I remember the dread of the 'deep end' I felt when I first started going to my local pool at the beginning of this year. I daren't go past the sign on the wall which says "No non-swimmers past this sign." I should say that the 'deep end' at my pool is just 1.8m, so not really very deep at all in comparison to Coach Jeff's pool, but it seemed like the very murkiest depths of the widest ocean to me as a terrified noob. Then, after literally 5 to 10 mins in a one-to-one lesson, in which the swimming teacher got me to do a few things that proved to me that I was not going to sink to the bottom like a rock, my brain totally relaxed about it all. Now, in month 10 of my swimming journey, the shallow end seems almost like a puddle to me. I'm beyond amazed that this lifelong fear took such a short time for me to overcome.

Hi. I can relate to this. So I joined our local swimming pool in April and was a beginner. After two weeks at the end of the month, after I learned how to side breathe, my trainer took me to the deep end which is around 6feet, I could swim there. But somehow I didn’t overcome the fear, and avoided going to the deep end. I also started learning how to tread water and also learnt how to roll on my back if I am tired and just back float. So by the beginning of August, I was swimming in 9-10feet water with ease. Now I rarely go to the shallow side! 😌

This is my problem area. I was taught to swim but was too afraid of the deep. I got around to jumping into 8 feet but because I can't coordinate breathing out my nose things go wrong.

That's wonderful I can't wait to get there. I'm still afraid right now, but I'm only five weeks into my training.

Following this channel and the swim Skool app has revolutionised my fear of deep water and swimming with my face in the water so much so, that I now look forward to mastering these skills fully and enjoy my 3 swim sessions per week . If you want to learn to swim there is no better teacher

Thank you so much for doing this video. My swimming instructor yesterday excepted us to go straight into jumping in the deep end. There was no progression whatsoever. These are the type of steps I need to build up my confidence. I'm going to try these steps so I'm not so nervous next time.

@@thereelrhonda6850 Thank you but only recently! When I realised it’s all psychological I’m more comfortable in the water. If there’s a lifeguard I remember there’s literally no chance of me getting hurt. Worst scenario I’ll swallow water. That makes me brave!
