Forging and Making a Handled Butcher

- I forge and make a new tool: a handled butcher. The butcher assists with creating clear transitions in metal and I plan on using it for an axe forging project. I show how to turn a round bar into a very pretty butcher and then also show my method for taking hard wood and turning it into a handle that I will attach to the butcher. Lots of clever little tricks to learn here.

There's nothing more satisfying than seeing raw materials become something useful.
The process of transformation is really neat indeed.
Been following you since 2011. Love your stuff, keep it up bro.
Nice to see you again! :)
That tempering trick is really cool.
Glad you liked it. Works pretty well.
Yay, new video! Always good to see you again.
Thank you!
Wonderful video!
Top quality video, as always. Thak you for sharing.
So awesome
Thanks for work! )
Great looking tool you made and I've never seen one before thanks for sharing!!
Enjoyed the video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Yay. Thanks for commenting.
Very interesting and skillful
Awsome!
your endurance is crazy, when I`m hammering on my C80 steel I just have less than 8 heating processes.
Awsom Video, als always :)
I've also heard this hammer being called a parter and a splitter.
Perhaps consider making a slot punch from H13, so it holds up better ?
Yes. Definitely. I think that would be the right call.
Great project! It's the first time I see spokeshave used in pushing manner - I always used it by pulling towards myself, kind of like japanese handplanes. Does pushing have any benefits?
Either way seems to work fine. Didn’t notice much of a difference to be honest.
I've had one of these "hammers" in my attic for years, had no clue what it was used for, and kinda hard to figure out, because there's a slate hammer that's quite similar in style (a longer, thinner wedge).
Makes me wonder how it ended up in your attic and the story behind the tool.
@@NielsProvos I read your reply and I heard your voice in my head when reading it.
@@bradleyholcombe6114 that’s pretty funny.
Hi Neil, how could I commission you a Spear Head? Which channel could we talk?
Unfortunately, I don’t do commissions. I can point you towards very talented bladesmiths though who might make a piece like this for you. I’d guess you would be looking at $5000.
are you the guy that created bcrypt?
One of them 😎
