This is one of the most heart touching movie marriage proposals ever ..He helped her complete her #1 and most important wish which was to get married in the same church as her parents..This movie allowed us to watch how Jamie's love for God turn a wild and self-centered boy into a loving and selfless young man..I end up bawling my eyes out every time I watch the ending of this beautifully made movie..
Zsanett Szőke I don't think there will ever come a time when anyone can accept her death. I think all of us refuse to accept the ending and instead we all picture Jamie and Landon still together living out their lives and growing old together.
I love that too!!! Everything his dad has done for the two of them. And his friends realize how important Landon and Jamie’s relationship and are there to support him 😊
This movie really represents what love is! It shows that no matter how much you love someone you will go above and beyond for them, regardless of what anyone says. I personally like this movie better than the fault in our stars.
True love never died. It never harms, never lies, and WILL do anything for the other person's well being. When a man loves a woman, he displays actions that make it clear to everyone else and is proud to have her as his lover. He looks forward to spending time together.
Until to this day, nothing can top this proposal scene for me. No ring. No direct I love you. But its so emotional. The way Landon made it seem like marrying him is the biggest thing Jaime can do for him. And they were so brave to tie the knot knowing they will part ways too soon.
This would drive me insane, imagine finding youre soulmate, the love of your life the girl of youre dreams and then knowing you will see her never again, you cant touch her or talk with her you cant hear her voice, the only thing you can do is think about her
I didn't feel like they did this scene justice from the books. It's called 'A Walk To Remember' because by the time of the wedding she is so frail she can't stand up, however she musters the strength to walk to him on the day of the wedding, and then spends the rest of the ceremony in a wheelchair.
I have to disagree. She is literally dying long before Landon asks her to marry him and before he built the telescope for her. We already get the impression that she is frail, but she still agrees to marry him as a sign of strength. Her walking through the church doors is like a final act of rebellion because she was expected to die before enjoying the one moment that every girl dreams about. A type of middle finger to God.
Amelia B It also had to do with the contracts as well. Don't forget this is back when Britney Spears did "Crossroads" and there was a sex scene in that film so that vs. Mandy Moore in "A Walk to Remember"..no sex scene for this one.
Ray Schwarz plus Mandy was 18 when the movie came out and probably 17 when it was filmed and Shane was 6 yrs older, so I think a sex scene would have been out of the question or weird. Imdb says it was filmed in 39 day's despite only having the limitations of 10 hr day's due to Mandy being a minor
@@sarahswomley2580 She was 17 when this was made and came out. They filmed it around and during her 17th birthday(04/10/2001), and it came out 01/25/2002. So, she was still 17 when it came out.
kekeduggs Yep, it's a tear jerker like Here On Earth, which is the same premise, starring Lee Lee Sobieski and Chris Klein. These movies don't always get the greatest reviews from the professional critics, however, they reach their audience on an emotive level that serves to eventually make them classics. Which goes to show how little most critics know about reviewing movies, and how romantic most people are deep down in their own hearts....
I know right? That scene with landon and his dad breaks my heart every single time! Briliant movie and actors and everything. Usually I don't really like romantic movies, but this was just..briliant. Love it.
The final scene where he goes to her father’s house was absolutely perfect. It shows how much their relationship has grown. At first he did not trust Landon at all, and Landon did not like him. But as he watched Landon not leave Jaime’s side he realized how much Landon loves his daughter and grew to respect and love Landon. It was so powerful.
I'm a guy and this movie makes me cry every time I watch it. I love this movie. We had to watch it in scholarly and in my class the boys were more upset and emotional over it than the girls
No matter how many times I watch this, I cry every time. This strengthens my faith, my resolve to pray for my new future wife, and to be the Godly husband she is praying for.
When Landon asks,"Do u love me?"and "Will u marry me?" I scream,"Yes, yes!"everytime I watch these two lovely and romantic scenes:) Who wouldn't love a man like Landon OMG he's so sweet & handsome and has a charismatic voice:)
This is the most beautiful romantic iconic proposal scene ever 💖 Simple, beautiful and just.... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ It's better then a million flowers, lights and extravagant proposal set up....
What made this movie so great for me is because even though it didn't show the death, it still sad. People didn't see how Jamie dying, and how Landon faced Jamie's death. But it still made people sad or maybe cried in the end.
The one thing to me in the Book that had a profound effect on me was the fact that after they Married & after she passed was that he grew old, never remarried, & still in his old age was still wearing his wedding ring & what upset me at the ending was yes he was still young but he wasn’t wearing his wedding ring !! So to me that took a big emotional part out of the Movie for me, he could have been wearing the Wedding Ring & have his older self narrate that part of the book.
Right, he didn't have the ring on four years later in this movie. That and returning the book kind of takes the wind out of my sails. It's hard either way, it would be sad if he stayed single for the rest of his life from 18 years of age or moves on and finds someone else.
This is the most beautiful movie ever made. And I cried throughout the whole thing. I began to cry at 1:40 and the tears didn't stop. I just love this movie, you could not have gotten more perfect people to play in it. So beautiful
It's been almost 15 years since I watched this for the first time. So far I have watched the full movie at least 6 times. Dude.... the more I watch the more i fall in love with both of them.....❤.
I've watched this movie probably 100 times since it came out and every single time I scream "WHY?! WHHHHY?!!!!" at the end. Breaks my heart. It's still a happy movie but it's bittersweet as fuck!
i cry every time. get chills every time. and fall more in love every day with the song. this movie. the marriage proposal and the wedding. i love how these two make God the center of their relationship and use the bible verse in their wedding passage. God bless true love
This is one of the only "chick flicks" or romantic movies I like. And growing up as an only child with a single mother I've seen a lot of them. The simplicity and realism of the story make it perfect. I remember seeing it when mom got it on DVD from goodwill in 2008, and complaining for the first 20 minutes before getting invested in the story and actually caring.
This is why I’m 16 and never been in a relationship. I keep my standards high and I don’t settle for mediocre. You guys want a date, I want a Landon. Better be doing that research.
This would drive me insane, imagine finding youre soulmate, the love of your life the girl of youre dreams and then knowing you will see her never again, you cant touch her or talk with her you cant hear her voice, the only thing you can do is think about her
This will never not make me cry 😭😭. I want a Landon 😍😍 I want these kinds of stories to actually happen. I want these perfect guys. Omg Crying so much over here
Jessica Lynn trying checking your friend zone, cause that's where more than likely all the nice and respectful guys end up. so you might find that perfect there
I've seen true love like this. I wouldn't let other men or other women tell you this dont exist. Some men don't wanna be this type of person because its too much effort. They try to convince women that they have to accept less than what they want or deserve.
I have my hubby, Justin, and he’s WAY BETTER than Landon! My hubby’s stayed with me through multiple hospital procedures, is always there for me when I need him (even when he’s working), and is the biggest gentleman ever!!! We’ve been together for 5 years and he still opens the car door for me ❤️ *I love my hubby!!!* 🥰😘❤️❤️❤️
Jasmine Rivers I saw this when it came out in theaters and I bawled my eyes out and my sleeves were soaked by the end of the movie 😅 cuz I didn’t have any tissues on hand.
Awww Soo beautiful one of my favorite movies. Touched my heart like no other movie. Reminds me of a 2 lives I had in my life. Rest in peace Dominick and Joe Russo the luvs off my life.
The truth that the movie has been inspired by a true story makes me believe that Love is real 😢❤ I promised myself that i'll never get into a relationship except if i find someone who can love me the way Landon did to Jamie 😢 in a time when most of the relationships are based on lusts and personal benefits, it so hard to find this kind of unconditional love... but there is always hope !
I've just re-watched this after so many years and it still gives all the goosebumps and chills and tears of the first time I saw it, not to mention the ocean of tears I've cried when I read the book...
That film had me weeping with tears. One of my favourite Mandy Moore films . Tangled and Chasing liberty are the other two I like but Tangled is my all time favourite. She's a good actress and singer. Shane West was hilarious in Get Over It but he was great in this movie.

Marielouise101 those people can go and f themselves. its about two completely different people falling in love, going on cute dates and then one of the dying.

I learnt that Mandy cried when she watched this scene in her movie and behind the scenes she asked Shane why he didn't paint the telescope for her though in the script she said it's beautiful actually it seemed ugly to her.Shane said he didn't have enough time to paint it and they laughed at it on the set.For the final scene the director thought to make Landon give his wedding ring back as he had found a new one but as the audience'd hate it landon was made to give the book back to Jamie's Dad.
He made her final months so beautiful and meaningful :'(

+Buffy Buff Boy I'm going to hell for laughing lmao
Buffy Buff Boy your not funny
so he got wheelchair action that night?
I didnt realise how perfect this proposal is until I got older. Its so simple yet deep and romantic
Ok obrigado por me ajudar o
a person needs a life's experience, to love , and maybe a loss to understand the precious moments of life
When Landon asked Jamie to marry him, my eyes were full with tears
I tried so hard to hold mines in and not look like a wimp 😁
Her face when he asks is simply phenomenal; and the smile he flashes back to her for a second. Incredible acting...
Shane and mandi had incredible and it is rumored that both of them had a crush on each other
I'm still waiting for the day when I can finally accept how their story ended, ugh.
same
Stephanie Lynn Oh noo, haha, Good luck then, we're gonna need it.
Zsanett Szőke I don't think there will ever come a time when anyone can accept her death. I think all of us refuse to accept the ending and instead we all picture Jamie and Landon still together living out their lives and growing old together.
Well yeah, I still haven't accepted it haha :D
Have you seen the music video for the song "Cry" for this movie? It shows Landon watching home movies of them during that summer :(
perfect example of unconditional love between two souls
Definly ❤❤❤❤
It always gets me when they show his dad as his best man, and his 2 true friends are there and supporting him. Serious onion cutting here
I love that too!!! Everything his dad has done for the two of them. And his friends realize how important Landon and Jamie’s relationship and are there to support him 😊

Until to this day, nothing can top this proposal scene for me. No ring. No direct I love you. But its so emotional. The way Landon made it seem like marrying him is the biggest thing Jaime can do for him. And they were so brave to tie the knot knowing they will part ways too soon.

I was thinking the same thing! Many other details are missing, but this movie is way better than most of the new contemporary romance movies.
I have to disagree. She is literally dying long before Landon asks her to marry him and before he built the telescope for her. +Shanghai Noon middle finger to God? lol did you read the book? she loved God and read the Bible every day.
Misael Meraz it was a figure of speech.
+Shanghai Noon well it is kind of selfish tbh because he would get really hurt after losing her...
I love the way he looks at her
0:01 I love the way he tells her you’re welcome ☺️
So beautiful!!!

And then she went with her unfailing faith... Saddest and best movie line EVER!!!!!

The fact that they only had one summer together is seriously heartbreaking.
I had one summer with the one I love. Never remarried. It was enough. Like Landon said, more love than people experience in a lifetime.
everyone typically sees the notebook first but I saw this movie first and I prefer it to the notebook, but I still love the notebook.
