- Decided to take a little day trip across my home state of Tennessee to meet the charming Johnson City resident, Amythyst Kiah. We were actually supposed to meet two or three years ago, during that hectic Nashville holiday that is Americana Week. I'd just filmed Che Apalache in my living room ( • Che Apalache, "The Dre... ) when I got the text, Amythyst wasn't feeling well and we'd have to reschedule. Well, it took some time but here it is.

I believe it may be a combination of the racially charged politics and news that we, in the USA, deal with on a daily basis. At the start I can see how it can be seen in the same lines as a lot of the other narratives that are pushed on us. However, at the end the artist acknowledges a sense of progress has been made but that we still have work to do. I think a number of people opted out before it hit that point. As a result they never saw the beauty of the message this artist has.
