Don't be shy to carry a net. Even a 6 inch handle net can at least control the fish so you can get it with the fish-grippers. Good video!

you're lucky to have such rivers , here in morocco we are fishig the most at atlantic ocean were the tides are little bit high
That doesn't sound to bad. I've only fished in the ocean twice so far and caught 1 fish.

Man, I am a kayak bass guy but I live in Briarcliff and I wanna get into MO River Cat Fishing...
I just use my kayak to access different bank spots on the river.
FYI you can stick your hand in their mouth and grab their lower jaw rather than screw with the grippers. Just hold on tight in case they start to flip around.

1 Madkatz Rod with a Abu Garcia Maxx 60 and 2 Slimecat Rods with Penn spinning reels I got off eBay

I use shrimp in my Kayak. Use cut bait from the bank. Usually skipjack or silver carp

What rig are you running if you don't mind me asking, also weight. I've tried up to 8 ounces and the current still drags it wherever it pleases
I use the Carolina rig mostly or the Santee with the peg float. Throwing 4 or 5oz sinkers. Flat Bank Sinkers are my favorite. Sometimes not alot you can do with the current just gotta look for a good spot and go for it !
How much weight you using? Heaviest I have (that I can find) are 5oz disc sinkers. Think those will suffice in spots like these?
Heaviest I use are 4 or 5oz Flat Bank Sinkers. They work pretty well but sometimes no weight is a match for that current.

Happy Holidays my friend and thank you for your service. Lake wise you can't beat your area. Melvern and or Milford. Tuttle creek outlet area is pretty good. River wise haven't fished up that far but I just start with access areas like boat ramps or walking trails and find spots.
