 42mm filter thread allowing one to use the excellent tiny NISI ND filter kit made for the Ricoh GR/GR II. I switch easily from one to the other with the filter kit, whereas the XF10 don't have any filter thread (I'd still like to get a used XF10 at some point, when I see how this guy uses it ; he says his camera focuses good and it shows, so the infamous XF10 focusing rant must be either from prior the firmware update, or some quality control issue on some batches). ruclips.net/video/i7XsVjifyQE/видео.html Focus wise the main problem I encounter with my X70 is more on Macro shots, it often misses where I want to focus, focusing elsewhere, but I don't care so much as, usually, with macro, one would lock the focus by half shutter pressing and then move forward or backward to get the exact focus point wanted then fully press to capture. On your side Scott, thanks for the video, and if you ever go through a good focusing XF10, it would be interesting to see if it would make you revise your judgement on the little XF10... One advantage of the XF10 is more Mpx (useful for crop) and it's closer in size and weight to the very light and small Ricoh GR, whereas, although small, the X70 is weighty and fill heavier to carry around. Also, the flip screen of the X70 is somewhat fragile, no Gorilla 9 rated glass there, more like a 5 or 6. and it's more exposed (bottom corners) if the camera drops on a hard surface. For what it's worth, I like the simplicity and responsiveness with any phone contact one needs to make with Fuji for any after sales/repair needs.
I can't imagine it being worse than XF10.. I also own an XF10. To be honest. The picture quality of XF10 is incredible. It's better than Ricoh GRII or even GRIII. It's probably as good as an x100f image quality wise.. But the autofocus is literally trash. making the camera pretty much unusable. Unless you're willing to use it in "focus by wire" manual focus mode. Yes I have the latest firmware
