The end always gets me, when Landon says his monolog on the jetty at the lake and the music sets in, i ALWAYS get goosebumps and start to cry no matter how often i've already watched this movie 😭.
Just reading ur comment already make me feel sad but happy like the movie make u feel 😂 best movie ever the rest are just copy after copy … God bless u and ur family Dany
This movie brings a new meaning to my life, I lost my husband 3 months ago to cancer, and although we didn't have a long marriage like we wanted to, we shared all the love in the world and that will never change
I just realized that this is the same place where Landon and jamie had their first kiss and where jamie told landon about love is like a wind i can’t see it but i can feel it.
As much as this is a love story about Jamie and Landon, I always thought the ending showing Landon kept a relationship with his father in law was the most beautiful, heartbreaking part
Not only that but Jamie's father didn't even like Landon in the beginning and if you think about it, Landon is all Jamie's father has. His wife has already died, now his daughter. His son-in-law is the only family he has left.
I always loved that too. Even though reverend tragically lost both his wife and daughter, he gained a son. Even better is that Landon’s mom still kept in touch with him too. Beautiful movie.
I fell in love with this movie when it came out 20 years ago. Though I never would've imagined back then that almost 2 decades later, I'd be in the same situation as Landon. AWTR is profoundly heartbreaking, more so now that it ever was. But still as meaningful as ever.
Yes when my friend died of brain cancer whom was married to a great man. To marry a dying woman is hard. But beautiful for 6 months.❤ For Shannon and Joel.
I have never seen my little brother cry when watching movies. But I remember years ago he was on the couch watching this on the tv and I left him when I went back into my room. I walked out of my room to get something to eat and I entered the living room and he was still there watching it, I went back to my room with my meal. Later on I went out to get a drink then I heard some sniffing coming from the living room, I enter the room and he was still watching the it but with tears streaming down his face, I went up to him and said “do you want me to get you some tissues?” He replies back to me with a quavering voice and said “Yes please”. I got him the tissues and I said “was the movie good?” And he says “It was beautiful”.
if i ever pass away early than my husband, i still want him to move on. but my ashes better be in the house. so in case his new wife does something stupid i can just be a poltergeist lol
This movie is so incredibly acted, as a grown ass man I cry like a baby Watching this movie. True love is a beautiful. As men we try and now show emotion with movies as we don't want to feel like we're soft, but movies like this make it impossible not too.
I really never seen the movie but this is the part that breaks me every time. I always watch this to help me remember the happy times that my wife and I had while she was alive it's been over a year since my wife passed on.
@drunkydrunk2351 Thanks it's been two years since then and not one day goes on without missing her and enjoying her company, but it's going to get better soon.
I watched this movie and even though it was extremely emotional in the end. It was still beautiful. I am just sad and couldn’t believe that it had to end that way, stories that have a sad ending like that always gets me every single time whether if it’s with a family member or a close friend of mine especially if they’re going to pass away at any given moment of their lives and mine as well. I wish things didn’t have to go that way. Unfortunately, life is too short, and cannot waste it on such negativity so much. We should really cherish everything that we have with our loved ones as much as we can before our lives give out on us or if something unexpected happens to us like if it’s a disease, someone or something literally kills us, etc. It’s an evil and cruel world we live in that has given us cruel lives. We just gotta get through it no matter what the case may be to anyone
This Movie will never fade! I am telling this to my grandchildren when i get old! One of my Favorite Love story of all time #LandonCarter #JamieElizabethSullivan
When you finally get the one thing you've always wanted......then you lose it just when you're starting understand it's real value Fate has an awful way to be cruel to us
Idk what happened to sparks adaptations to his books but his early films were actually really good solid films and then they went to B movie garbage. This, message in a bottle, and the notebook are all solid films.
I fell that any relationship he have after Jamie would fall short. So he will probably spend the rest of his life alone maybe helping the less fortunate volunteere on doctors without border or something similar.
ig in the novel, a timeskip is shown where Landon is like 60+ years old...he is unmarried and still wears the wedding ring from Jamie..safe to say he only loved her in his entire lyf
So what now? You’re going to spend the rest of your life “reminiscing and remembering”. You knew her for less then half a school year. It’s been 4 years. Time to move on. You just going to stare off in the sky until you’re 80?
I’ll be that guy. Soooo he’s not gonna remarry? (serious question not being sarcastic). Most Americans do after their significant other passes away. Patrick Swayze’s wife remarried not even 5 years after his death to cancer. Bruce Lee’s wife remarried twice. I can go on and on. This movie was a great American love story, but lets be real…. Americans, American actors and celebrities often have multiple spouses (google them) rendering love meaningless.
Im sure their dead spouses would want them to eventually move on. If I was married and I was dying, I would want my spouse to know that I would want them to eventually move on and find love again, as long as it was with a good person that treated them well. Anyone who truly loved someone in life wouldn't want that person to mourn their death so much that they're never able to recover and live miserably for the rest of their life. 🤷♀️. Now someone who gets married like 3 months after their spouse dies, that's fucked and probably means they had a side piece the whole time or dont know how to be alone so they just jumped into shit impulsively. But if its been a few years....i mean they have to persevere and go on with life eventually, right? 🤷♀️ if they truly loved their dead spouse, they'll never stop loving them. But they can make room for someone else eventually and love again.
Not always the case for everyone. You ate also generalizing as Americans are a melting pot of different cultures and beliefs. Some remarry, some don’t. It’s an individual experience and decision. Also just bc one remarries it doesn’t lesson the love they had for another.

I just realized that this is the same place where Landon and jamie had their first kiss and where jamie told landon about love is like a wind i can’t see it but i can feel it.
I think their first kiss was at the ending of the school play right after Jamie sits down from Singing.

I think you have to be missing a soul to not love or at the very least cry at some point during this movie. Its divine and hold it sacred in my heart!
Souls are overrated. I'm as cold as ice 🥶

This was actually a good movie, at the time I didn't appreciate it because I was 13. But in retrospect, it was a well made movie.
I love the end when land on remember Jamie and their love for one another. Wish I could find that kind of love
Jamie and I had a perfect summer together, with more love than lots of people know in a lifetime, and then she went, with her unfailing faith. 😢😢😢😢

You say that as if it's specific to Americans. Yes, oftentimes widows and widowers remarry.
