I think weapons like te HMG and Anti-Materiel need a "deploy bipod" option. To really give into the "digging in" feeling. It would basically force an extra animation to play when standing up making you more vulnerable but significantly increases handling when deployed.
I bought this game when the psn ting happen with all the negative reviews coming in. The heavy machine gun was bad at that time. The armor penetration was still medium and the damage was the same as the mg43. Now it can chip away at charger armor, penetrate bot stalkers, one shot hulks in the eye, and can destroy medium turrets. Thing is literally badass now.
Isn’t it three shot to eye for hulks? But yea it just feels great to shoot at hulks and the shots all go around the eye like a circle lol. I love using hmg with engineering passive. Use stun and shoot at hulks
I personally use it to kill Berserkers, Devastators, Scout Striders and sometimes snipe lone Hulks, using the Liberator to deal with basic infantry and EAT agaisnt heavier enemies (although I plan to use the Commando when I unlock it).
You might not want to use commando for drop and shot. Because of the higher ammo capacity and lower damage. While yes it does deal with big heavies easily if you are just planning on having something quick to shoot out heavies the EAT is better for it. (The commando kinda acts more like a primary support weapon due to its higher ammo capacity)
Engineering kit, and it’s honestly really good with the HMG, at least on the bot front (I main bots and squids), because if you pair the gun with thermite, you can counter the bigger threats like tanks, as well as the recoil control, though you’re better off swapping thermite for Incendiary or impact grenades, since thermite isn’t really well suited to the squids
i modded my HMG to have a bigger scope reticle and now it's perfect. I always dislike HMG's scope with the SUPER small dot which is completely obscured when shooting by the muzzle flash and hitmarker.
I know the devs said they're planning to implement weapon customization, but I wonder if that could extend to support weapons. Modding out different scopes on machinguns/AMRS would be rad
Also struggles with bile titans, factory striders, and tripods... The thing needs a second firemode like the commando and make its other fire mode be real top attack.
I'm probably the only diver who doesn't like it... took me 4 shots to kill a harvester, like what kind of shit is that? My beloved Recoiless and Commando never fail to kill em in 1 shot
@@BigBoyz33 Yeah, it does need some love, especially since the Recoilless has sort of encroached on it’s capabilities (since it is more versatile, AND, just as powerful) so, giving it more power or some wiggle room would be helpful.
Siege ready with HMG is better than sex. I think it plays really nice with the Halt too, since you can hotswap to it after peppering your targets with stun rounds. I pray that they never "fix" siege ready, it's perfect how it is imo
I think I'd like a review on the AoE weapons and stratagems. Really, by that I just mean the Fire and Napalm as well as chemical/gas/super-bug-spray/whatever else you wanna call it weapons.
"Oooooh the heavy MG is so slow and has so much kick uooooohh" just get used to it. A seasoned hardheaded MG user in every game has no issue standing with it and if you do, then, like, crouch, or take one of the 3 perks that help with it lol
This is my favorite MG. That said, there was a lot of, now gone, strats to using it effectively on the bugs amd bots. The 60 day fix changing the armor pen for all enemies and the durable damage nerf for HMG really lowered its skill/effectiveness somewhat.
as someone who used the HMG religiously at one point i would defiantly describe it as the sledgehammer of the machineguns. big, slow, destroying everything in front of you
You can consistently one-shot hulks in the eye if you go prone, ADS, and have good trigger discipline. You've got to wait for about two seconds for the shot to line up perfectly.
Right now, armors with the "seige ready" passive give the HMG and other backpack-less support weapons an extra mag or 2. No clue if this interaction will be fixed
I think the HMG could use one extra magazine (without having to rely on the current Siege Ready). The damage output is good, but the ammo economy is not. I'd rate is as a less-than-sidegrade to the medium MG because sustaining it is much harder without taking the supply pack or fighting in cities that have ammo boxes everywhere.
Next should be the airburst with the same general tips etc however all the clips are when the airburst team wipes out the squad with maybe 1 out of 7 showing it actually working.
i been trying grenade launcher and HMG with shield bubble and rocket sentry on super helldive. Id run with GL to clear striders, and everything besides hulks and tanks, i throw a thermite. when its defending evac or an objective, i can make a foxhole with the Gl and use the HMG to clear and swap between the two
I wanna test out against the bots: Heavy machine gun, Peak physique heavy armor, ballistic shield, stun lance, the high stagger SMG, and firenade (I like fire). I think I should have the ammo to spare. The hardest thing is to hold back the urge to bring a recoiless and ghostdive.

The reload speed and low ammo are the main downsides of the HMG, and siege-ready counters it almost perfectly (at time of writing this comment, Arrowhead, please don’t fix siege-ready to match its description! Just make it so that the description matches what it does now!)

Wear the jungle uniform that increases handling and it's an A+ tier for any front

The extra grenades armor perk (I forget what it’s called) also reduces recoil when crunching and prone by the same amount as fortified.

I love the spear too. The only problem is that every once in a while, your shots will do no damage at all for no reason.

Personally I like running the HMG with Siege-Ready armor for the extra Ammo, and for pairing it with ammo hungry primaries like Breakers or Tendie

putting a red dot and no bipod on a turbo killer 50.bmg machine gun at 750 RPM is insane, i wish the bipods did work in game

I like pairing HMG with armor that gives recoil reduction and wear the supply pack.
When i use the hmg, i put it on max rpm and fire it a bursts. Its good for killing targets faster and conserve ammo.
