Power is nothing without control! There's a reason Pirelli made that saying famous!
Made in China rubbish.
Made in China. Only a fool would buy such rubbish.
Gorgeous car, but each incident needs to be investigated on its own. There are too many fools who get into high powered cars and instantly get into trouble. Just look up Ford Mustangs on RUclips, as many of those drivers are total idiots.
Exactly. If only half of the 100k pre-ordered people has gone for a test drive, and 0.1% of them are incapable, careless fool, that alone would make 50 crashes.
probably some arrogant people pretending it's F1
And nobody is giving bad press to those brands because of that… could this be fear to Chinese car brands? 🤔
Remember that Elon destroyed a McLaren
Porsche clone.
I started driving in the late 60's when muscle cars dominated. They were relatively cheap so they were everywhere. Unfortunately most drivers were not trained in how to drive a high HP car and many got into trouble. People just like to drive fast.
They should go on the track then or face the criminal offence. Sorry I do not understand this leniency towards drivers. In the UK motorbike riders are prosecuted often but drivers not so much. Elon started this stupid trend of pointless over the top acceleration figures which impresses mostly idiots and those are the last people that should have an access to it. But he will give them a mandatory introduction to his beta "self driving" instead. The guy is a moron.
@@10secondsruleyou can't switch off TC and ESP in the Teslas though(*), and their implementation is really good. Heck, even the Bolt has 200+ HP - more than the FWD setup can handle at low speed, but it does mean it can overtake safely in more situations. Same with our Model S and Y (both non-performance models, but plenty quick) - knowing I have enough power and dependable ESP means being able to get into dense traffic from a side road much easier and safer than the underpowered Toyota that enters traffic anyway causing hard braking behind it.
I'd also argue that the acceleration figures "trend" has been here for almost as long as modern cars have existed, but to make a point that EVs aren't "boring" Tesla chose to give their family cars sports car performance. Porsche did the same when they launched the Cayenne ten years prior to the MS becoming available, so I call BS on that claim.
*: Well, it's possible to switch off all assistance, but you have to enter "secret" modes and ignore warnings about not using them on public roads.
But why do the Teslas with similar performance have not that issue? Evidently the car has serious issues regarding handling.
@@user-hq8lb1yv9k Tesla doesn't let you switch off ESP and traction control... the Xiaomi letting its tail loose looks like TC/ESP is completely switched off.
Can't say if it has a handling issue, as what was shown looked more like driver error. Of course it could be that it *also* likes to "surprise" drivers (IIRC at least the older Porsche 911s are know for snap oversteer), but until some experienced drivers deliver their verdicts I'm leaning towards driver error.

Tesla is working on getting FSD to run in the background and not let you do anything stupid, like take a corner too fast or drive into something, or accidentally put it in drive instead of reverse, but they haven't rolled that out yet. When they do, they may very well go from being in the most crashes to being in the fewest, but for now Tesla's accident statistics actually disprove your point.

I used to think bmw drivers were the biggest a holes on the road but now Tesla drivers have them beat! Too much power and people acting stupid in public roads.
load of rubbish. BYD has stopped test drives of the Seal performance through out Australia because of customers having 0 clue about how to handle such powerful cars and yes CRASHING them during the test drive. This isn't a self driving car that crash by them selves. You just can't let anyone test drive a 2sec car. Just like Ferrari's and Lambos.

First time I drove a sports car I almost crashed it, it's a totally different drive than a normal car
First car I drove was a Dodge Viper. Was a close friend of my father's car who ran a car service franchise. He thought it would be too funny to see someone "Learn to drive" in it. And to be honest, an 8L V10 is kinda impossible to stall but I'll never forget how crazy the throttle was.
i think it is the inexperienced drivers causing these accidents...not used to the power, over correcting and etc. Most of these drivers are first time untrained sports car drivers
my thoughts exactly, what make things worse is this ESC and TC can be completely disabled on this car. Nightmare for unskilled driver.
Humm i kinda agree :)
From a CN reviewer's video, I found out that ESC and TC can be completely turned off on this car. Source: ruclips.net/video/PJW20GddEM4/видео.html
For some unskilled buyers, since the price of SU7 is not that expensive, many test drivers may never drive a car with more than 500 hp in their life before, if they disabled ESC and TC, this may lead to a crash with wrong hands. I am pretty sure with ESC and TC on, it will be a boring car but at least "safe".
Xiaomi was careless by allowing test driving on the max version. 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds is not a joke. I repeat it is not a joke. That is why cars with this types of performance are expensive to make sure people who have experience with expensive cars drive them and not just someone broke who rives a toyota yaris
Who is that video you posted intended for? They don't have this platform there so why post on it?
@@All2Skitzd Your question is very unclear, I assume that you questioned about how this Chinese can put video on RUclips? Just use a VPN. And he is Jacky, a famous car reviewer in China.

''DON'T BUY ANY CAR'' if you have this logic.
Don't blame the car. Blame the drivers. Too many who think they are of the calibre.
The biggest problem is Xiaomi letting too many digital social media influencer get on their test car, which normally talk about phone and digital stuff. You don't see this happen to those actual car review influencer/media,because they know their shit. This is what happens when you allow so many young exited drivers getting in sport car for the 1st time, crash
Checked the Chinese website, most of the accident because the driver is inexperienced, changed to drift mode ( rear wheel drive ) lost control of the car.
Why allow such drive modes for the media drives first of all. Just disable them for regular drives and then enable them on a airstrip or an empty parking lot.
checked what website? also? it is not an excuse😂。。no traction control? fanboy
I did that to my Mazda 939 decades ago. Unrecoverable oversteer.
It is not the car that is dangerous. It is the drivers who cant handle its power.
Exactly what I was thinking. If it was a major defect it'd be recalled.
All modern cars with that kind of acceleration have reliable traction and stability control systems designed to accomodate drivers with the lowest driving skills. They'd be virtually impossible to insure if they didn't.
Xiaomi has a fandom full of young city residents don't drive more than twice a year. This is why.
The 1020 hp Model S Plaid can be driven safely by a teenager. It can be crashed, but you really have to work for it.
I saw a chinese car tester trying the car on track, and the brakes did not work at all, so he drove straight of the track... very good car :P
My wife took my Subaru SVX flat six AWD Coupé out on narrow windy country roads. She complained that it sagged on corners. My terrified daughter said “but you are going 70 Mum”. Wife was horrified, she thought she was doing 40.
If novice drivers crash Ferrari's or Lamborghini's, would you say it's the car's traction control problem? 😝
Such a nice shade of blue, too.

EVs are new. Electric motors develop max torque at "stall" ( 0 kph), whereas an ICE car develops max torque at ~ 3500-4500 rpm. EV acceleration is astounding, even for experienced drivers. For commuters it's bloody dangerous.
If I remember correctly, that car model has multiple driving modes. If the driver sticks with comfort mode and sport mode, he won't get into problem like tail spin. But if the driver switches to something like a custom mode (don't remember the name), he can do whatever he wants with the car including tail spin. That can be fun in a race track with no other car. But that can be very dangerous on a street with many cars around. The bottom line is those drivers are most likely idiots.
A tale of 2 cities and 2 companies. In China, a consumer product maker with zero car-making experience successfully launched its first EV car (SU7) after 3 years of work. In the USA, the world-leading consumer product with zero car-making experience failed to deliver any finished EV (Project Titan) despite 10 years of development and tons of money spent
Chinese tourists are famous in my city for their driving skills 😅
Blame the incompetent driver, not the car.
A little bit of research of viideos shows that by default Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control (TC) are turned off. Seems the reviewers are unable to drive a performance car without them turned on.
The problem is not the car, as you seem to suggest, but the drivers who clearly cannot handle so much power and need some training to be able to do so.
It’s got sportbike performance and these drivers are unaccustomed to it
2.8 sec 0-60 most never experience it, let alone handle one
You can get into the same kind of trouble in a Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD. If you are on any kind of slippery surface the instant torque will break the backend loose and send you out of control.
Most of the modern EVs have enough torque to break lose the back end so I would suggest stinking withe the AWD models...
Only takes about 350-375 hp with a 4k vehicle driving on damp road to break loose.
cars are getting better and better, drivers are getting worse and worse.
Drivers are worse simply because they're more distracted, spending more time texting while driving, looking at their phones, and otherwise not paying attention
That’s so true but it’s not only that the cars are that much better. It’s the electronic assistance helping to control them. Which makes me wonder if you need all that on a ROAD it means the car is way overpowered. It’s beyond stupid now. Fun fact our small car in Korea has 16sec 0-62mph - guess what? I’m always the first from the traffic lights - nobody cares about it here apart of immature teenagers.
Yeap I have seen two tesla and audi ev in 3 crashes in past 1 week in my local road. Previously I have gone thru months without seeing a crash here 😢. Something is awfully wrong..
All these EVs have a giant iPad in the dashboard, it’s no wonder they’re so distracted.
So, basically, it’s a Chinese Mustang. 😎
Su7 actually allows you to adjust ESC, TC level, front-rear distribution… maybe that’s an important reason behind. And though it has not been launched for long, there’re quite some tests: 10,000 tests per day for many mi stores, from moring to midnight… No car has ever received this kind of popularity.
TikTok influencers drive a sub-3-second car for the first time,

Based on the footage, this is the result of bad drivers, you can tell they have have disabled traction control and have tried accelerating fast around a corner.

They were giving high number of test drives, dealers extending hours to cope with demand.
SU7 can disable TC, but some drivers disabled it even they don't know the basic of drifting...
Apparently the SU7 has a “drifting mode”. Perhaps the crashes are due to inexperienced drivers trying to “drift”. Xiaomi should make it possible to “lock away” this mode so that no one can use it unless they are authorised by the owner to use the drifting mode.
He says I have never seen anything like this before, Because it's an amazing car and the most advanced technology also breaks sales records by chance also because it's made in China, you suddenly applied how many vehicles have had accidents that you didn't do this test on any product, In summary, when you said all the good things about this vehicle, that it was so difficult for you, you looked like you were sitting on the toilet.
There's no car that will not collapse in a 200 km/h crash. It's just no sense.
700hp rwd… what can you expect?
love the channel, Sam. just want to add a few things, to put things in perspective.
1. the Su7 has 3 trims, but most show cars are from the 4 base colors, with blue the most numerous.
2. most crashes are probably not from influencers but test drivers. my wife and I did the test drive already and we had only about 30 min (on a weekday) because there were too many ppl trying to get their hands on this car. my wife never drove such a fast car and was very cautious, but I suspect a lot of ppl weren't respctful enough of its power. there are about 5 test cars where I test drove so I guess there are hundreds of them on the road.
3. a lot of ppl are scrutinizing this car and even a small "mishap" could go viral, such as a screw on the ground that looked like it might had fallen from the car.
so yeah the SU7 is a fast car and the acceleration literally made my wife sick. you do need to be careful handling that much power.
Drivers don't know how to handle performance cars.
That's what happens when people who can't handle speed gets their hand on speed.
The problem is the acceleration is too fast and those inexperienced youngsters don't know how to handle a fast sport car and crash and then blame the car.
Remember the legend 911 RWD !!! ...It had exactly the same result with so many silly drivers !!!! So...lets wait and see....
6:35 driver clearly accelerated too much, no matter traction control......
we have a good deal of accidents here with Ferraris and Porsches just because their drivers did not know how to drive responsible when having so much power under their foot. I say nothing wrong with a high powered vehicle. The issue is with a "low power" driver.
I've seen something like this before.
Most people today have never driven a RWD car. It's not the tc, it's that people aren't used to RWD and power.
My first car was a 318 v8 Dart. Then a 396 Chevelle SS with mods.
I now drive a Subaru BRZ/FRS; when I shopped for the car, I saw endless ones wrecked on the front fender the same way. It's got handling compared to >$100,000 cars, super nimble and balanced, which inspires confidence and fun. In turn (pun) people think they can floor it on a corner and drift like a pro.... and quickly back off and get snap oversteer. They've watched more videos than they've driven.
The BRZ/FRS also has a Torsen differential, that makes it really fun to drive... but snappy. And worse, to get more mpg AND to make it more fun, they came with hard Prius tires... very slippery.
I'm going to say the Xiamomi needs to moderate the power to the outside wheel when turning (or maybe it's just one?) and have an ECO mode that changes the acceleration curve on corners. Not traction control - which will fight the rear stepping out, but then make snap recovery tricky if it happens.
Do a search for BRZ/FRS and junk yard. They'll all be wrecked on one of the front fenders, like these Xiaomis. I saw the thumbnail and thought "ah, quality control" but after seeing the video and damage I'm thinking "is that an EV version of my car?".
The SU7 ranges between 1980 and 2205 kgs, not 2,500 kg!
I remember you need to be trained to drive the MK1 audi TT before you allow to buy one and it can do around 7 secs to 60mph.
Well that must be because that car have no traction control 😋
If it's the self-driving acting up, it's a software recall, but more then likely it's just a bunch of inexperienced drivers. This is probably going to be my first high performance car too, and the first thing I'm going to do with it is attend an advanced driving and car control course, then probably also a racing course.
Imo attending this kind of course should be mandatory for non-FWD cars over 400HP (a new "performance" class on the license).
Beautiful car! Get a test driver that knows how to drive.
You are correct. Saw a BYD performance test in Malaysia. The test driver was an older guy, 5 times Malaysian Rally Champ he knew how to handle the power.
@ralphzoombeenie2330 I saw that, and the whole time he thought he was on high-quality sports tyres, then at the end found out they were the crappy eco tyres.
Well, I would drive CRAZY with such a powerful car and very likely to crash it too!
So there are a ton of articles on the crashes. Two of the ones you listed are from last year long before the realease. The one in the snow was the first crash in the SU7. That information has been on the internet for a long time. I guess we shouldn't expect an internet journalist to do any research. More the Anchorman 2 approach. Speculate and make the news up.
“Astoundingly Shocking!” Hagar, you crack me up! Maybe these test drivers are being distracted from actually driving this powerful automobile by trying to turn on their TV at home and order some chow mein to go?
When my rwd posi ran through mud and gravel with puddles and dry pavement, well, I could feel the rear end discussing those.
And if I went WOT pulling a hard uturn from a full stop in first gear...that's a similar ride if you don't get ahead of it.
Hard to tell if it is a traction or suspension problem or a driver who just couldn't handle things.
I did a test drive in the Zeekr 007 AWD (not performance) a couple of weeks ago. I floored it while in sports mode, the rear passengers screamed! I was extremely careful and only took the car from 30 to 60km /h. The car can do 0 - 100 km/h within 3.5 seconds. If I was driving it like a maniac without caution, I would have easily crashed it.
The Xiaomi CEO himself took the car on a 15 hour road trip. So I have my doubts as to the traction condition issues you mentioned.
I’d say the car was SO damn good it means the weak link is tyres, road conditions, AND, the human inside. It’s possible the car grips and accelerates really well but unlike more traditional vehicles - the edge of traction perhaps is unforgiving - maybe this car gives no clue the driver has reached the edge of its grip on the road. Sports cars traditionally are built to be lightweight and agile. EVs are different in that they are heavy, but with the ability to put out full torque from standstill.
Hopefully these issues are all solveable! It's an amazing looking car at a great price. TBH I wouldn't put it past other car companies to pay testers to crash them on purpose. Not saying I think that's happening, just wouldn't be surprised. Traction control should hopefully be easy to dial in soon.
Like a 1000cc sports motorcycle, deadly in the wrong hands, I have one and it scares me. I also have a Seal performance but still in ECO after 6 weeks. Get to know it before nailing it. You'll live longer.
It's a smart phone makers first ever car. Apple tried to make a car too but never got to the last stage and they have nearly unlimited money. Xiaomi probably needs to add some type of beginner mode setting where the speed and acceleration are set to the lowest levels for test drivers. Drivers of ICE cars are not used to the level of acceleration available in EV's.
Beginner mode? 🤔 Now you mention it, there are a lot of aspects of life that could use a beginner mode 😅. Case in point - I literally dropped my fork in my lap as I was writing this! I need a beginner fork with ropes attached to my hands like kid's mittens! 🤣
judging by the sales, the hype behind this car was probably massive too, so many people jumped in on buying one not realising how hard it is to drive a supercar.
😂 EV are barely faster in acceleration and are trash around turns.
It would appear this car lacks proper stability control, traction control, and the right set of tires.
Great idea. Beginner locked in electronically untill 200+ hours in the car.
@ralphzoombeenie2330 or gradually unlock more available power at set KM/Hours driven. But maybe have some kind of test for experienced drivers to bypass it.
If you have no idea how to handle a 650 hp car, don't effin' get or drive one! These things are weapons and should be treated as such! I almost crashed an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio because the rear tires slipped in the rain, but I knew how to get the car back under control. If you don't have enough experience with a powerful car and driving situation at the edge of control, take it easy and book some time on the racetrack or at a safety training course!
Hi Sam, great that you report about the SU7. Regarding quality problems, that might be possible as it is the first car by Xiaomi, however, most reports on chin media are rather very positive, there is huge attention and the competition (most in deep water) seem to be very afraid and ready to explore any neg aspects. Again, it might be possible but I still do not see much evidence in this regard...Axel
PS I'll keep you posted on the issue.
Two batteries, can’t imagine what 2 replacement batteries would cost.
One important factor is the high RPM. Reaaaly high RPM... Check out the specifications!
LOL guys its in the SNOW, what do you expect? crashes are on the driver not on the manufacturer
So many crashes point to design flaws that lead to instability under normal driving conditions.
The high amount of torque reveals those flaws.

If you all recall Porches' 911 has a nickname "Widow Maker" before they put in AWD. Imagine an electric version (literally a copy) will do any better? If you don't understand, the massive power in a RWD configuration will cause a tail spin in a heat beat, loosing control.
Depends on performance, reliability, safety, customer care and maintenance. Yes, the car looks good but we will see.
Interesting: my electric scooter is from the same company: Mi365
Very good little scooter… while it works: I has serious design flaws, like failing electronics, and impossibly difficult to repair or change tires: basically out of reach of your normal user, and I suspect bike repair shops would be reluctant to do the job. For one thing you need motorcycle level tools, and completely disassemble the motor: how much would they charge?
I've prohibited my son from driving the electric vehicle with the red plate because it's undeniably faster than many high-performance cars. Entering full auto-driving mode requires thorough familiarity with the vehicle, as it could potentially be a tactic by competitors to tarnish its reputation. Until further investigation, scepticism remains warranted; sometimes, things seem too good to be true. However, I had assumed the company conducted ample test drives before the launch. The significant number of test drive crashes shortly after the launch seems too much of a coincidence.
Su7 definitely has traction control. But it also has so-called “custom drive mode”, which allow driver completely configure everything including traction control. That could be a problem
The required modifications will undoubtedly be implemented prior to the launch to guarantee the product aligns with the predetermined criteria. The company acknowledges the possible repercussions on its image if any complications surface. Neglecting these matters could significantly affect their upcoming ventures within the automotive sector. The company's meticulous attention to detail is apparent, standing in contrast to the regrettable incidents linked to Boeing's aircraft launches. The Chinese company exhibits a cautious demeanor in their deliberative procedures.
It's not the car, it's the driver, they always like to hit the accelerator at every corner during test drive.
Yes, he feels he has become a reliable driver😂
0-100km/h in 3 sec. it's a hypercar number. people shouldn't take it easy
NO REFUND ON PRE ORDERS TO THE CHINESE. SOME ORDERED JUST TO SHOW OFF THEN TRIED TO CANCEL IORDER.
XiaoMi makes some really nice products, I'd be shocked if this is anything other than driver error.
The local Ferrari dealer in China has stories of people wrecking their sports cars within 48 hours of taking delivery due to just not knowing how to drive a high power machine. These have similar performance so I can see the same happening.
It is much bigger than a model 3. Saw it in person yesterday. Very long. The seating angle feels a little awkward and the height is very low.
MODEL 3 #1 in SAFETY.
I've had some issues with xiao mi software on consumer electronics.
The car is good, while many Xiaomi's users are known for being reckless and irresponsible in handling matters, .
SU7 sounds like a Russian fighter jet
