- I'm a kettle corn guy, and this little gadget has fascinated me on RUclips. Well. Here I am testing it out and giving my thoughts on what I think. In the end it took me 30 minutes to make a small bucket of popcorn. Was kind of a joke. But it was still fun to do. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but in the end I don't think other than for RUclips this will be my primary way to make popcorn. A big batch of kettle takes me 3-5 minutes to make. Anyways. Enjoy the video everyone. Let me know what you think. I laughed because my graphic designer left the room as I was ready to pull the trigger. Lol.

Use a spirit-cooker, most popcorn come with one. why? it burns hotter - and doesnt produce this much residue on your cannon and will take around 10 minutes, depending on your cannon.
Additional, even when adding a bit of sugar (not the best idea, makes cleaning a bit harder) or salt into the cannon, it will come out pretty bland.
To make it gorgeous:
For 100gr of corn in the cannon:
Melt 50gr of Sugar in a Pot, until it becomes liquid and slightly brownish, then add one big spoon of butter, stir it on low temperature, until it is a nice mess of caramel - then pour the cannon-popcorn into it, stir it (wihout heat), so that most of the popcorn is coated. As the cannon produces rather roundish popcorn, the coaating will be pretty consistent.
Neither good for your health, teeth or diabetes, but pretty yummy.
I used the alcohol burner with dual wicks that came with my kit. It takes about 10 minutes for me.
I still get a lot of unpopped and half popped kernels.
The "starts with S" - Saccharin? This is sometimes used in China... ubiquitous artificial sweetener, but it's a carcinogen so not recommended. Some of the Chinese websites that sell these sell little packets of "popcorn saccharin". I plan on experimenting with some of the more modern aritificial sweeteners and salt to see if I can't popcorn-cannon a load of "kettle" corn!
BTW, you can puff all kind of things like rice etc.
Also, I think it would be a fun project to use a gas burner, some kind of power-driven spinning motor, and an electronic pressure gauge to partially automate the process.
The attraction is probably the "Boom". :D
I made a rice video too.
I'm gonna order that seasoning. Nice to meet you bud. Thanks.
saccharin hasn't been proven as a carcinogenic for humans, it's based on a study on rats in the 1970s that's since been disproven by further studies.
Sucrose?
as a man in Illinois, which popcorn is the state snack of, i love popcorn and kettle corn
Same. I love making it and eating it.
mine came with a wicked burner (lighter fluid or lamp oil?), so I believe that your sterno decision might have been in error.
If you watch other videos they also use Sternos. I wanted something that was safe handling a fire inside.
@@DanielSchmidt94521 Mr popcorn (on RUclips) recommends mineral oil. She had a finished cannon in 3-5 minutes (claimed). Her cannon did not seem to have the same layer of soot that I have seen on other videos. My primary goal at this point is to discover the best fuel first.
Until I see an unedited film. I'm not going to believe it.
I even used a blow torch out side and have a video of that and it still took 20 minutes.
I'm aware of their channel
@@DanielSchmidt94521 I bought six different kinds of fuel (on my kitchen counter for over a week) & plan to try one of them this Saturday. I am leaning towards using the mineral oil recommended by a young lady online. I hope that I don't have to use a blowtorch!
Wtf dude you didn't even tightened the cap!
Mind you. This is my first time using this. And my camera man. Was scared thinking it was going to explode. Lol
I'm getting one
I'm gonna make more videos and get better. I've only used it twice.
It's still fun to use.
I am glad that I bought this one.
Will it still be a rounded shape even if you put butterfly popcorn inside?
No. Butterfly corn looks different all together.
No. Butterfly corn looks different all together.
Hey new subcriber here❤
I love your videos
What corn did you used for this video inside that popcorn cannon?
Is it mushroon popcorn?
Yes. Mushroom
Just need more practice.
What fuel did you use for the burner?
Those little Sterno camper things
It took 30minutes because the cap was not tightened probably
I know how to use it. I've used it 3 times now. It does take practice.
@@DanielSchmidt94521does it still take 30min now that youve refined the technique?
Why are wearing those gloves?
That's a good question. I think that it came with those gloves in the box. It was in Chinese. I don't know Chinese.
I guess if it was hot. These gloves would protect me.
I watched a lot of these videos before making this video.
I was thinking of buying one but now I see it's not worth it. Complicated, takes a long time to cook, a bit dangerous and the final product almost identical to the microwave and kettle stuff. Thanks for the heads-up!
Microwave even tastes better.
see my comment above. the result is different from regular kettle / microwave popcorn. And without further seasoning it will taste bland to dull.
still it is the coolest way to produce popcorn - especially when having guests, and when seasoned well, its totally worth it.
just keep in mind, the cooking-process is a bit different, so it is not "western popcorn".
It only took me ten minutes to do with lamp oil ,this gentleman's method took too besides he said this was only his second attempt at using the machine.
@@jrhette I don't believe you.
