Neighborhood Entrance Vandalized (Damaged Shrub Removal & Replacement)

- They were drunk, angry, sleeping, or texting when they ran over our neighborhood entrance. Or it was cue old man voice THOSE DARN KIDS!
As you can seen, someone seems to have driven over almost half of the vegetation in our front entrance landscape area. In this video I volunteer to clean them up, then when I see how horrible they look, offer to pull them up so the neighborhood can replace them with a new neighborhood entrance landscape design.
As you may remember from previous videos where I work on this spot, the neighborhood I live in does not have an HOA (homeowner's association), which is an organization that governs over a neighborhood. They have the ability to create and enforce rules about things like maintaining your property, what you can or can't do in the neighborhood, to more minute things of what color you have to paint your house. They also collect dues monthly or annually to improve and upkeep common areas or to pay for amenities in the neighborhood. HOA's get a bad rap, and that is because their quality almost 100% derives from who is running them, and if you get petty or angry people in charge things can be run poorly. HOA's can also be effective and great tools if the right people are in charge.
All that said, we don't have one, so there is no one to take the lead on projects like this. A few days after this happened, I posted to the
@Nextdoor
app and asked if anyone knew what happened. After that I offered to trim them up and pull them out, and neighbors collected funds via donation to replace the plants.

I don't know why but I cracked up over the " I just got my shovel stuck in a bush " comment thanks for the laugh Brad I needed that today .
Haha, I am glad!
You're a genuine guy and we could use more people like you in the world
Very kind!

BTW, I like both designs but I wonder if the trees aren't planted too close together.
Well done, Sir.
LOL Love this!
When the pulling finishes, it looks like you're dragging a giant broccoli floret! LOL 4:07
LOL always eat your veggies!
I really dislike hedges even when they're regularly trimmed. And I absolutely love crepe myrtles! That was an excellent choice on the part of your neighbor! And you did an absolutely awesome job! without all your hard work they would not have been able to come in and make it look so pretty.
Thanks so much! 😊
Great work! It's nice to see a neighbourhood where residents volunteer and chip in to keep things looking tidy. Seems like a really enjoyable place to live.
Thanks 👍
Who needs an HOA when you have Brad. Has to be hundreds of houses in this community and nobody showed up to help?
Not everyone is on the website we communicated with, and several did offer help. I declined as I didn't want bystanders near while I was running the tow rope.
Working by yourself is better most of the time....
I'm just happy for him that he doesn't live in a HOA neighborhood.
There are A LOT of idiots out there who have NO REGARD for the property of others.
You're a great guy to have done this. Proves the point of my comment two videos ago.
Beautiful outcome provided by all. Just goes to show what can happen when people get together for a GOOD thing!
Thank you for the kind words as always Mr. Lou, I appreciate it!
So nice how the whole neighborhood pitches in to help out. Some trimming, you removing and fixing up, and others buying and planting.
Very true!
Oh you’re the guy who did that! I didn’t know who replaced them. Cool to see this! Also, thank you.
All I did was pull them, someone else organized everything and put in the new plants.
Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care Oh okay. Still, I didn’t know you had a RUclips channel. 😄
Good for you helping the community. That is tough work indeed and it was a good thing you and the truck had the power to remove the Boxwoods. The after shot is beautiful.
Thank you for the kind words!
Good job Brad. 👏
My back aches just watching you.
I think my back is STILL sore from this! :D
Hey there Brad, nice to see you volunteering for that cleanup 👍
Thanks 👍
Good stuff, Brad! It’s more work than people who don’t do that kind of work think it is!
Haha, I agree!
This was a great opportunity and way to promote your business.
I hope so, thanks!
I’m so glad you’re back and posting again! This was a wonderful thing you did for your neighborhood.
Oh I was never going to stop posting RUclips videos! :D
Your neighbors seem friendly... good work that looked tough
Thanks! My back was toast the rest of the weekend.
I'll have to work on my pep talks I suppose 😂
LOL
Great Job Brad, I know what it is like to rip up big bushes and plants, I have spent my spare time these past twelve weeks doing all this by hand, I have a 2,850sq foot garden, I completed the garden yesterday (02/07/2020) I now have a very low maintainance garden which will take half hour to mow and weed.
Very nice, I bet it saves a lot of time!
Good job Brad always good to pay it forward 👍👊💪
You got that right!
In my neighbourhood there is no HOA too. We have had some idiots come through dumping their mattresses, couches, etc at our local park and all around the neighbourhood. We've complained to the city but that does nothing when this type of behaviour is rampant all throughout the city. So, we as neighbours took matters into our own hands. We pick up the rubbish and haul it away. Those of us who have dogs and need to walk them, we encourage that, and ask those who see anything suspicious to report it. I applaud that you are doing the same. We can all have nice things and a beautiful place to live in if we take the time to care for it.
That is no fun, I am sorry to hear that!
Nice job Brad. Thank goodness no HOA, I hate them. I don't have them. 👍. I have heard horror stories about them though. Stay safe. 😉😉😉😉🇺🇸
Same here, glad not to have one.
Have you and the other homeowners considered painting a yellow line on the street around the bed or use reflectors of some kind or is that even allowable? Of course you don't know if it was accidental or intentional.
I don't live there but always appreciate when someone steps up and takes care of matters like that without expecting anything in return. Unfortunately not too many like that any more.
I thought I replied to this sorry. I don't know if that is legal either, but part of the bed is lighted at night.
Oh, Man! If I'd known I'd taken them to work up some Bonsai. The roots look just fine and healthy and could be trimmed so that in 1 or 2 years they'd be beautiful and worth $$$.
Larry
Maybe next time! :D
Such a small world. I live in Cooper Creek. And my family has lived on 23-A since the 1970’s. Nice vids man
Very nice job brad and neighbors !!
Yes they are!
I Love The Work You Do I’m Think This Is One Of The Jobs I’m Going To Do In The Future Keep Up The Good Videos And Work They Are Nice And Entertaining
I appreciate that!
Wholesome ngl. Even the mail man chipped in.
Haha, thanks!
I reiterate for the zillionth time: yardwork/gardening is NOT for the faint of heart! God bless ya' man! Schwhew! The crepe myrtles look awesome and freshen up the entrance. With the addition of the liriope, it will finish things off nicely! I can envision it now!
=^..^=
Thank you! :D
Great video you inspired me to start a landscapeing company and its going well keep up the great work
I am very proud!
Awesome work as ALWAYS...✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Thanks again!
Brad,
Thanks for the laughs
You are welcome!
Now that is my kind of work. I love to take a ugly yard and make it look good. Or in this case an ugly entrance and make it look great. You did a heck of a job Brad!!!!!
Thank you kindly!
I like the time lapse you use in your videos
Thank you!
Yeah, those crepe myrtles are going to add color to the area that REALLY needed it, plus their roots are a good choice for that section. They won't crack a path, or mess with the neighboring plants!
I think so too!
That's a nice upgrade actually.
They put in even more stuff so it looks even better now.
It's really sad to see work gets destroyed by people that just don't care that other people put a lot of work into making communities look nice whether it's illegally dumping rubbish or smashing/tagging stuff.
Very true!
We let some one with a backhoe to do that work. :) It is extremely hard work. Thank you for volunteering to do that job. :) Nasty soil, are they going to replace it? Looks awesome, better then the boring boxwood.
A backhoe would have saved my back, though! :D
Nice work Brad. Keep it up brother!
Thanks! Will do!
I was about to suggest using a reciprosaw for getting the root ball out...but I imagine pulling all the roots was more ideal?
I tried to get as many as possible to help the future plants.
Nothing I hate more than idiot drivers, drunk or sober. If I lived in your neighborhood I wouldn't mind helping you out. Great job👍
Thank you kindly!
Great job Brad!
Thank you!
Marathon Watching 4/21/22 Very sad... wish people would not do this. Thanks for doing the cleanup.
You need a guy like “Tractor Time with Tim” in your area to help with that project. Check him out. The front looks much better now.Good job.
That would be cool!
You're a good egg to volunteer to help your neighborhood like this.
Thank you!
That looks much better than the boxwoods! I would really like to see it completely finished. Do they have a sprinkler? If not that stuff is going to die quickly.
Yes, it island is irrigated. Thanks for watching!
Great job on the hard work! More power to you! God bless!
Thank you so much!
Good job!
Looks great!!
I'm glad you like it!
Brad who ever did that needs to pay I remember you replaced that and made it look nice
This just happened, you might be thinking of a different spot!
Lucky they didn’t destroy the irrigation too. Nice work on the job. Taking pride in where you live seems like a dying trait in some...
That would have added some time to the project for sure!
Thank you for doing the right thing.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙂🙂🙂🌟🌳🌳🌳🌳
So nice of you! :)
You good Samaritan well done.
Much appreciated!
Great video Brad! Have a Happy 4th🇺🇸
Thanks guys!
Such a nice guy. I would do the same, but that's because I love this type of work
Wow great jobs brad
Thanks!
I would have gotten up those barberry too.
Thanks for watching!
Looks great.
Thanks!
Great job!
Thanks for the visit :)
Those Crepe Myrtles will look 10x better, in my opinion
I agree!
Oh man. Someone did not like those bushes.
Haha, that is true!
Lookin good Brad
And as a wise man once said, "stuff happens"
Thank you!
It wasn't me, I live in Michigan 🤠
LOL Good to know!
Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care I wouldn’t trust his excuse. Often when people say that they didn’t do it, they actually did it. So let’s get him 🪓💣🧨⚔️
@@Engineer9736 🤨 😂🤣😂🤣😂
It wasn't me, I haven't been in Florida in like 20 years,
Zraupp10 See! You did it!
@@Engineer9736 why would I drive from Michigan all the way down to Florida to run over a few shrubs ??
I bet it was the buy in the van that stopped by
It’s good to make your neighborhood look nice, but here it looks like the whole neighborhood exists around that planterbed
Hah, thanks for watching!
Ahhh, I haven't done a good shrub pulling in years...maybe I should volu-- *NOPE.* 🤣🤣 Who's property is that island, then, if it's not township or municipal? 🤔
It is a weird no-man's land. Our responsibility to maintain but not ours. It is just part of the road.
Great JOB
Thanks!
Great video
Thanks!
another great video
Thanks again!
So cool!
Good thing you took them out, they seemed very brittle
Yeah, they were not healthy.
I’ve done that kind of work before and it is quite taxing
I agree! My back was shot!
Looked way better than the shrubs to be honest
I am glad you like it!
Come on butter cup pull.. Boy those plants have a bad root system..
LOL
Brad this is kinda off topic but I’m a bald guy too and don’t know what you use but I just got an omnishaver for Father’s Day and it’s amazing best razor I’ve used to date
Up until a few weeks ago I have just been trimming every week with a hair trimmer with no guard. Just started shaving with a regular razor every other day, but I have been scared to shave against the grain just yet :D
Tree blocks the speed limit sign
Everyone ignores it anyways :D
You could use a mini-excavator for jobs like this.
True!
Love the videos!!
Glad you like them!
U never use bushes in public use ground covers and bushes that will spring back up after a week
Good tip!
Everything happens for a reason🙏🏼.
Thanks for watching!
Daft question, but what did you do with the old shrubs and root balls???
Nice job by the way, tho'....next time.... dynamite!!
Left at curb for city pickup!
Need to put a 4 ft concrete pillar, 2ft in the ground and turkey will lose their oil,pan
XD
I could use some nabors like yours.
I appreciate that!
Aren’t those micron hollies not boxwoods? Just asking for knowledge sake
No clue, I thought they were boxwoods.
You would have had an easier time with a farm jack, or an engine hoist... makes quick work
(Aftertho't: what do you do with the debris you routinely clean up?)
=^..^=
Leave it at the curb for the city to pick up.
@@CopperCreekCuts ...then you've gotta go home, and bag it up?!! [another 'schwhew'!]
=^..^=
All you need to do was cut them back and Then dig them up easy as 123
Easier said than done! :D
If you're one of the 9 people who dislike this video please explain why dislike this video? Are you against nature, plants, volunteers, or were you one of the people who ran over the plants?
It was a van full of 9 angry neighbors! :D
Wait! You just trimmed all of that up!☹🥺
Haha, I haven't trimmed that in a long time, but some other neighbors did the weekend before.
You ever got a bad lawn where you kept stepping on shit
I hope they find out whoever did this.
Doubtful they will, but I agree!
You don’t pull things out very often. Hmmm.
142 kids so far. XD
Your back must kill after work like that
Oh yeah, it was toast after this!
the roots look like an ant hill
Haha, they do!
Hi
Hi!
It looks like a bike did that
Maybe!
You need a pick axe
Might have been helpful!
Looks the same to me maybe you should hired someone to help you and do a better job 🤦🏼♂️👨🏻🔧
Why in the world would I hire someone to help me do free volunteer work? XD
Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care because your jobs suck 😂 my grandpa does a better job than you 👌
I'm thinking your not gonna need to work out for a few days lol. It's a crying shame that some people don't have any shame or remorse. The after shots are looking really good for who ever it was that put the new stuff in.
Haha, more like I couldn't move for a few days!
