Brilliant video thanks. You are one of the first I have watched who is actually "modelling" what you are trying to teach!! I assume that you cannot tell whether or not your participants actually do adjust their screens to 50:50 side my side mode?

Actually it seems like whenever I tried switching to presenter view, the view in zoom also changed to the presenter view? Do you know what actually caused this?

Thank you for the demonstration! What if I want to present over a presentation and just talking over the slides with no video on Zoom? What do you recommend? I already have the PP set up- do I just share the screen and start talking? I don't see a function that I am actually being recorded. What do you recommend? Thank you!
For slides when you share your screen... you can go into advanced in the share menu and highlight which bit of screen you want to share. This means I can see all of my desktop and all the upcoming slides. The participants only see the "square" of the current slide. Thanks thought great tips

Howzit Rich! Really helpful, thank you. At our company we use Teams but all the points are similar. Teams lack a split view which is frustrating.
Hey Shawn , for Teams you can hit alt+f5 in ppt before you start, then you can share the ppt show with the audience and then alt+tab your speaker view to you (to avoid needing the post-its.

- I hate to say it, but presenting is a sport that you have to practice in public. Put your hand up for every talk that needs to be done.
How do I kill the nervous stutter?
- You don't need to at all, I toured with a phenomenal speaker with a chronic stutter, he got a standing ovation every gig because his content was so good. If you craft your content in such a way that the audience needs to hear it, they do the work. But also, see point one above.
How do I stop forgetting the necessary words due to the stage fright?
- If I NEED to say something, it will be pasted on a slide like a billboard, it's rare though. The audience doesn't know what I intend on saying, so when I skip a line, nobody knows but me.

What do I do when my boss’s boss gives me less than 24 hours to prepare for a New Hire Orientation slide deck that is honestly horrible (horse made by a committee kind of horrible) and I don’t know the content well? Did I mention they want it to be an *actual hour* in length and there are 44 slides for an MS teams presentation. These people have no idea how to present. I literally taught public speaking while in college, and yet I’m pretty sure I’m stuck with a bad egg this time. OTL
Hey, for TEAMS (which is where happiness goes to die) I's suggest prezi video which easily imports even the shittiest of powerpoint files. Pic a very basic template in prezi Then use the 1,2,3 keys on your keyboard to bring the slides in and out of focus.
That way you can introduce the content that they have given you, but not have to keep the docudeck in focus the whole time. It also means that you are not a small thumbnail.
See my second to latest video for more on this. And remember that there are no boring subjects. The give-a-shit tanks of your new hires should be full, so use that to your advantage.

@@RichMulholland What if you are doing a pre-recorded webinar? They will be viewing a video only, not actually be in the meeting. Is there any way I can make myself not be a little thumbnail for prerecorded videos in zoom?

While your sharing your screen, click on the 3 dots on the meeting toolbar and click on 'disable participants annotating.'

Sorry I thought you would play the video, never mind. :) You said something about 'a setting on Zoom that notifies the Host when the Participants that are in the Zoom call have switched screens, for example accessing Facebook.' I tried to find it on the web browser setting but could not. Could you please guide me to this? A very handy feature indeed!

Why on earth do you have your camera view on small and your main screen on the billboard at min.5.00?? Seems like a foul on a Tutorial, or am I missing something? I came here to learn the night before a small presentation with only experience as an attendee only many times. Just seems like a strange example!
Well spotted. I address this at 7:45 - I usually adjust this at the start but wanted to demonstrate in this video how I ask the audience to enable side-by-side mode. I prob should have hinted earlier that this was coming :)

Hahaha probably true. The problem to a degree is that YT punished the "EF" out of short vids. This video is three times as long as my usual and performed 100 x better than the average BECAUSE it is longer. It's so tricky. Thanks for watching though 👊🏽💥

The true mistake here is being so judgmental. The very reason I am watching this is due to suffering from social anxiety related to feeling judged when I present. It is people like you that make us feel that way. Do better.
