  • Here's a look at the Hammond SKX Pro - in this review I show that it's possible to create the Klaus Wunderlich sound using the SKX and a little adjustment of things such as key click and release. My next video will show the Genos 2 linked with this powerful little organ.

    WOW! That solo female voice is divine! I sooo wish that was on the Yamaha Genos2 as well ... Brilliant presentation yet again Leigh. I believe Yamaha has a SA2 Female Vocals Pack but nothing close to this voice. On another note, WOW! You're channel is crimping up of 10,000 subscribers which is brilliant.

    The display thing is a common problem for really many keyboard and synths today, especially the more budget models. You can't really call these Hammonds "budget" class tho, but It's clearly a way of cutting the costs of the instruments and to Organ players a big 10" display is just in the way. They want hands on control of the drawbars and the basic B/C/A Hammond functions. For a 2 manual Organ I would have prefered to have some bigger Registrations buttons between the manuals and just the smaller programming buttons around the screen when it just have that small a screen. The Mojo61 doesn't even have a screen, but at least the instrument have a usable wifi dongle build in so if you need to edit the Organ settings you just connect an ipad or any other tablet with a browser which is a far better solution than a tiny display. If you want a quality touch screen like the Genos, thats a substantial ammount of the combined cost of the instrument. but in any advanced synth or keyboard like the Genos I really couldn't live without a touch screen anymore

      I really do get your opinion on the voicing system .. It's so antiquated. I remember once asking in a Mojo channel why they didn't put registrations into it. It has 2 registrations (like the upper 2 A and A# registrations black keys and B for live Drawbars ... and guess what the answer was .... "If it wasn't in th B3, it wasn't in the Mojo" ..... like Come on We live in the 2020's ... not the 1950's. 🤣

    Organ is organ, all settings immediately available,however the keyboard has layering etc.i need all sounds available at the touch or turn of a switch /drawbar etc.

    It would be nice for Hammond to model some of its transistor-era organs too, think Aurora/Concorde. Can’t think why it includes the likes of Vox and Farfisa models but not later Hammonds. There’s a bit of purist snobbery around the tonewheel organ simulations. I had an SK2 for a while and it was very enjoyable but the ergonomics were also byzantine on that too.

    Hi Leigh, I still have my SKX, it also is very difficult to navigate and drive. I bought it after hearing Keith Hortons beautiful demos on RUclips. Can I get my SKX to sound like that, NO!Unfortunately Keith had passed away before I made my purchase and he has taken the sound with him. Even Organaut could not help me replicate these sounds. This organ is so un-user friendly it is now just an ornament in my studio.

    Sounds really authentic though. You’re the first I’ve heard demo it in the classic Hammond style and Wunderlich style. Massive improvement on the past models. Think I’m sticking with my DMC122/Gemini for my Hammond clone for now though.

    This is a really nice video! I bought a SKpro instantly when I saw the yellish keys and the green colour. Combined with the orange LEDs it is a beauty of a keyboard. I wasn't much interested in the organ sounds - they are fabulous but lack body and warmth - but in the additional sounds of this gem. There is so much quality in the chromatic percussion sounds. The SKpro is a sound designers dream: you can choose from all sounds for the ensemble part and the piano part. Each part has 4 full voices fully tweakable. So this makes 8 parts plus the solo synth plus the full organ!
    The only let down are the brasses and some old guitar samples. Good brasses are a must for a stage keyboard. This one has weak brasses that can't stand alone.

    One thing I would like to add: Leigh, you don't have to use the Favourites at all. Just use the 100 User Settings coming BEFORE the presets. So it starts with preset 1 and you have to turn left for the user sets. Even Tony doesn't use any "Favourites"-Buttons.

    • @LeighWilbraham

      Imagine playing a concert and having to dial to a setting. It’s just mad. It needs a easier system that’s not so clunky

    • @bakerman3039
      @bakerman3039 6 месяцев назад

      No Leigh, it isn't really that clunky. I just create my new sound and save it as a piano or ensemble user voice. Then I go above to the combination box and save the new user voice as a new user combination. That's it. It takes you a minute at max. And you can dial your user combination just by dialing leftwards instead of forward. Get rid of these favourite buttons. I have this keyboard for about one year and I even touched these favourites one time. @@LeighWilbraham

    Great Video Video Leigh. It's real funny cause I have thaught the exact same thing as you, why havn't Hammond ever tried to remake the H series Organs. I have a feeling as that it's cause the H series kinda had a poor rep. mainly to the Jazz and Rock scene, but as a big fan since childhood of the great Klaus Wunderlich, I always loved the H100. I think the reason is to some musicians playing "party Hammond pops" music is just not "good enough" and often looked down on. I love all KW different eras, but my favorit is still thethe late 60's and early 70's where he mainly played the H100 and he didn't really use the Leslie very much. He mostly used the scanner vibrato clean without leslie effect. Ever since the Digital era I always wished someone would make a "Party organ" style VST that could emulate the 70's analog organs and those cheasy solo voices we used to play on 70's organs even they sounded kinda bad. But in many ways they vere more "organic" sounding .. pun intended than eg digital synths and early romplers. Personly I have mixd feelings about Hammond Suzuki, but I would kill to have the multicontact system in my Mojo61 which I'm btw very happy with. It's almost the same engine as the Gemini/DMC kinda an in between version of the old VB3 1.4 and the new 2.x software. Where Wersi has the old 1.4 build in which still is one of the best B3 emulations today. 😊
