Thanks for the absence of fight commentary and never once sating “insane” or “friggen but letting the fight and your effort speak for itself. Well done and enjoyable. Congratulations!
So you don’t like commentary on videos? Sometimes that’s the best part, we can watch anybody fish at anytime...the different personalities speaking while fishing make it enjoyable
Sportsmen like you who let these giants go and the river being cleaner than it was in the 1960s have made this possible. Congratulations and thank you for sharing it with all of us.
Appreciate it man. Not my most graceful release but when you're handling a fish that big things aren't gonna go perfect and I wanted it back in the water as soon as possible. The mud was really working against me here. Thanks for watching!
@@chadballard6770 same. We mostly do alternative methods. But I’ll hook one with a stick one of these days. I live near mcbaine, and try to fish all summer.
@@cat-tales8109 I'm gonna be fishing near mcbaine towards the end of February, maybe the last weekend in February. How are the shad around Mcbaine? Easy to find?
One of the only real fishing videos on Utube. You were fishing. I did not fast forward or mute the sound. Thank You so much. Great Job fishing by the way Ron In Los Angeles
If more people would post videos like yours, I would not mute, fast forward or dislike so many of them. You were fishing non stop, did not talk more than you fished and did not make them high pitched sounds like a girl. Thank you so much. Ron in los angeles
I'm in Cincinnati on the Ohio river.haven't caught any that big myself but have seen some caught 50-60+ lbs.its hard catfishing when the Gar are running sometimes.awesome catch my friend.
Same here I'm from Steubenville I learned if u put a swivel n let it rest on the eye of your hook n just tie an 8 14 inch pice or stran of nylon or pull rope 8 of 10 times ull land them gar. Tried everything n nothing worked till I tried that it like velcro to there mouth
Man, what a tank. Congratulations on a fish of a life time. One suggestion try using a big dip net, better for the fish, easier for you. Once again great video, Congratulations.
That's a awesome fish, you got me beat I fish the James River a lot and 71 lb is my biggest so far but we catch a lot of 30 to 55 pounders and occasionally one between 60 and 70, you should definitely be proud
Brother, that was GLORIOUS!! An epic battle and victorious fight to the finish!! Congratulations on that miracle catch!!! WOW.. Could watch this over and over again!!!
Yeah I've only fished the Missouri a few times since the Mississippi is only a half mile from my house I can hear barge traffic. This winter I plan to hit the Missouri River alot more then the Mississippi so maybe I'll see you around if you fish the winter months.
@@scottwilkins1591 yup I'd like to fish the Mississippi more, but I'm the opposite situation as you, it's a lot further from me. Thanks for watching man!
Subscribed. Really appreciate the fast forward on the long fights and the lack of music and talking. You just fish and that is what I appreciate about your channel. It reminds me a lot of NDKAYAKFisherman
Oh my gosh, what a beast. I would be really nervous to catch one that big. And wondering how to get it up by myself. Great job, I also seen your arm shaking to
I moved from Illinois to Florida to be with family because i left at 18 to find work, and because i was offered a job i couldn’t refuse, when i lived in Illinois i lived off a branch of the mississippi, we never had giants we just had tons of small ones, biggest one i’ve ever caught was a 31 pound blue, but here in florida i like fishing at a lake behind my house, but it’s a bass lake, we have 13-15 pound bass, but we only have small little 5-7 pound catfish, so keep up the awesome works and tight lines.
UltimateHookset Bass aren’t my cup of tea haha, they’re a little too finicky, they’re such picky eaters and all there is in this lake is huge bass and small catfish, the bass won’t eat anything besides a black beaded trick worm, and the catfish won’t eat anything besides cheese and bread dough, so it makes fishing hard because with Covid everywhere has been sold out of Strike King worms, so i’ve been left the past two weeks sitting at home wishing i was in my boat fishing.
You've probably answered this question quite a few times before but what is your setup? Your rig? I'm close to the Ohio river and a few nice lakes. I've catfished when I was younger but lost touch with the fun. I want to get back into it. I'm glad you don't talk like crazy and it's really nice to watch you land those great fish. Awesome, just awesome.
Thanks man... I'm not familiar with the Ohio at all really but over here on the MO and MS the water is very swift. You may have to adapt the rig to your river but I just use a carolina rig with 6-8 oz of lead on C3 7000 reels. I've got a video on it, it's pretty simple.
Great show , I have a suggestion,.when people watch fishing adventures the things that make them come back for more is to see the hit ,the rod bend , to watch the fight ,and see the fish landed but another thing is they love to see the weight of the fish before you turn it loose and if you hold it mid body by the mouth and where ever they get a sense of just how big it is if it's a large fish .also people love to see you bait and set out your rod . I don't know how many views you get , probably a lot but I promise if you do or try what I said your views will pick up by double digits try it , sure you will see. Good show
That was sick my biggest flathead is about 30 no blues here in AZ fish mostly big swimbaits for big bass but when stay overnight I will catfish awesome catch!!! Cheers!!! :))
UltimateHookset Flat head in some super shallow water! When I grabbed that line thought it was hung for sure but it slowly came up & my heart jumped once I saw that beast!
Yeah out by Labadie I used to stop at a little country store that had pics up of several big cats. 60+ lb cats seemed to be pretty common. Biggest was 78 lbs but regardless the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers offer some of the finest cat fishing anywhere in the world. I'm in STL and we're spoiled rotten here with access to both.
Where about are you fishing ? I live in St.Joe , Mo. I do alot of river fishing . My biggest is 87 lbs , but this yr I haven't topped 50. Just curious about what stretch of river you're fishing 🤔

Where u using mono or braid?
I think that’s a good point, but I’m still baffled he was able to keep quiet, I would’ve been hootin and hollerin over a fish like that

Another great one, that has to be your new personal best, after the 70 plus in the kayak, catfish Dave, look out!
Be careful on those mud ledges. I've been in my boat and seen big sections of them collapse into the river out of nowhere.

I fish the Missouri in Washington mo. I haven't had much luck with any big cats this year. Just found your channel. Another sub for you sir.
I just love how he kept quiet during the fight, so disciplined. Great job.
